Floridian alternative singer/songwriter Dominic Fike returns with โAnt Pile,โ the second single from his highly anticipated sophomore LP, Sunburn.
โYโou looked at me different / (In the middle of, in the middle of) / And held me like you missed meโฆโ Aww ๐ฅฐ, the feels! After ๐ต โDancing In The Courthouseโ, the talented Floridian ๐ Dominic Fike returns with his second single of 2023, ๐ต โAnt Pileโ. โAnt Pileโ also serves as the second single of his highly anticipated sophomore LP, ๐ฟ Sunburn (arrives July 7, 2023).ย Written by Fike and ๐ผ โ Julian Cruz, the brief two-minute and change joint is produced by Fike, Cruz, ๐ Henry Kwapis, Jim-E Stack, and Devin Workman. As is always the case with Fikeโs music, โAnt Pileโ exemplifies an alternative sound and sounds quite distinct and unique. Thereโs a mix of styles, essentially.
Fike recollects on love. This love begins early on โ first grade to be precise.ย This is where the title, โAnt Pileโ comes from.ย In the first verse, Fike asserts, โFirst grade (First grade) / Somebody tied you to an ant pile / And that wasnโt even the worst day / Back then you knew I always liked youโฆโ The relationship evolves, including the universal three-letter word (โSaid letโs get home before your mom doesโ).ย Throughout four verses, the memories are vivid, with the final verse yielding more memorable moments: โIโve seen you fall to pieces / Seen you completely naked / Thereโs no more ways you can surprise me.โ True โ nudity bares it all! Is ๐ต โAnt Pileโ a lyrical masterpiece? Nah, that would be an overstatement.ย Is it the second coming. Thatโs also a nah, but it is interesting, as Fikeโs music tends to be.ย He sings, he raps โ serves up a bit of everything. Worth listening to? By all means.
