Just because you have a star studded cast on a track doesn’t make it a hit.  That is the case with 🎵 “Supposed to Be Loved”, a new single from  🏆 Grammy winning curator (🤯)  🎙 DJ Khaled. Despite the fact that Khaled consistently touts, “We the best,” and once asserted, “All we do is win, win, win / No matter what,” “Supposed to Be Loved” feels like a fail, fail, FAIL.  The record features production by Khaled and 🎛 TM88 which is giving mid and meh at best.  The big fuel for the backdrop’s fire is a sample of the 1982 classic, 🎵 “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” by the iconic King of Pop, 🎙 Michael Jackson.  While “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” is an awesome song from a once in a lifetime album, even its repurposing on “Supposed to Be Loved” can’t save this dud of the track.

So, exploring that star studded cast. You would think 🏆 Grammy nominated rappers like 🎙 Lil Baby and 🎙 Lil Uzi Vert, and a 🏆 Grammy winning rapper like 🎙 Future could drop a banger.  Unfortunately, from the start, “Supposed to Be Loved” feels like a miss.  Thematically, it’s uninspired, and lyrically, these capable MCs offer little substance or nothing we haven’t heard over and over.  Exhibit A, the chorus: “I’m tryna love you like you ‘posed to be loved / She know I’m a thug, she don’t treat me like no rapper…” In the first verse, Lil Baby, who always brings the flow, offers little else, aside from buying her “A Birkin bag to butter her up / We had sex inside the Cullinan truck, it felt amazin’.” 😏 Who gives a 🤬… mehFuture doesn’t elevate anything, basically rapping about how he spoils her with drip, and refers to himself at the end as Plutoski – oh brother! As for Lil Uzi Vert, he drops the tired line, “Love you so much, got your name tattooed.” Yup, ben there, done that.  Would it be far-fetched to characterize 🎵 “Supposed to Be Loved” as hot garbage? Methinks not. The personnel is here to make a banger, but they fail to deliver the goods.
