In the 76th edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “CALEB” performed by Damien Cain featuring Jamie Wiltshire.
Are you ready to beam with P-R-I-D-E? Beaming with Pride highlights songs by LGBTQ musicians and allies, offering background, analysis, and discussion of the decadent bops served up. All genres are welcome, and both classics and new songs are recognized. So, without further ado, in the 76th edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “CALEB” performed by Damien Cain.
“CALEB” begins as a piano ballad; the accompaniment is emotional and gorgeous 😍. Soon enough, additional colorful cues enter the mix, including synths and rock elements. After tender beginnings, this queer love song embraces rock to the fullest 🤘, namely in the chorus. The singing is exceptional. The vocals are authentic, expressive, heartfelt, and incredibly sincere. The songwriting is beautiful and thoughtfully penned, even with the devastation of loss: “You were my anchor, the one who made me strong, / We built a world, but I guess I was wrong / Now you hold someone else the way you held me / And it cuts like a knife, but you’re too blind to see.” Those lyrics hit hard. The tuneful melody assuages but can’t cure this deeply broken heart. The chorus is ‘where it’s at’ – the centerpiece and crowning achievement:
“I’ll never forget how I got lost in your eyes,
But now they’re staring at someone else,
It’s no surprise: I gave you my heart, but you’ve walked away,
Still, those memories stay with me every day.
Caleb, I’ll never forget, but I know I have to let you go.”
As sad as it is, at least the broken-hearted understands they must move on. In another moving moment, “I’ll heal in time, but the scars remain, / A part of me still whispers your name. / I’ll never forget how it felt to be whole, / But now I’m learning how to let go.” “CALEB” is a special, special song. It comes from a queer perspective, but anyone who has suffered from a broken heart can relate to this powerful, must-hear song. Damien Cain put his foot into this one.
