Craig David, The Time is Now © InsanityEnglish R&B artist Craig David enlists rapper GoldLink for his easygoing, feel-good single, “Live in the Moment.” “Live in the Moment” appears on his upcoming studio album, ‘The Time is Now.’

After wowing on “I Know,” the promo single for The Time Is Now, English R&B artist Craig David wows once more on “Live in the Moment.” Like “I Know You”, David gets a little help, thanks to rapper GoldLink. “Live in the Moment” features a killer R&B groove, that has old-school classicism, while feeling fresh in 2018. David delivers smooth, easygoing vocals. He’s sounds like he’s feeling good and carefree.  Besides his ripe lead itself, there is fantastic vocal harmonization during the verse. Melodically, the lines are incredibly rhythmic.

The crème de la crème arrives with the catchy hook.  David sings:

“And let’s live in the moment / When one door closes, another one opens / So let’s live in the moment / No point holding onto what’s broken / So let’s live in the moment / When one door closes, another one opens / Stop tryna control it and start living in the moment.”

The inclusion of a rap verse feels natural here.  That said, GoldLink doesn’t quite live up to the greatness that precedes him. Craig David is beastly throughout, and honestly, doesn’t need any help to hold things down. His ad-libs just add to the greatness of the record.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Live in the Moment” is a great record.  Craig David, vocally, is the best thing, while the rap by GoldLink is a letdown.  The so-so rap isn’t enough to “kill the vibe.” “Live in the Moment” = good stuff.
