Ah, bring on Midnight Heat 🕛 🔥! Wait – it is not usually hot at midnight! Well, it is steaming hot 🥵 at midnight when it comes to this naughty, innuendo and sex-laden column featuring songs intended for nighttime. Yeah, we are talking about that after dark, bedroom boom $hi†, ya dig? These unapologetic records often raises both eyebrows and temperature alike. Woo! In the 66th edition of Midnight Heat (2023), we explore the naughty, sexy vibes behind, 🎵Marvin Gayeby 🎙 Charlie Puth

Charlie Puth, Nine Track Mind [📷: Artist Partner Group/Atlantic]“Let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on / You got that healing that I want.” Oh brother, 🎙 Charlie Puth 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️! Album number one for the 🏆 Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter/producer, 💿 Nine Track Mind (2016), was… um… sus….  Being brutally honest, it was f🤬🤬king terrible. While 🎵 “Marvin Gaye” marked one of the better moments, enlisting the services of 🏆 Grammy winner 🎙 Meghan Trainor, sex felt, well, sanitized… Actually, the more appropriate word instead of sanitized is incredibly white. To quote 🎙 Vampire Weekend, 🎵 “Unbearably White”. While Puth’s references to the soul legend’s iconic sex songs – 🎵 “Let’s Get It On” and 🎵 “Sexual Healing” – should be clever, it doesn’t quite land. He continues singing, far too innocently in the chorus, “Just like they say it in the song / Until the dawn, let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on.” Ugh, ugh, ugh!

The thing is, long since “Marvin Gaye,” Charlie Puth has proven himself to be quite a sexual being… or at least incredibly horny.  He’s nice to look at, and hopefully, if you were to make sweet music with him, it would be more exciting and certainly more explicit than this song 😈! Bitmoji ImageHowever, the midnight heat on “Marvin Gaye” is lukewarm at best – too schmaltzy to embrace the passion of 🎙 Marvin Gaye by all means. Still, even though its corny, it’s clear sex is the modus operandi.  After all, Charlie tells Meghan, “Don’t keep your secrets to yourself / It’s Kama Sutra show and tell.” As for Meghan Trainor, she needs and wants him. After all, “And when you leave me all alone / I’m like a stray without a home / I’m like a dog without a bone / I just want you for my own / I got to have you, babe.”  All told, 🎵 “Marvin Gaye” is a prime example of where the means to reach the end can be totally different (or very white) in some cases.  Sex is the ultimate result, but the way we arrive there… again, a bit sus…
