Calvin Harris keeps the jams coming with his latest, hella groovy creation, “One Kiss.” He taps rising star Dua Lipa to bless the standout track with her awesome vocals.  

Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris continues to stay busy, always delivering groovy new music.  He ‘killed it’ last year with his greatly underappreciated album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, which was undoubtedly among the crème de la crème of 2017.  He continues his musical journey by enlisting the extraordinarily talented English-Albanian sensation Dua Lipa on single “One Kiss.”

The first section of “One Kiss” that listeners hear is the chorus.  This occcurs abruptly, with restrained vocals by Dua Lipa. Ultimately, the chorus it’s simple, but effectively conveys the theme of the record.

Fallin’ in love with me

Possibilities

I look like all you need.”  

Beyond the initially chorus, “One Kiss” follows a relatively simple, but effective form that consists of verse, pre-chorus, chorus, and post chorus.  Dua Lipa certainly doesn’t remain restrained for long, beyond the initial chorus.  She rides Calvin Harris’ infectious dance groove like a champ with her robust instrument. Perhaps she’s smoother than usual, lacking the grit of her solo work, but once again, she’s a truly alluring singer.

Final Thoughts 

Once again, Calvin Harris drops dance/pop gold with “One Kiss.” On his end of things, the production is amazing, particularly the beat.  As for Dua Lipa, once again, she serves up vocal awesomeness.  Perhaps it doesn’t have the attitude or feistiness of her more unapologetic gems, but Harris and Lipa make a formidable team.
