Up-and-coming Australian pop/R&B musician BOBI ANDONOV impresses on “Faithful,” only the third single of his burgeoning career.
There’s a new kid on the block – well a 23-year old kid. BOBI ANDONOV is a rising pop/R&B musician from “down under” – Australia that is. “Faithful” serves as his second single of 2018, and only the third single of his career, following “Apartment” and “Smoke”. How does Mr. ANDONOV stack up? Let’s jump right in.
“Faithful” provides an excellent snapshot of the artist that BOBI ANDONOV already is, as well as where he’s potentially going. The production is moody and mysterious, set in a minor key. The vibe is amazing, chocked full of the universal three-letter word – sex. From his end of things, he delivers beautiful, expressive, and nuanced vocals. With “Faithful” being my first time hearing him, he makes a stellar first impression with his distinct instrument.
Thematically, there’s definitely a struggle with being “Faithful.” While the verses are tamer instrumentally, ANDONOV remains expressive and honest. On the pre-chorus, he sings, “How could I leave her alone when she’s the one I need? / My eyes got a mind of their own making me believe.” On the chorus, the centerpiece, he continues:
“I’ll never let you go finish what you started
I hope she’ll never know faithful is impossible…”
Following the second iteration of the chorus, “Faithful” introduces a contrasting bridge section. It’s not completely dissimilar to the verses, but definitely stands alone as its own entity.
Final Thoughts
At this point, BOBI ANDONOV has released just three songs. Just to reiterate, “Faithful” was my introduction to the Australian musician. Go ‘head and mark me down as a fan. When does the debut album arrive Bobi?
