It only takes ONE hit to solidify a musical legacy 💯! On 1 Hit WONDERful, we highlight songs that were the SOLE hit by a given musician.  To be fair, it is possible that the artists appearing on this list earned a minor hit or two, BUT for the most part, it’s that ONE hit that earned them recognition. So, in the 16th edition of 1 Hit WONDERful (2024) we dive into “Thotiana”,  the one-hit wonder by Blueface.

Furthermore, it was certified platinum by the RIAA. Written by Blueface and producer Scum Beatz, “Thotiana” isn’t deep (no shit, Sherlock), but highlights the high point of the embattled rapper’s career.

boxingThe chorus, excerpted above, in all its unrefined glory, is the centerpiece. Still, over the beat, “Blueface, baby” delivers one verse.  He’s confident AF given his looks, gassed up by his mama (“Mama always told me I was gon’ break hearts”). His handsomeness is undeniable though the choices he’s made are utterly STUPID. Focusing on the song, he spits, “I wanna see you bust down /… Bend that shit over, on the gang… / Make that shit clap.” Um, okay… He adds, “Smackin’, high off them drugs / I tried tell myself two times was enough / Then a nigga relapsed, on the dead locs…” Again, okay… Listening to “Thotiana”, which is purely sexual (“I beat the pussy up, now it’s a murder scene”), you don’t learn much, if anything.  Still, he mustered up a hit, due to its catchiness.
