“I

didn’t choose this lifestyle, it just chose me,” 🎙 Blxst sings on the chorus of 🎵 “Chose Me”.  “Chose Me” is a short but worthwhile collaboration with rapper🎙 Blueface.  Notably, both musicians contrast one another, resulting in an intriguing product.  In addition to his vocal contributions, Blxst produces the record.

Starting with the production, I heart the dramatic sound, set in a minor key.  Even set up for the rhymes of Blueface to slaughter, there’s a ‘classiness’ about the backdrop I didn’t necessarily expect.  The palette of sounds is lovely.  As for Blueface, he raps in an undertone – he’s calm, cool, and collected. Even though he isn’t rapping overtly, he’s still potent and locked-in; his flow is a selling point.

“Blueface, baby, I ain’t choose her she chose me
If you take it all at noe time you gon’ OD
Baby call me, ‘Baby boy,’ she said I act like Jodie
Lately, I’ve been hittin’ these new bitches with the old me.”

Again, must note that catchy, melodic chorus by Blxst, which sounds more assertive and enthusiastic compared to his partner in crime:

“Ayy, I got issues, stripes/drip’s blue
What that cost?
Who cares? I’ma fuck the whole bag up
Bands up, everyone
No hot sauce (Sheesh)
All facts, bitch, I took the cap lock off (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
Somethin’ told me
I didn’t choose this lifestyle, it just chose me (Yeah, ayy).”

Final Thoughts 💭

Bitmoji ImageAll in all, “Chose Me” is an enjoyable collaboration between Blueface and Blxst. No, the game or the word isn’t changed, but, the playlist gets a sub-two-and-a-half-minute lift if nothing else.  The contrast between the two musicians is part of the allure as is the chorus and production work by Blxst.
