Sometimes, two is better than one! That is the case when it comes to Dazzling Duets! On Dazzling Duets, we highlight striking songs performed by two artists collaborating. These duets can be from any musical style, making Dazzling Duets a flexible, versatile column. In the 27th edition of Dazzling Duets (2026), BigXthaPlug and Ella Langley collaborate on “Hell At Night”. Let the dazzle begin!

“I hope it’s hell at night / And my memory’s burnin’, burnin.’”
Well, some folks are pissed off.  Those folks appear to be rapper BigXthaPlug (Xavier Landum) and country singer-songwriter Ella Langley.  Shockingly, BigX and Ella join forces on a country-rap duet, “Hell At Night” 👀. Of course, BigX made a whole album of the country-rap thing with I Hope You’re Happy, where “Hell” is the fifth track.  The marriage of country and hip-hop doesn’t always work.  Here, on this hell of a good song, it works superbly. “Hell At Night” was written by Landum and Langley, along with Joybeth Taylor, BandPlay, Rocky Block, Ro$ama, Charlie Handsome (Ryan Vojtesak), and UV Killin Em. Handsome, UV Killin Em, and BandPlay produced it.

We get guitar strumming and a hard beat that provides a mighty anchor. Langley performs the first verse and the chorus. “Damn, I’d love to live and let live / Let it go, forgive and forget,” she sings in the verse, and concludes, “Holdin’ a grudge ain’t what I wanna do / But when it comes to you.” Uh-oh, what does she hope? See the chorus, in all of its hellish glory:

“I hope it’s hell at night

Straight through the mornin’

I hope you close your eyes

And just can’t ignore it

‘Cause it’s too damn loud

Tossin’ and turnin’

I hope it’s hell at night

And my memory’s burnin’, burnin’.”

What more can you say to that but d-d-damn! With Ella dominating the first part of “Hell At Night,” BigXthaPlug comes in strong with the second and third verses.  His flow is flowing, with that signature tone. He echoes Langley’s sentiments, with the likes of “I hope you meet the right person, but y’all never get along” (verse two) and “Hope you go deep into the woods, and you make the wrong turn.” Oh, snap! The fourth and final verse (or second half of BigX’s third verse) belongs to Langley (“Hope it burns you up like a cigarette”).  All told, BigXthaPlug and Ella Langley drop an enjoyable, if hellish, collaboration with “Hell At Night”. Strong, twangy vocals by Langley, a compelling cadence and flow by BigX, memorable lyrics, particularly the chorus, and a satisfying blend of country and hip-hop production make this song a winner.
