Theme & Lyrics

Bitmoji Image“Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.” Woo! 🎵 “Stayin’ Alive” is the quintessential disco song, period.  🎙 Bee Gees, comprised of the Gibb brothers (🎙  Barry, 🎙  Maurice, and 🎙  Robin), have ample hits.  None of the iconic trio’s hits is bigger or more recognizable than “Stayin’ Alive.” This dance-pop gem is an entire vibe.  Sure, it hails from a different musical era, but it remains fresh and relevant.

“Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk

I’m a woman’s man, no time to talk

Music loud and women warm

I’ve been kicked around since I was born.”

death drop dance moveWoo! So, why is “Stayin’ Alive” still ‘alive and well’ today? It’s timeless to the nth degree.  The groove is utterly infectious, making you want to get up and dance.  The production (Bee Gees, 🎛 Karl Richardson, and 🎛 Albhy Galuten), idiomatic of disco back-when, is slick and impressive, even four decades later.  That guitar riff and bass line are enough to get those feet movin’! The warm keys and strings also make our ears perk up! The falsetto vocals are ripe, with few other bands rivaling those high-flying head vocals, ha-ha.  Furthermore, the personality and the swagger of Bee Gees is on 10 with no shortage of confidence.  The chorus is the centerpiece – tuneful and easily recognizable.  Even so, the bridge – “I’m goin’ nowhere, somebody help me / Somebody help me, yeah” – is sweet too.

“Whether you’re a brother or whether you’re a mother

You’re stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive

Feel the city breakin’ and everybody shakin’

And we’re stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive

Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive

Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive.”

Final Thoughts 💭

Bitmoji ImageEver wondered how to write a killer dance-pop record?  Look no further than 🎵 “Stayin’ Alive” by 🎙 Bee Gees.  This is an exemplary blueprint that’ll have you striking that ‘disco pose’ up in the club, at home, or anywhere, honestly! There was no better record to kick off Dance Hitz 🕺 💃 🎶  than “Stayin’ Alive.”
