Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Billboard Hot 100 (12/12/20): Bad Bunny earns his first no. 1 album on the Billboard 200.
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. To reiterate what I said last week (BTS Tops Album & Song Charts), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that moving. This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations
from the Billboard 200
, and FOUR observations
from the Billboard Hot 100
, with
Bad Bunny earning his first no. 1 album with
El Ultimo Tour del Mundo.
Billboard 200
Bad Bunny has finally done it! Heβs earned his first no. 1 album with
El Ultimo Tour del Mundo, moving 116,000 units according to Keith Caulfield of Billboard. El Ultimo Tour del Mundo becomes the βfirst all-Spanish no. 1 album.β
Miley Cyrus earns the runner up spot on the Billboard 200 with
Plastic Hearts. Plastic Hearts performs better than Cyrusβ previous album,
Younger Now, which settled for a no. 5 start with fewer units.
BTS sees
BE slip from no. 1 to no. 3 in its second week on Billboard 200. Hey, one week at no. 1 is better than none at all, right? Right!
Following
Miley Cyrusβ
Plastic Hearts, the next highest debut on the chart hails from
Rylo Rodriguez. Rodriguezβs
G.I.H.F. (Goat in Human Form) launches at no. 37. Itβs the final debut in the top quarter of the Billboard 200.
Juicy J didnβt have the best week as far as chart success is concerned.
The Hustle Continues but does so only to the tune of a tepid no. 68 start.
Billboard Hot 100
24kGoldn and
Iann Dior reclaim the no. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with
βMood.β
Mariah Carey ascends from no. 14 to no. 2 with her former no. 1 Christmas gem,
βAll I Want for Christmas is You.β Also, worth noting,
Bobby Helms reenters the top 10 with his beloved holiday classic,
βJingle Bell Rockβ (ascends from no. 31 to no. 9).
Bad Bunny and
Jhay Cortez ascend from no. 15 to no. 5 with their hit,
βDakiti,β which appears on Bunnyβs aforementioned no. 1 album,
El Ultimo Tour del Mundo.
My favorite new country song (and sure to be your new favorite too),
βDicked Down in Dallasβ by
Trey Lewis, debuts at no. 65 on the Hot 100. Thatβs βbig.β
