It only takes ONE hit to solidify a musical legacy πŸ’―! On 1 Hit WONDERful πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘, we highlight songs that were the SOLE hit by a given musician.Β  To be fair, it is possible that the artists appearing on this list earned a minor hit or two, BUT for the most part, it’s that ONE hit that earned them recognition. So, in the 18th edition of 1 Hit WONDERful πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘, we dive into 🎡 β€œRolex”, Β the one hit wonder by πŸŽ™ Ayo & Teo.

Ayo & Teo, Rolex [πŸ“·: Columbia]β€œI just want a Rollie, Rollie, Rollie with a dab of ranch…” Say what? β€œI already got some designer to hold up my pants.” Noted.Β  β€œI just want some ice on my wrist, so I look better when I dance / Have you lookin’ at it, put you in a trance.” That’s a sick watch, that’s for sure! Rap brother duo πŸŽ™ Ayo & Teo scored a top-20 hit in 2017 with their drippy single, 🎡 β€œRolex”. β€œRolex” reached no. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was ultimately certified multiplatinum by the RIAA. Impressive.Β  Notably, it is the sole charting single on the pop charts by the duo.

β€œRolex” isn’t filled with depth – it’s a flex-fest. Hip-hop and drip are a match made in heaven.Β  Ayo & Teo embrace such.Β  Beyond the trance mentioned in the chorus, πŸŽ™ Teo asserts in the post-chorus, β€œCooler than a snowman with the ice all on me (Yeah) / Now your chick all on me, now your chick all on me (She on me).” He follows up with the first verse, which is incredibly confident, so much so that β€œMy diamonds goin’ retarded, your girl on deck, it’s a party.” WORD.Β  boxingIn the second verse, πŸŽ™ Ayo contrasts his brother, at least, in sound/vocal timbre, while matching his energy.Β  β€œBlue face Rollie, red face Rollie, ayy / Purple face Rollie like some Teletubbies,” he spits at the top. He adds some more spice, however: β€œIce on my neck cost like five K (five K) / I want a girl built just like Kim K (she thick) / Karate chop that bitch like a sensei (woo) / Pull of up in a β€˜Rari or a Bentley.” Again, 🎡 β€œRolex” lacks substance, but it is hella fun.Β  Furthermore, the duo get a lift from the production work of πŸŽ› BL$$D and Backpack.
