A$AP Ferg, Verified [Photo Credit: RCA]East coast rapper A$AP Ferg touts that ‘blue check’ throughout the course of his come-up banger, “Verified.” Important to note, it doesn’t ‘validate’ him.

“At 7 AM, I wake up, hit the green / I hit my teeth with Listerine / I pray to God to live my dream / My teeth gon’ gleam on magazine.” Nice to know.  Anyways, A$AP Ferg keeps it short and sweet on his single, “Verified.” We’ll do the same reviewing the single.  Basically, the New York rapper spits about being famous.  Usually, when someone is verified on a social network, that means that they have attained a certain number of followers and are ‘kind of a big deal.’  That is what has happened with Ferg on this two-minute banger.  The rest of the aforementioned chorus goes as follows:

“…That blue check on my Twitter screen / That blue check on my Insta-green / Blue check, it don’t validate me.”

So, A$AP Ferg is verified, but he doesn’t need verification to be validated.  Clever and meaningful, which is totally unexpected on this joint. On the first verse, the “blue check” dominates, as he raps about his come-up.  “Now all the girls, they swallowing ‘D’ / Back in the day, they ain’t riding with me.” The second verse is much of the same, including “You ain’t make a song with Madonna with me.” In between both verses, the aforementioned, ‘verified’ chorus appears.  As for the production, it’s menacing – perfect fuel for Ferg’s fire.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Verified” is a respectable banger.  There’s little to it mind you, but A$AP Ferg makes his point loud and clear, amplified by that “blue check.”  He won’t change the world with “Verified,” but that likely wasn’t his intention in the least anyways.
