A$AP Ferg, "Value" [Photo Credit: RCA]On the relatively brief but potent “Value,” A$AP Ferg continues to do what he does best – flex hard like a boss and drop surefire bangers.

A$AP Ferg seems to be always good for a banger. That might be an understatement.  “Shabba”, “Fuck Out My Face”, “New Level”, “Nasty (Who Dat)”, and “Floor Seats” are just some of the indisputable bangers that have come at the rapper’s hands. “Value,” the song currently at hand, is no exception – it definitely possesses ‘banger’ value.  “Value” keeps things relatively brief, failing to reach the three-minute mark.  Featuring souped-up, trap production by Razjah, it’s safe to say Ferg has a badass backdrop to spit his rhymes over.

Besides the production, it’s A$AP Ferg’s personality that shines.  The pre-chorus isn’t profound, for example, but the repetitiveness, coupled with his distinct tone and confidence goes a long way.

“Look at me… look at me now
Fuck is you kiddin’ me? All of my jewelry cost about a hundred thou’
Fuck all my enemies, never had sympathy, Fergie finna lay ‘em down
Sippin’ on Hennessey, hoppin’ out Bentley, fuckin’ your bitch in the mouth.”

Charming! The same can be said of the chorus, which is dominated by the phrase, “Look at me.” In Ferg’s eyes, you can say that the ‘value’ is legit.  On the verses, the clichés are ripe including sex (“Girl actin’ like she Alpo, put that cake all in my face”) and violence (“Know a couple nigga with the platanos / Them banana clips will fuck up your day”).  Even so, as the excerpted lyrics should confirm, A$AP Ferg certainly has a colorful delivery.

Final Thoughts

Before hearing “Value,” most of us already knew the value of A$AP Ferg.  Should his value ascend after dropping “Value?” Eh, not necessarily.  Ferg, again, is pretty awesome when it comes to bangers. “Value” is a good banger, but not a game changing one.  Still, if you need a confident, hard-hitting record added to your listening rotation, “Value” should definitely suffice.
