Ari Lennox, Get Close | Song Review 🎵

R&B singer/songwriter Ari Lennox impresses on her first solo single of 2023, the smooth and sensual, “Get Close.” 

“Ijust want you to call / So we can get congenial.” 🎙️ Ari Lennox seeks closeness to him 😍 on the sensual single, 🎵 “Get Close”.  Lennox penned the record alongside producers 🎛️ DZL and Wu10.  The backdrop matches the intimate, sensual nature of the songwriting, sounding smooth and incredibly soulful.  Sounds that fuel ⛽️ this fire 🔥 include electric piano 🎹, a robust bass line, and an ‘old-school’ drum groove.  Even as “Get Close” hearkens back to the past, it also sound refreshing.

In addition to the songwriting and awesome production, Ari Lennox is the biggest reason for the success of the record.  Her voice is magical – expressive, nuanced, and incredibly sophisticated.  She brings out the best in the tuneful melodies, integrating authenticity and personality.  Furthermore, her ad-libs are on-point, accentuating the closeness even more. 🎵 “Get Close” isn’t game changing per se, but it marks another instance where Lennox preserves the sanctity of R&B, keeping it alive and well.  One of the best R&B tracks of 2023 hands down.
