For the 12th Thankful Song 🙏🎶, we highlight “My Tribute,” where Andrae Crouch is thankful for everything God has done for him.

Before we dig into this uplifting, inspirational standout, let me remind you the premise of Thankful Songs 🙏🎶! On Thankful Songs 🙏🎶, we highlight songs in which the musician (or musicians) show gratitude about something or towards someone.  This idea came from the fact that in November, here in the United States of America, many Americans celebrate Thanksgiving.  So, what better way than to celebrate than select some awesome songs that exhibit gratitude? Our 12^th entry comes from the late gospel icon with 🎵 “My Tribute” from his 1975 album, 💿 Keep on Singin’.

“My Tribute” is one of Crouch’s most beloved songs. There’s a strong argument it’s his most acclaimed. From the start, Andrae highlights the sheer awesomeness and mercifulness of The Most High. “All that I am and ever hope to be / I owe it all to Thee,” he sings at the conclusion of the sole verse.  Of course, it’s the chorus(es) that are most memorable on the song oft referred to as “To God be the Glory.” That’s for good reason.  The first chorus features those laudatory key lyrics, concluding with the statement, “…For the things he has done.”  The second chorus is also quite moving, with the gratitude continuing quite ‘powerfully’:

“With His blood He has saved me
With His power He has raised me;
To God be the glory
For the things He has done.”

There’s even an awesome bridge, continuing the gratitude Crouch has toward a truly awesome God.
