1. GIVĒON, “TWENTIES”

BELOVED » Epic / Not So Fast LLC » 2025

GIVĒON, BELOVED [📷: Epic / Not So Fast LLC]

“Thought that if I put you first enough / We would last for sure.”
But, as Grammy-nominated R&B singer/songwriter GIVĒON (Giveon Evans) discovers, “But I was just young and dumb.” Bummer! “TWENTIES” marked Evans’ first single of 2025 and the third track from his second studio album, BELOVED. He penned the refined track alongside producers Sevn Thomas and Maneesh. Essentially, GIVĒON sings about wasting his young, ‘fun’ years on her:

“Spending my twenties on you (Oh)

I poured my heart in it

Don’t get me started

Spend my time wondering why

I spent my twenties on you.”

Live and learn. “TWENTIES” gives Evans more of a neo-soul and adult contemporary R&B sound.  It suits him perfectly.  Commencing with a distinct drum riff, the groove of “TWENTIES” settles into lilting, compound duple meter.  The production is gorgeous – lush, refined, and warm to the nth degree.  Evans delivers fabulous, nuanced, and soulful vocals. He sings with incredible authenticity and sincerity regarding wasting his twenties on her.  “Is anything black and white / When you’re barely twenty-two?” Nope. In the second verse, he continues singing, “I could tell the ship was goin’ down / I was so young and dumb.” To reiterate, live and learn (the singer turned 30 in February 2025). Ultimately, “TWENTIES” marks another terrific addition to the GIVĒON catalog. To quote Coming To America, “Goddamn, that boy can sing… He good”!

2. Mariah Carey, “Type Dangerous”

Here For It All » gamma. » 2025

Mariah Carey, Here For It All [📷: MARIAH / gamma.]

“Oh, yes, I want someone to step to me / Oh, yes, I want someone to rescue me / Oh, yes, I’ve never been afraid of love (Dangerous) / Oh, yes, that’s why I like ‘em dangerous.”
Word. In 2025, Grammy-winning R&B/pop singer-songwriter Mariah Carey returned with her 16th studio album, Here For It All, led by her first brand-new single in seven years, “Type Dangerous”. Notably, “Dangerous” samples the 1987 Eric B. & Rakim classic, “Eric B. Is President”. Carey, Daniel Moore II, and N.W.I. produced the comeback single. “Type Dangerous” features a sickening groove including clapping (“Ma-ma-make ‘em clap to this”), a bass-heavy beat, and hard-hitting drums. Backed by a sound instrumental, Mariah Carey commands from the beginning.  She convincingly sings the rhythmic melody with attitude (“I don’t have time for the rigamarole / Taking off my coat, clearing my throat”), confidence (“I came to the door, dripped in Balenci’ / Cropped leather coat and some nine-inch Fendis,” and “Certified diamonds like the songs I wrote”), and, of course, clear, seasoned vocals.

There is no shortage of intriguing lyrics, which require multiple listens to capture everything Mimi says. Like the first verse the second is jam-packed with ish.  “Fresh outta Sing Sing, nah, I’m just playin’ / That was just a castle and an evil king,” she shades ex-hubby Tommy Mottola while also referencing the correctional facility.  There’s more ear-catching moments, including “Computer boy toy, he was fun for a while / ‘Til I caught him on the web hacking other girls’ files,” and “Said we’d be together, but you didn’t stay forever / Now I guess it’s just whatever ‘til the twelfth of never.” So, where does this dangerousness reach a head? The chorus, where Carey sings coolly but highly effectively.

“I’m lookin’ for the dangerous type (Lookin’ for that danger)

I like ‘em dangerous (I like ‘em dangerous)

That’s my type

I’m lookin’ for the dangerous type

I said I like ‘em dangerous.”

While the compelling “Type Dangerous” is not the crowning achievement of her illustrious career,  it is always great to hear Mimi doing what she does best: singing!

3. Conan Gray, “This Song”

Wishbone » Conan Gray / Republic  » 2025

Conan Gray, Wishbone [📷: GirlyBoy, Inc. / Republic]

“You know that I love you / And I have a feeling that you love me back.”
Matters of the heart appear in the first line of the first verse of “This Song”, the first single from Wishbone, the fourth studio album by the handsome and talented Conan Gray. “This Song” finds Gray being shy about confessing to a close friend that he loves them (“I hope you can see if you read through these lines”). Gray wrote “This Song” while Ethan Gruska and Dan Nigro produced it.  The musical accompaniment shines, delivering gorgeous folk-pop and pop/rock vibes.  In addition to the standard instrumentation (keys, guitar, bass, and drums), the strings up the ante.

Conan Gray impresses with his beautiful voice. He masterfully brings the terrific, tuneful melodies to life. He is authentic and sincere as he sings about his relationship with this person, including “You joke ‘bout your mother / She can’t help but cry when she hears Elton John,” and “Your brown racer jacket, my hands through the sleeves / The smell of your perfume is all over me.” Cleverly, Gray references other songs throughout his career, which makes “This Song” feel even more accomplished. The chorus, which soars, is the crème de la crème. Gray’s expression and nuance are particularly exceptional:

“That I wrote this song about you

Something I wish you knew

Something I’ve tried to say

But now I’ll say it straight

I wrote this song for you.”

The music video is notable, too. It’s queer, depicting a desire between two boys.  There is apparent sexual confusion from Gray’s love interest, played by Corey Fogelmanis, while Gray, like in the song, is in love, beyond friendship, with him.  A big moment happens. They share a kiss, and their mutual love is confirmed. Aww! Jam-packed, “This Song” is authentic, beautiful, honest, and vulnerable.

4. GloRilla, “Typa”

“Typa” » CMG / Interscope » 2025

GloRilla, “Typa” [📷: CMG / Interscope]

“Yeah, I love me a trappin’-ass, dark-skinned, country-ass / Got it out the mud, six-one, ol’ thug ass.”
GloRilla (Gloria Hallelujah Woods) continues in the first verse of the brief single, “Typa”, “Talk real slick, big dick, big gun-ass / Pick a bitch up when we fuck, ol’ strong-ass, nigga.” Damn.  As always, the Grammy-nominated Memphis rapper is hard-nosed as fuck. Pardon my French, rather my f-bomb, but there is no other way to put it! The song sampled makes GloRilla’s unapologetic lyrics shocking.  The chorus is the first section unveiled, where the Keyshia Cole “Love” sample is obvious (pitched down).  Still, serving as the chorus, you can hear those signature cracks by the Grammy-nominated R&B singer: “Love, never knew what I was missin’ / But I knew once we start kissin’, I found…” Tommy Brown, Courtlin Jabrae, and Leather Jacket produced “Typa.” After the intro/chorus, the hip-hop cues kick in, specifically the knocking beat.  And, of course, GloRilla is aggressive to the nth degree regarding her desires and idea of L-O-V-E. With the first verse ‘rough around the edges,’ Ms. Woods isn’t kinder or gentler in the second.  “Fall in love every time we link (Goddamn), he got me sprung dot com (Oh Lord).” Oh Lord, indeed! She adds, “Nigga, I don’t wanna put you on a leash (Fuck that) / You a dog, I’m a dog, we can keep it in the streets (On gang) /… Yeah, we both outside, that’s my type of nigga (Ooh).” Charming… What does one make of “Typa”? That is a good question. Over two minutes, GloRilla keeps it 💯, NO CAP!

5. Don Toliver, “Tiramisu”

“Tiramisu” » Cactus Jack / Donnway & Co / Atlantic » 2025

Don Toliver, Tiramisu [📷: Cactus Jack / Donnway & Co / Atlantic]

“Yeah, call me when you need it late at night, you know I’m slidin’.”
Slidin’, huh? Okay, Don Toliver, I see you. The opening lyrics from the pre-chorus of “Tiramisu” set the tone. Cardo Got Wings and Polo Boy Shawty produced this short but sweet, pleasure-filled single. Toliver is accompanied by a lush, warm-sounding instrumental. Providing an anchor is a souped-up trap beat.  Toliver delivers melodic rap vocals that straddle hip-hop, pop, and R&B.  The lines are blurred.  The best section of the song is the chorus, where Toliver encourages to “Break it like some sticky glue,” and informs the world, her “Pussy taste sweet like it’s tiramisu.” Damn!

Beyond the pre-chorus and chorus, which lay back more, Toliver’s verse features a more agile cadence and flow. The lyrics are sexed-up – freaky to the nth degree.  “My hands all over her throat, she steady takin’ off my fitted,” he raps, and adds, “This shit right here pain, she squirtin’, you thought that it rained.” Ooh-wee! With the pleasure so potent, Don asserts, “I’m so in here down to get it, I’m soiled here, down in her kitty.” We’ll leave that right there.  Ultimately, “Tiramisu” is a pleasant, sexy rap song. Don Toliver enjoys her… You know 😈.

6. Jessie Murph, “Touch Me Like A Gangster”

Sex Hysteria » Columbia » 2025

Jessie Murph, Sex Hysteria [📷: Columbia]

“I like whips and chains, I like being tied to things, babe / I like some pain, turn me upside down on swings, baby.”
Oh, snap, Jessie Murph! Truly, WE LISTEN AND WE DON’T JUDGE! “I’d like to know, how far you gon’ go? / How far we gon’ go?” she continues in the pre-chorus. The Alabama-bred pop singer-songwriter brings the sass and the spice on “Touch Me Like A Gangster”, a single and highlight from her sophomore album, Sex Hysteria. Although the sex is progressive, “Touch Me Like a Gangster” has a classic, incredibly refined sound.  Bēkon, Laura Veltz, and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman produced this pop track with retro and vintage-sounding vibes (old-school pop and a dash of soul). The most impressive part of the song is the vocals. Murph sounds distinct from the first note, showing off her gritty, sultry, and throaty vocals. I love how Murph’s voice cuts – like scissors, baby! Of course, the sex can’t be ignored.  It is part of the charm and success of the song as well. Despite appreciating his tenderness, in the first verse, Murph informs him, “Boy, I got a sign that you’ll wanna see, baby.” In the second verse, she asserts, “You look like you like whips and chains, won’t you do something insane, baby?” Ooh-wee.  The section to beat, the crowning achievement, the crème de la crème, is the chorus.  It is bold, tuneful, and unforgettable to the nth degree!

“I’ll tell you this, my love

I do not give a fuck

I want you on your worst behavior

Touch me like a gangster

Rock me, baby boy, give it hell

This bed ain’t gon’ break itself.”

Damn, girl! Naughty, naughty, naughty, “Touch Me Like A Gangster” is that surefire guilty pleasure you aren’t able to resist.

7. Brent Faiyaz, “tony soprano.”

Brent Faiyaz, tony soprano. [📷: ISO Supremacy / UnitedMasters LLC]Per Brent Faiyaz (Christopher Brent Wood) via “tony soprano.”, “I’m really a don, no dada / But I take care of everybody / Put that on everybody.” So, the R&B singer-songwriter is channeling his inner Tony Soprano on the single. Credited as the sole writer, Faiyaz enlists eight producers to assemble the track.  That’s lots of cooks in the kitchen! But, he reaps the benefits with some satisfying sounds including an enigmatic piano intro, tape strings, water drop sound effect, and the groove. Despite the mob boss persona, Faiyaz sings with a radiant vocal tone. He gets support from sweet-sounding background vocals. When “tony soprano.” fully establishes itself, the melody is tuneful. “These hoes mad fun / Bitch, I’m not that funny,” Faiyaz asserts in the first verse, continuing, “Go ‘head and laugh for me / Know you want that bag from me.” An interlude arrives around the 1:45 mark. The second, verse post-interlude is more rhythmic than the first: “Two new Glocks and two new Rovers, they don’t got rims checked (No) /…Nigga took one of your kin, how he ain’t get blammed yet?” Another outro, the second interlude, concludes the engaging, intriguing, and somewhat unusual “tony soprano.”.

8. CMAT, “Take A Sexy Picture Of Me”

EURO-COUNTRY » CMATBABY / AWAL Recordings Ltd. » 2025

CMAT, EURO-COUNTRY [📷: CMATBABY / AWAL Recordings Ltd.]

“Oh, I’ve been having a horrible time / Of late, I get none of your sympathy / But all of the pain hits, and the fog lifts / And then it’s too much for therapy.”
That sounds heavy. Irish singer/songwriter CMAT (Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson) brings it on the memorable indie-pop/country/country-pop tinged song, “Take A Sexy Picture Of Me”, which she penned herself.  Oli Deakin produced this refreshing song from her 2025 album, EURO-COUNTRY, which was inspired by something awful: body shaming.

Despite being body-shamed, CMAT took an adverse situation and wrote a killer song. “Take A Sexy Picture Of Me” has plenty of selling points.  She delivers expressive, nuanced vocals.  Her tone is celestial.  Every note and melody that she sings, you buy what she’s selling. The songwriting is pitch-perfect and personal from the beginning.  Her aspirations for sexiness began young: “Nine years old, tryna wax my legs with tape.” In the second verse, she discusses things she did and with whom, but seems regretful as she asks, “Now tell me, what was in it for me?” The chorus, excerpted earlier, is the section to beat. It’s tuneful, with sensational lyrics. Another high point that catches the ear is the bridge, which distinguishes itself from the verses and chorus.  Older now, CMAT laments her window closing:

“You haven’t looked at me the same

Since I turned twenty-seven

Where goes my potential?

Oh, she’s up in heaven

Rest in peace to any chance of me

Dating within the station…”

Beyond the elite singing and personal and relatable songwriting, the production is top-notch.  Ultimately, “Take A Sexy Picture Of Me” is epic.  CMAT put her foot into this one.

9. Tyler, The Creator, “Thought I Was Dead” (Ft. ScHoolboy Q & Santigold)

CHROMAKOPIA » Columbia » 2024

Tyler, The Creator, Chromakopia [📷: Columbia]

“There’s more to life than just fuckin’ workin’, bro (They thought I was dead).”
Word. Of course, Grammy-winning rapper Tyler, The Creator (Tyler Okonma) was not dead. In 2024, following a three-year hiatus, Tyler dropped CHROMAKOPIA, another exceptional LP.  Among many highlights was “Thought I Was Dead”, where he tapped fellow West Coast rapper, ScHoolboy Q, and singer Santigold for the assist. Handling the production himself, Tyler created a fierce, striking, and vibrant rap banger.  Beyond the hard-hitting, syncopated beat, exuberant horns up the ante.  Not only is this some of Tyler’s sickest production work, but he drops his fair share of dope rhymes.  The chorus is infectious to the nth degree.  Why? Because, “Them niggas thought I was dead.” Woo!

The intro sets the tone for “Thought I Was Dead”: “You don’t wanna go to war with a soldier.” It samples “Basic Combat Training (BCT) – Marching to Chow” by Paul L.. Santigold performs the final line of the intro excerpted above. She also appears throughout the song with the colorful titular lyric, “They thought I was dead.” Tyler, The Creator snaps in the opening verse, asserting, “Okay, bitch, I’ve been trapped in a zoo / Nigga got plaques like the crack of a tooth,” and, referencing his past work, “Grab the blamer, fuck all the glitz and glamor / I want a crib in Atlanta, brodie, me and my bitch changin’ Pampers.” Woo!

ScHoolboy Q raps the second verse, showing off a badass cadence and flow. Perhaps his best line is, “Niggas tend to get rich, and they act weird (Weird) / How you walkin’ out the party with your butt pierced?” Damn! A fun bridge follows Q’s verse, performed by Tyler, accompanied by those sickening horns (“Packed in, goddamn, that dream…”). A second bridge follows the chorus, where Tyler informs us, “I don’t wanna be found, I don’t wanna be down.” He concludes “Thought I Was Dead” with an epic third verse filled with fiery bars. Among the gems: “White boys mockin’ this shit and y’all mad at me? Y’all can suck my dick,” “Bitch, you ain’t Coco Gauff, you can’t serve me,” “Fuck you know about being better than them niggas that you hate,” and “Why am I filled with this hate? Got freedom in every way / Y’all wanna take what I got, but y’all do not got what it take.” Anyone who thought that Tyler, The Creator was dead was mistaken. “Thought I Was Dead” slaps from start to finish. Nothing dead about this one!

10. Coco Jones, “Taste”

Why Not More? » High Standardz / Def Jam Recordings » 2025

Coco Jones, Why Not More? [📷: Def Jam Recordings / UMG Recordings, Inc.]

“A taste gets me in places / I’m chasin’ I can’t erase it,”
Coco Jones sings in the pre-chorus of “Taste”. She continues, tastefully, in the second track from her 2025 album, Why Not More?, “Taste me, boy, and I’ll taste you / That’s the way I feel when I’m slippin’ under.” Oh, snap! Even though she is tasteful, the Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter gives us sexy vibes from the beginning.  Notably, she is taken with this man.  Is her obsession toxic? Perhaps. It is toxic to some degree as “Taste” samples the Britney Spears classic, “Toxic”.  See the chorus for the full breadth of the genius toxicity!

“(With a taste of your lips I’m on a ride) Oh-ooh

(You’re toxic I’m slippin’ under) Oh, oh, oh

(Taste of poison paradise) Oh, ooh, yeah

(I’m addicted to you, don’t you know that you’re toxic?) Yeah.”

Ooh-wee! Beyond the marvelous choice of sampling, the production (Stargate, Jasper Harris, and Aaron Shadrow) is sleek. Jones ‘eats.’ Her vocals are husky, rich, and buttery smooth. Additionally, she throws a mean falsetto. “All up in my conscious / I don’t want another touch without you there,” Jones sings in the first verse, adding, “If I’m being honest, I’m falling in love.” Word. Beyond her first-class, top-notch lead vocals, Jones gets excellent support from the background vocals.  Even if “It’s too good, I’m too attached,” the “Taste” Coco gives listeners is delicious!

11. Benjamin, “Tommi (seksipommi)”

“Tommi (seksipommi)” » Warner Music Finland » 2025

Benjamin, Tommi (seksipommi) [📷: Warner Music Finland]

“Oh Tommi, Tommi, hey neighbor Tommi / When did you become a sex bomb?”
That is a good question, Benjamin (Benjamin Peltonen). Our handsome and talented Finnish pop star has his eyes on his neighbor, who has ‘glowed up’ something fierce. “Tommi (seksipommi)” (“Tommy (Sex Bomb)”) is sung exclusively in Peltonen’s native language, Finnish. Peltonen composed “Tommi” alongside Iivari Suosalo and producer Atso Soivio. “Tommi (seksipommi)” features sleek, pop production work.  It is perfect for this gay 🌈 pop record.  Benjamin serves up smooth vocals. Despite being enamored with ‘Tommi,’ it never sounds as if he breaks a sweat. We know he is sweating though (“Oh Tommy…/ You have become a goddamn sex bomb / Would you like to have a sleepover [or go out] again?”). Peltonen sings in his lower register during the verses.  In the first verse, everything seems to stop as the hottie walks into the bar.  In the second, Peltonen wants him badly.  In the pre-chorus, he still can’t believe that Tommi is the same Tommi next door (“Everyone stares at you / I can’t even recognize you”). “Tommi (seksipommi)” features tuneful melodies throughout. The enthusiastic, big chorus is the centerpiece, thanks to Tommi,” of course! There is a fabulous contrast during the bridge, which is energetic and maintains the ‘high-flying’ nature of the record (“We don’t need our moms’ approval / To have fun ‘til sunrise”). Benjamin ‘does the damn thing’ on “Tommi (seksipommi)”.  This queer pop single is a surefire gem!

12. Gracie Abrams, “That’s So True”

The Secret of Us (Deluxe) » Gracie Abrams / Interscope » 2024

Gracie Abrams, The Secret of Us (Deluxe) [📷: Grace Abrams / Interscope]

“I could go and read your mind / Think about your dumb face all the time / Living in your glass house, I’m outside.”
Matters of the heart, from a post-relationship perspective, shape “That’s So True”, the 15th track on The Secret of Us (Deluxe). Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Gracie Abrams can easily read her ex-boyfriend based on being in a relationship with him. Since their union ended, he has moved on, dating a new girl.  As for Gracie, she’s still affected by him and the end of their relationship. Does she want him back? Lines like, “You’re an idiot, now I’m sure / Now I’m positive, I should go and warn her” suggest she escaped, and she should be the bigger person and warn his new girl. “That’s So True” is a deluxe cut, but it earned Gracie Abrams her first top 10 hit (number six on the Billboard Hot 100).

Gracie Abrams and Audrey Hobert penned “That’s So True.” Abrams, Aaron Dessner, and Julian Bunetta produced it. “That’s So True” has a nice driving nature, led by the guitar accompaniment.  Abrams’ vocals are smooth, but she still brings some ‘edge’ to “That’s So True.” “What’d she do to get you off? (Uh-huh) / Taking down her hair like, oh my God / Taking off your shirt, I did that once / Or twice, uh,” Gracie sings in the colorful second verse, adding, “No, I know, I know I’ll fuck off / But I think I like her, she’s so fun / Wait, I think I hate her, I’m not that evolved.” Word. She shines during the centerpiece, the chorus:

“Ooh, bet you’re thinking, ‘She’s so cool’

Kicking back on your couch, making eyes from across the room

Wait, I think I’ve been there too, ooh.”

Another highlight from “That’s So True” is the rhythmic melodic lines. We don’t wish the pain of a defunct relationship on anyone but Abrams’ expired union, and her efforts to ensure the ‘next woman up’ is aware he’s ‘no good’ (maybe…) is our listening pleasure.  “That’s So True” is truly a fine song.

13. Kendrick Lamar, “tv off” (Ft. Lefty Gunplay)”

GNX » pgLang / Interscope » 2024

Kendrick Lamar, GNX [📷: pgLang / Interscope]

“All I ever wanted was a black Grand National / Fuck being rational, give ‘em what they ask for.”
Ooh-wee! Thus begins “tv off”, one of the best songs from GNX, the 2024 album by Grammy-winning and Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar. “TV off” is a two-part song produced by Mustard, Sounwave, Jack Antonoff, Sean Momberger, and Kamasi Washington.  That is a talented team! Both parts of the song go hard – they are sleekly produced. Notably, K-Dot gets the assist from rapper Lefty Gunplay who appears in the outro (“Shit gets crazy, scary, spooky, hilarious”).  Word 💯!  The star of the show is Kendrick Lamar, NO CAP!

In PART ONE, Kendrick delivers the intro (excerpted above), choruses, and two verses. After expressing his desire for a Buick GNX, K-Dot delivers a killer chorus. He asserts, “Few solid niggas left, but it’s not enough,” speaking to the lack of good, trustworthy people.  One of the most spirited lines from the first chorus is, “Say you bigger than myself, but it’s not good enough (Huh) / I get on they ass, yeah, somebody gotta do it / I’ll make them niggas mad, somebody gotta do it.” Woo! Kendrick is relentless in the verses, too. “It’s the alpha and omega, bitch, welcome home,” he spits in the first verse, adding, “This is not a song / This a revelation, how to get a nigga gone.” In the second, he memorably informs us, “I hate a bitch that’s hatin’ a bitch and they both hoes / I hate a nigga hatin’ on them niggas and they both broke.” PART TWO is equally, if not more memorable.  It starts with Lamar’s enthusiastic shout-out: “MUSTARD!” From there, he delivers the infectious, unforgettable chorus: “Niggas actin’ bad, but somebody gotta do it / Got my foot up on the gas, but somebody gotta do it / Huh, turn his TV off, turn his TV off.” Unlike part one, there is only one verse. Kendrick eats it up, delivering potent, thought-provoking rhymes in the vernacular. “I’m in the city where the flag be gettin’ thrown like it was pass interference,” he spits, adding, “So when I made it out, I made about 50K from a show / Tryna show niggas the ropes before they hung from a rope.” With a plethora of memorable lyrics, Kendrick Lamar kicks ass and takes names on “tv off”.

“Only one love, got credited now / One love and another man down.”
Woo! English singer, DJ, and rapper Shygirl (Blane Muise) taps Honduran, Canada-based singer Isabella Lovestory, and English singer/songwriter PinkPantheress (Victoria Beverley Walker) for her 2025 single, “True Religion”. Star power, baby! “True Religion” clocks in under three minutes in duration.  It thrives off a sickening beat and colorful synths. Shygirl, Oscar Scheller, and Nick León produced serving up decadent ear candy.

All parties involved serve up ample personality. The melodies are rhythmic.  The lyrics are unapologetic, particularly the chorus performed by Muise:  “You know you love me like a webcam girl / Webcam, webcam, webcam girl / Pussy too tight, made the mandem purr / Mandem, mandem, mandem purr.” Muise also performs the first verse, memorably asserting, “Big batty, 3D, better run the 3G / No weak signal, heavy link with me.” Lovestory ‘brings the heat’ in the second verse with lyrics performed exclusively in Spanish (“Se pone delulu con este ass,” which translates as “He gets crazy with this ass”).  As for PinkPantheress, she appears in the bridge (“True religion, get no higher”) and the outro, which features the chorus lyrics. Ultimately, “True Religion” is an entertaining listening experience.

15. Beats By AI, “They Fingered My Stink”

“They Fingered My Stink” » Beats By Ai » 2025

Beats By AI, They Fingered My Stink [📷: Beats By Ai]

“Well, I went down to Georgia / Now my booty’s out of order / Cuz I found some good ole boys and boy / They put me in a corner.”
Oh, boy… What exactly transpired in that corner? After some moonshine, “They bent me over / Said that booty’s lookin’ tight / They fingered my stink…” Gah-day-um 😳! Beats By AI dropped an outlandish, NSFW country tune with “They Fingered My Stink”, which lasts just a minute and a half.  That is long enough for a man to be violated by multiple men… “They Fingered My Stink” is focused on a hole – a man’s ‘enticing’ tight, pink asshole. The nameless victim of drunken, finger-banging touts the opening in his tush: “Oh lord my stink is so damn pink / And fingers love to blast that thing.” He adds, “Georgia boys especially / Wanna watch me drink and make it wink.” He warns us, “Yeah, Georgia Boys love a tight-ass stinker / And when they smell one, they warm up the fingers,” adding “So, maybe next time I should spare my cheeks / And never let a Georgia boy near my stink.” In case you live under a rock and didn’t catch the drift, post-anal sexual experiences, soreness is to be expected. Our protagonist’s butt is sore since, “they blasted my cheeks / My knees were so weak / They fingered my stink for an hour at least / I was cutting the cheese, they were loving that thing.” “They Fingered My Stink” is one of the most outlandish and unhinged songs I have heard in some time.  Making this gay-ass (🤭) country record even wackier is the AI-generated cover art. The victim is frightened by those smiling Georgia Boys who are enjoying his stink far too much.  Oh, brother 😶!

16. The Beaches, “Touch Yourself”

No Hard Feelings » The Beaches / AWAL Recordings America, Inc » 2025

The Beaches, No Hard Feelings [📷: The Beaches / AWAL Recordings America, Inc]

“You said I should / Try to come again / But when I do / Dark thoughts creep on in.”
Come, huh? Is that the right form of the word? Anyways, the innuendo is ripe from Canadian alternative rock band The Beaches (Jordan Miller, Kylie Miller, Leandra Earl, and Eliza Enman-McDaniel). Unfortunately for lead singer Jordan Miller, no action goes down on “Touch Myself”.  Why? Per the chorus of the fourth track from the collective’s 2025 album, No Hard Feelings, “But I’m scared to even touch myself / ‘Cause when I do, I think of you, oh-oh.” Uh-oh – it’s giving a heaping dose of heartbreak 💔. Per Stereo Gum, in a press release, The Beaches stated the following about “Touch Myself”:

‘Touch Myself’ is a song about being so heartbroken you can’t even masturbate, because when you do, it just makes you think of your ex. It’s about how grief can sneak into the most private parts of your life and leave you feeling totally wrecked.”

You know it’s bad when you can’t enjoy solo time. Jordan penned “Touch Myself” with her bandmates, Kylie, Leandra, and Eliza, as well as with Justin Tranter and Ryland Blackinton.

“I’m okay in the sunlight,” Miller sings in the first verse, and continues, “The memories are wasted in the nighttime.” Yep, because that’s a great time to… you, know. Interestingly, she asserts in the second verse, “Up my insurance.” Why, Jordan? “Got therapy bills in the millions.” The need for therapy is the result of heartbreak.  She gets even more personal about private matters in the third verse, mentioning her toys. But, again, they aren’t being used: “‘Cause everything waist down is broken /… ‘Cause the strap’s in the trash with my self-esteem.” To sum things up, the heartbreak 💔 on “Touch Myself” is a serious bummer.  The musicianship, however, is not a bummer in the least.  The driving alternative pop/rock backdrop is #winning, particularly given the pace – a nice, medium tempo. Jordan brings the heat, delivering a commanding, expressive, and striking vocal performance.  You might say, The Beaches ate and left no crumbs on this alluring, non-masturbatory heartbreak anthem.

17. Artemas, “test drive”

“test drive” » Artemas » 2025

Artemas, test drive [📷: Artemas]

“So, put some faith in me, and we’ll get married for the night / Only I can feed the flame that’s burnin’ in your eyes.”
Artemas continues singing in the tuneful chorus of “test drive”, “No one has to know the things that make you lose your mind / Put some faith in me, I’ll take you for a test drive.” When the English singer-songwriter is at his horniest, he is often at his best.  “Test drive,” which he wrote and produced with Daintree, is no exception. “Test drive” benefits from its darker sound and electronic, hip-hop-driven production palette.  The beat is sick, NO CAP! It benefits from a great harmonic progression.  It is nothing too crazy, but it is striking. Vocally, Artemas excels with his chilly, falsetto vocals.  His instrument features various effects, most notably, reverb. The tuneful chorus excerpted above marks one of the biggest selling points with its memorable lyrics and melody.  Still, the verse and bridge ‘catch the ear too.’ “You’re lookin’ for somebody that can fill the void,” he sings in the verse, and adds, “I can be that for you, I can keep touchin’ you.” Later, on the bridge, he asserts, “All your fantasies, all your little secrets / Let me take the lead / I can make you scream all night long.” “Test drive” reminds me of a The Weeknd song, with its sexual script and ripe tenor/falsetto-laden vocals.  It is a surefire vibe for an artist who ‘kills it’ when it comes to ‘soundtracking’ the bedroom.

18. Linkin Park, “Two Faced”

From Zero » Linkin Park, LLC / Warner » 2024

Linkin Park, From Zero [📷: Linkin Park, LLC]

“That’s when I figured out where it led / Beginnin’ to realize that you put me over the edge.”
Oh, really, Mike Shinoda? Please, Mike, tell us more. The Linkin Park standout adds in the pre-chorus, “The dark’s too vivid, the light’s not there.” Huh, that’s interesting! So… what are you getting at? Well, according to Emily Armstrong in the chorus of “Two Faced”, “Two-faced, caught in the middle / Caught in the middle / Too late, countin’ to zero / Countin’ to zero.” Clearer… for the most part! “Two Faced” is the eighth track from From Zero, the 2024 comeback album by the Grammy-winning rock band.

Armstrong takes over vocal duties post-Chester Bennington (1976 – 2017) 😥, bringing some badass, assertive, and powerful vocals during the chorus. The melody is quite memorable during this section.  Later, Armstrong brings things down, whispering during the bridge (“I can’t hear myself think”), before she ‘powers up’ with screamed, unclean vocals. Rock on 🤘! Mike Shinoda raps in both verses and pre-choruses, setting up this two-faced-ness. “Last time, you told me it wasn’t true / And pointin’ every finger at things that you didn’t do,” he spits, continuing, “So, that’s why I kept missin’ the clues / And never realized that the one that did it was you.” That is some two-faced shit! Beyond the engaging performances of Shinoda and Armstrong, the music kicks ass and takes names.  The guitars are jagged and raucous, the bass sounds mean, and the drums pummel. Also, for good measure, “Two Faced” is set in a minor key. We will never forget Chester or the classic lineup of Linkin Park, but this new-look version conjures up some angst-laden magic!

“Bring your ass back to the crib, girl, you know that / We can go laps in the crib, alright.”
Oh, snap! Belfast singer Jordan Adetunji taps kwn for the assist in “Too Many Women”. The brief, sub-two-minute single is the second track from his 2025 album, A Jaguar’s Dream. Adetunji produced alongside Take A Daytrip, 18YOMAN, and VillaBeatz. “Too Many Women” samples “Broke Bitch” by Too $hort. “Ah, tryna do you in some Saint Laurent,” Adetunji sings in the first verse, continuing, “In the mirror, watch you turn me on / You was ready for me all along, just walked into it.” Word. The chorus, excerpted above, is the centerpiece.  There, Jordan continues singing, “Your booty bounce match with the kick, girl, you know / I’ma give it to you, do you right, if you stay.” Woo! In the post-chorus, he confirms he’s a player because of “Too many women.” Kwn enters the mix in the second verse, keeping it a buck: “Shit, your ex-ni-nigga, your lil’ еx-nigga coul-couldn’t even take it home / I had you in this car for a minute and got you scratching backseats.” Beyond the memorable vocals from Adetunji and kwn, the instrumental is lit.  The beat anchors, the synths are rich, and the vibe is lit. “Too Many Women” is short but ultimately, pretty sweet!

20. Johnny Orlando, “Temptation”

Johnny Orlando, Temptation [📷: Not A Label]

“(La-la-la-la) It’s outrageous, I’ll just say it / (La-la-la-la) She’s a t-t-t-t-t-temptation / (La-la-la-la) It’s contagious, can’t contain this / (La-la-la-la) She’s a t-t-t-t-t-temptation.”
Johnny Orlando is a hot Canadian Gen-Z musician. No, it’s not only his looks 🥵 but also the singing and vibe he brings to his craft.  There is no way to resist temptation in his single, “Temptation”.  Sure, Orlando flaunting his tattoos, underwear waistband, and midriff amplifies the unavoidable temptation, but so do the lyrics, tuneful melodies, and vocal performance.  “Temptation” was penned by Johnny, Darian Orlando, and producer Austen Healey Albano.

The temptation in “Temptation” is not Johnny, despite how tempting he is 😈.  She’s the culprit, and she has Orlando being a bad boy. Even though he avoids her surroundings, he’s not avoiding a ‘taken’ woman. “‘Cause I know the guy that you’ve been going out with / I guess that we’ll just have to work around him.” Damn, Johnny! To make matters worse, he adds, “But fuck if he knows /… I bet you’re taking me home.”  We also find out that Johnny and her ex look alike.  Even so, he’s convinced, “I’m the one you’ll keep.” He’s also scared of her: “You scare the shit outta me / Oh, how you get what you please.” Woo! All told, “Temptation” is a fun, naughty, but not-too-naughty gem from Johnny Orlando.

21. Cub Sport, “This Boy’s In Love”

“This Boy’s In Love” » Cub Sport » 2025

Cub Sport, This Boy’s In Love [📷: Cub Sport]

“This time, fight fire with fire / ‘Cause, baby, tonight the world belongs to you and I.”
Australian indie-pop collective Cub Sport never ceases to amaze. Over the years, Tim Nelson and company have dropped some surefire bops that more folks need to be buzzing about stateside.  In 2025, Cub Sport released a cover of “This Boy’s In Love”, originally recorded by The Presets (Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes) in their 2008 album, Apocalypso. Nelson produced the Cub Sport version.

If you were naïve of The Presets’ original, you would assume this was a Cub Sport original.  In the indie-pop collective’s hands, it becomes a stripped piano ballad. This is starkly different from The Presets’ original, which is quicker, groovier, with electronic instrumentation.  Cub Sport maintains a chilling, cool vibe.  Besides the piano, light strings enter, but subtlety remains the modus operandi.  Nelson sings beautifully, delivering an authentic, nuanced, and tender performance. The chorus is nothing short of divine!

“This boy’s in love, love

This boy’s in love

Under the city

Under the city lights.”

In Nelson’s hands, as a gay married man (bandmate Sam Netterfield is his husband), “This Boy’s in Love” confirms an enduring same-sex relationship, one where, despite being judged for their love, they will remain ‘locked-in’ until the very end. The second verse (“Don’t tell the world what we’ve known”) grows more dynamic, but still never breaks a sweat. The second chorus is significantly louder than the rest of the song. The ‘come down’ is sweet, with Nelson wowing with his ripe falsetto. This radiant, stripped cover of “This Boy’s In Love” does not need to be overanalyzed – it is a stunning song!

22. Adina Howard, “T-Shirt & Panties” (Ft. Jamie Foxx)

The Second Coming » Rufftown Entertainment » 2004

Adina Howard, The Second Coming [📷: Rufftown Entertainment]

I just got one question to ask you though / What’s that? / What do you have on right now?
The answer that R&B singer Adina Howard responds with is “T-shirt and my panties.” “T-Shirt & Panties” is the sixth track from her 2004 album, The Second Coming.  She taps Academy and Grammy-award-winning actor/singer/songwriter Jamie Foxx for the assist. Billy Moss produced this naughty joint.

“T-Shirt & Panties” features a slow tempo with sensual music cues and production.  Howard delivers smooth vocals that scream S-E-X.  The most memorable moment of the song is the chorus where she reveals she’s wearing her t-shirt and panties. Still, she has plenty of ear-catching moments in the verses.  In the first, she titillates fiercely: “Picture this / I’m in my bed / Body’s hot / Soaking wet / Thinking ‘bout the things I like to do.” Damn, girl! She gets freakier, say, to the tune of wetness and taste… The second verse is equally nasty, with innuendo-laden lines like “Saddle up and be prepared to ride” and “Gonna turn around / Hit it from behind.” In the third verse/bridge, which features a different melody and harmonic progression, Howard continues her sexual ways, though less overt than the previous verses.  The big takeaway from “T-Shirt & Panties” is… SEX! Duh!

23. Benjamin Elgar, “Too High”

“Oh, my / How they make you so fine?”
That’s a damn good question, Benjamin Elgar. How, my dear boy, did you become so hot 🥵 😮‍💨? The Paris-born pop/R&B singer is referencing another person’s ‘fineness’ on “Too High”, but can you help but stare at Ben? Fierce in looks and the radiance of his ‘high’ tenor voice, “Too High,” the eighth track from his 2025 album, Make It Through The Night, is a high-flying sex song sure to make you horny AF.  Elgar penned and produced it with The Last Artful, Dodgr and John Ho.

“Too high, too high / Baby to focus.”
Damn right, Ben! The handsome fella needs a hand in a specific part of his anatomy: “Could you stroke it for me? / Drop everything / And come float on a beam.” Oh, snap! He continues to tease and titillate the listeners with ripe innuendo.  “They want a taste of this, I know / Get a good grip on this I know / I know you want me.” Ooh-wee! Adding to the ‘pole-tastic’ nature of “Too High,” Elgar adds, “They want to kiss down low.” Sex is big on “Too High” where it sounds like our handsome Parisian tenor is ready to… ‘release.’

24. William Bell, “Tryin’ To Love Two”

‘70s Soul Number 1’s » UMG Recordings, Inc. » 2007

Various Artists, 70s Soul Number 1s [📷: UMG Recordings, Inc.]

“When you’re trying to love two / It sure ain’t easy to do,”
William Bell (b. 1939) sings soulfully on his biggest hit, “Tryin’ To Love Two”. His assertion is correct, considering Bell is trying to manage his main squeeze and a side piece. The song appeared on Bell’s comeback album, Comin’ Back for More, released in 1977 via Mercury. “Tryin’ To Love Two” was Bell’s only top 40 hit. It peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.  It reached the top spot on the R&B songs chart. Bell wrote and produced this ‘70s gem with Paul Mitchell.

William Bell has a gorgeous musical backdrop supporting him. It is lushly orchestrated with cool woodwinds, sophisticated strings, and articulated, exuberant brass.  Also, the rhythm section is locked in with an epic bass line, organ, and guitar. The groove cooks while the instrumental riffs are sickening. Meanwhile, Bell delivers buttery smooth vocals, specifically in the verses. “I got a soman at home / That’s sweet as can be / A woman on the outside / Crazy about me,” he sings, adding, “I’m caught in the middle / Of a three-way love affair / Caught up in this triangle / Can’t go nowhere.” Oh, snap! Adding insult to injury, Bell asserts, “I need to be three men in one.” The section to beat is the chorus, excerpted earlier in all its two-loving glory. Bell’s ad-libs are gritty ad-libs, steeped in southern soul. Beyond his vocals, he is assisted by gorgeous backing vocals. William Bell knows he’s dead wrong, but being dead wrong by “Tryin’ To Love Two” never sounded better than this unforgettable soul gem that screams unfaithfulness.

“I got a man I love / I got a man I like / Every time I fuck them mens / I give ‘em the doggone clap 👏.”
Lucille Bogan 🤢 🤮 🥴 🥴 🥴! According to the late blues singer, also called Bessie Jackson, “That’s the kind of pussy that they really like.”  Bogan was risqué AF – ahead of her time. Nothing about “Till the Cows Come Home”, recorded in 1934, is family-friendly or innocent. The excerpted lyrics are only the surface of the sexually charged lyrics that Bogan sings. “You can fuck my cock or suck my cock / Or leave my cock alone.” What more can you say but ‘Cock-a-doodle-doo 🐓!’ Singing about penis in the 1930s? Savage! She adds in the colorful second verse, “Honey, I piss all night long / You can fuck my cock or suck my cock / Baby until the cows come home.” MOO 🐮! Even after the second verse, she remains brutally honest and filthy.  “You know both of my mens / They are tight like that / They got a great big dick just like a baseball bat / Ooh, fuck me.” Wow! She describes herself in the fourth verse as “a bitch from Baltimore,” adding, “I’ve got spunk from them hairs that will shut the door.” In the fifth verse, she’s “got a big broad ass.” In the sixth, she’s all about reciprocation, men: “If you suck my pussy / Baby, I’ll suck your dick / I’ll do it to you, honey, ‘til I make you shit.” Yikes! Lucille Bogan brings ample personality to one of the nastiest songs you’ll ever hear.
