6ix9ine, STOOPID [Photo Credit: TenThousand Projects]For as “lit” as 6ix9ine proclaims himself to be on “STOOPID,” the single, assisted by Bobby Shmurda, is empty and rather forgettable.

“B*tch, I’m lit on the ‘Gram, a million likes, you see my shit / A b*tch DM for the dick, but I probably wouldn’t hit…” Rapper 6ix9ine is undoubtedly the ‘poster child’ of controversy – he’s quite the polarizing figure. Despite having the odds clearly stacked against him, he’s had his fair share of success, including a breakout hit, “FEFE” featuring Nicki Minaj. He would follow up “FEFE” with the uncharacteristic Latin-tinged record, “BEBE”, featuring Anuel Aa, a controversial figure in his own right.  Now, 6ix9ine ‘returns to form’ on “STOOPID,” featuring incarcerated rapper, Bobby Shmurda.

Thankfully, “STOOPID” is a brief record, merely clocking in just north of two-and-a-half-minutes.  The single commences with an annoying, pitch-shifted vocal intro.  To make it even more annoying, it’s pitched up as opposed to down.  As aforementioned, it was noted that 6ix9ine returns to form. How? Screaming, aggressive vocals where the rapper sounds as if he’s going to absolutely devour the microphone.  His chorus is the first notable section of the song, and it’s totally devoid of depth.

“B*tch, I’m silly

Up them choppers, shoot your shit up, let’s get busy

Drinkin’ Henny, goin’ brazy, poppin’ pillies

Sex Money Murda, shoutout all my blazing Billie’s (all my Billie’s) /

We in yo’ city (we in yo’).”

Fittingly, 6ix9ine is supported by a hard-nosed beat and malicious-sounding production – that’s a pro.  He raps the majority of the verse, which is filled with profanity and again, devoid of depth.  Case in point:

“Shoutout my apes in the f**kin’ zoo (Falayo)

Falayo, they gon’ shoot

Spin a hoop, who the f**k is you?

Who the fuck you know, n***a? No, n***a…”

Don’t worry – Bobby Shmurda appears during the break. His rhymes include references to oral sex (*rolls eyes*) and the “Shmoney dance” (*rolls eyes even more*).

Final Thoughts

Keeping it 1000, “STOOPID” is merely okay.  This record isn’t particularly memorable and certainly not transcendent by any means.
