In my eyes, any and everything can be a playlist.  Should that be my philosophy? Maybe or maybe not, but, musicians have written and performed songs covering a plethora of topics.  Some topics are less family-friendly than others.  Surprisingly, there are many songs about wet dreams. 1. Artemas, “wet dreams”

English-Cypriot alt-pop singer, songwriter, and producer Artemas (Artemas Diamandis) is adept at singing about sex. Sex is part of the reason for the success of his mixtape, yustyna.  Songs like “caroline”, “ride me darling”, and “mess of me, sexually” all have sexual components.  The sleekly produced “Wet dreams” is no different.  Following the ‘high’ of the intro and eventual post-chorus, Diamandis shares the sticky chorus:

“And now I’m in your wet dreams

You said you don’t know what it means

Now all you wanna do is sleep (Ooh), ooh

Lemme show you what it means

You get on your knees, oh, for me.”

Wow. It’s giving SEX. Diamandis continues in the verse, “You wake up in a sweat /… and you’re wet /… Did I leave a little mark on your neck?” Oh, snap! Hickeys aside, Artemas keeps the ‘banger’ lyrics coming.  He knows he’ll be a superstar 🔜 because of “the fact I’m even on your mind,” and while “The world knows all your secrets, only I know the whole truth.” “Wet dreams” in the hands of Artemas Diamandis are hella satisfying.

2. Adam Lambert, “Wet Dream”

AFTERS (EP) // More is More LLC // 2024

“Lose my mind, get psychotic / Imagining all the things you like.” Get psychotic? Oh, my! It’s the imagination part that is most fun, however, particularly when it comes to sexual dreams. Hard to come by but possible after a certain age, Adam Lambert references wet dreams in “WET DREAM”, the second track from his 2024 EP, AFTERS. “WET DREAM” was penned by Lambert, Ferras, JHart, Sarah Hudson, and producer, Zhone. The sleekly produced, dance-pop banger thrives off a stellar beat, electrifying synths, and sexy instrumental and vocal vibes.

“WET DREAM” has no shortage of intriguing lyrics.  In the second verse, Adam Lambert sings, “Purple Haze, psychedelic / Wake me up and make the dream feel real.” The sexual experiences of wet dreams aren’t real sadly, but, Lambert wants to experience the real deal 😈. He is particularly playful on the song’s refrain with breathy, seductive vocals: “In the zone, here we go-go, silicon / Now you know how a homo take it home.” He’s not ashamed of his sexuality, nor should he be. The refrain occurs once before the chorus and reappears at the end of the record. The chorus is infectious:

“I can’t sleep ‘til we’re down in the deep

All I need is your body heat

I can’t sleep ‘til we’re down in the deep

I dive into your love like a wet dream.”

During the chorus, Adam is commanding, delivering some sickening, high-powered pipes.  All told, “WET DREAM” is a sexy dance-pop cut. It’s not over-sexual but whenever you mention wet dream, there’s no way it can’t be sexual, right? Right!

3. SNOW WIFE, “WET DREAM”

“WET DREAM” // SNOWGLOBE // 2024

“We’re always getting into fun, boy, down for the night.” WOO! SNOW WIFE, the honorable ‘queen of trash pop’ (per her IG), released the hella sticky, wet single, “WET DREAM” in the year of our Lord, 2024. And HELL NO, in case you’re wondering, “WET DREAM” has nothing to do with Jesus… It’s two-and-a-half minutes of hearty sinning, baby 😈! “WET DREAM” was sleekly produced by lil aaron and atlgrandma. Aaron and atlgrandma serve up rhythmic synths and an anchoring groove fit for a trash pop queen! That’s where those playful, raspy vocals by SNOW WIFE come into play. The lyrics are edgy but SNOW WIFE has done worse – an understatement.  “And now we’re living on the run, boy, Bonnie and Clyde,” she adds to the above-excerpted lyrics from the first verse. In the second verse, she playfully riffs off a children’s nursery rhyme, singing, “One, two, three, four, I declare a slut war.”  As a proud elementary music teacher, I can attest that ‘slut wars’ aren’t part of that nursery rhyme, let alone the music curriculum 😳 🥴! The section to beat is the chorus:

“Let’s play spin the bottle in the backseat

I’ll get drunk and freaky if you ask me

Kiss me like a lover in the movies

I feel like I’m living in a wet dream.”

Those wet dreams are potent! The final chorus is extended.  SNOW WIFE adds, “Let’s get high and pass out in the front yard / Take it off and touch me ‘til we go hard…” What more needs to be said?

4. jxdn, “WET DREAM (IT’S YOU)”

WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS // DTA / Elektra // 2024 

“Countless hours making / Empty prayers never answered.”  And that’s the entirety of the first verse of “WET DREAM (IT’S YOU)” by Jxdn (Jaden Hossler). In an age of rhythmic and wordy melodies, “WET DREAM” goes against the grain. The 15^th track from his 2024 LP, WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS,  features a lovely, legato melody during the verses. Hossler penned this nighttime fantasy with producers Andrew Goldstein and Travis Barker. Unsurprisingly, the drumming is sick – Barker kicks ass and takes names on the drums 💪. JXDN offers up sweet vocals. He sings in an undertone during the verses. Sorry, please don’t judge me,” he sings in the second verse, concluding, “Your heart beating keeps me wondering.” In the pre-chorus, he asserts, “I’m not (I’m not) what you need / You are (You are) my wet dream.”  That’s one way to put it! The chorus is more dynamic than the verses or pre-chorus:  “Forever, forever / It’s you, it’s you, it’s you.” For good measure, in the outro, Hossler adds, “It’s always been you.” “WET DREAM (IT’S YOU)”: a surefire, musical wet dream… something like that 😝!

5. Gregory Dillon & stanchris, “Wet Dream”

“Wet Dream” // Sad Magic // 2024

“Cum in my mind, like it’s a wet dream / Heaven inside, you gotta slip it right in me.” Ooh-wee, Gregory Dillon (Gregory Dillon Scherer) 😳 😈! The sex, or, the fantasy of the sex, is ripe on “Wet Dream”.  But, when it’s a fantasy, particularly from an adolescent perspective, the sexual experience is vivid.  Dillon captures that perfectly in the chorus, the crowning achievement of “Wet Dream.” Dillon penned “Wet Dream” with Madison May Zelmann.  He produced it.  Notably, he gets our favorite beloved twink, stanchris (Chris Stanley) 😍, to assist. But before the bear-loving Stanley enters the mix, Dillon takes the reins.

“Saturated eyes hoping for a dare / Like butterflies stabbing me with tongue tied knots,” Dillon sings in the first verse, concluding, “And then he’s begging me to come alone / I guess he can’t think straight while taking…” That’s where the cum comes into play 🤭 (his words, not mine). His voice is distinct – it’s the depth. As for stanchris, he drops some sexy bars on us:  “Naked while you lie / So high in the backseat / Find a place to hide / Pull off on a back street.” It’s about to go down! Chris gets another moment to shine.  By shine, he titillates: “Using my coat like a bedsheet / Will be discreet in the backseat / Fog up the glass when you touch me / Cum in my mind, it’s like a wet dream.” Indeed, indeed, INDEED! Besides the expressive, sexed-up pipes by both, the production and sound are lit.  The electro-pop, synth-heavy vibes are synthing – if that’s even a word! Gregory and stanchris make a formidable duo on “Wet Dream”, PERIOD!

6. Odetari & Nimstarr, “WET DREAMS”

“WET DREAMS” // Odetari / Artist Partner Group, Inc. // 2023 

“A man can dre-eam.” Indeed, Odetari! Odetari teams up with Nimstarr to drop a satisfying nightfall that doesn’t require cleanup! “WET DREAMS” runs a brief two minutes and ¢hange in duration.  Regardless, it’s an adventurous and engaging two minutes.  Part of the adventure is the writing by Odetari and Nimstarr, which uses ample repetition.  Also, Odetari’s production is captivating embracing electronica and hyperpop. With a bright instrumental and quick tempo, both artists are on autopilot. “I-I-I-I can’t stop, I’m infatuated with the way you look,” Odetari asserts in the first verse, adding, “I’m still on Instagram and stalkin’ you / Hypnotized, in a trance…” Woo! He also provides an infectious refrain: “N-n-n-n-not in love, baby it’s just lust, yeah.” Nimstarr contrasts in the second verse, asserting, “What you see in me? Let it burn like the degree, yeah / You got what I need, have me beggin’ on my knees.” Word. “WET DREAMS” may not last long, but boy, oh boy does it tickle the fancy! Stimulate…the ears!

7. Arin Ray, “Wet Dream”

Phases III – EP // Interscope // 2023 

“She had a wet dream / Baby (Uh) / It’s interesting / Light a cigarette (Uh).” That’s interesting indeed, Arin Ray. Please continue, Arin: “She wanna sex me / Baby (Uh) / It’s interesting / Light a cigarette.” Now the question is, are you going to satisfy her “Wet Dream”? Do you ‘wanna sex her,’ too? Arin Ray, Groove, and Francesco Busi penned the highlight from his 2023 EP, Phases III.  Groove and 8een produced giving Ray a fabulous backdrop.  He’s back by soulful, easygoing accompaniment propelled by a dusty, hip-hop beat (think hip-hop soul) and a big bass line.  Ray brings his A-game, delivering an agile flow. The lyrics roll right off his tongue.  The chorus is the sugar honey iced tea, but the verses are the shit too! “I don’t know if I’m gonna get the kitty / All by my lonesome, tank on empty,” Ray asserts in the first verse, continuing, “Tryna have a foursome with three bitches with me / That’s when my old girlfriend wanna hit me / Talking ‘bout…” What is she talking ‘bout, you ask? She wants to have sex with him again.  One of my favorite lyrics hails from the second verse: “Listen what my mom say, ‘Always wear a jimmy’ / But that’s getting tough ‘cause I like it pretty sticky.” Arin, Arin, remember not only what your Mom says, but also, what Rae Sremmurd once rapped: “Safe Sex Pay Checks”. Wrap it up, dude! Anyways, There’s no way you won’t move your body to this “Wet Dream”!

8. Sevyn Streeter & Jeremih, “Wet Dreamz”

Drunken Wordz Sober Thoughtz // TStreetz Corp / Groundwerk, LLC // 2021

“Can I / Call you / To fuck on? / From sundown / ‘Til it come up.” Oh, snap! Who doesn’t live for a sex duet?! Sevyn Streeter (Amber Streeter) and Jeremih ‘cum together’ to titillate ‘the sugar honey iced tea out of’ us on “Wet Dreamz” 🤭. “Wet Dreamz” is the eighth track on Streeter’s 2021 LP, Drunken Wordz Sober Thoughtz.  It’s preceded by the “Wet Dreamz – Interlude” (“Mmm, pick up / C’mon / Hey, baby”). Ah, the pre-gaming event! “Wet Dreamz” was penned by Streeter and Jeremih alongside Bizness Boi, Drew Love, and Ty Steez (Tyler Rohn).  Ty Steez and Bizness Boi produced “Wet Dreamz.”

“Wet Dreamz” features a relaxed tempo.  The detuned, enigmatic synths sound like SEX. Bingo! The instrumental is anchored by sickening drums. The groove is awesome.  Following the intro by Jeremih (“Oh, baby, baby, baby, baby), Streeter gets busy. She sounds smooth and seductive. She continues in the chorus (excerpted above), “At midnight / Can you be somethin’ / To fuck on?” It’s a legitimate question, right? Right! She follows up with the first verse, pre-chorus, and chorus.  In the verse, she sings, “I was thinkin’ maybe you can fall through… / So I can put this pussy on you / You know that shit good for the both of us.” Gah-day-um! In the pre-chorus, she states, “Wet my dreams tonight / All that shit you’ve been talking, give it to me / Oh (Oh), I’m tight (I’m tight).” Holy freaking moly! Jeremih performs the second verse and pre-chorus, complementing and matching Sevyn’s freak: “See if you can fit the whole thing inside” and “I’ma make some pussy whisper when you comin’, oh.” No analysis is necessary on “Wet Dreamz”. It’s giving sex, sex, and more SEX.  This one’s not for work folks 🥵!

9. 88GLAM, “Wet Dreams”

88GLAM2 // XO / Republic // 2018

“On a wave, no jet ski (Ski) / Give a bitch a wet dream / Always keep a red beam / When I’m the dark, can’t see.” Woo! Canadian hip-hop duo 88GLAM, comprising 88Camino (Shakqueel Burthwright) and Derek Wise aka Glamboy (Derek Bissue), bring the heat 🥵 on “Wet Dreams.” The two-and-a-half minute-long “Wet Dreams” is the fifth track from their 2018 album, 88GLAM2.  This nocturnal-driven number was written by 88Camino, Bissue, Sevn Thomas, and Rex Kudo. Kudo and Thomas produced, providing a sleek backdrop. The enigmatic synths and sickening beat catch the ears and fuel the fire for 88GLAM. I love the contrast between both members. 88Camino sets the tone with the chorus excerpted above. Derek Wise follows with the equally colorful and engaging post-chorus:

“Who did I become?

I’m spendin’ 80K on my wrist and that for fun

Throwin’ a party in the Hills, look who I brung

All this Molly, Carti’ frames, chewin’ gum

Catch a body with the flame from the drum.”

Wise performs also performs the first verse, asserting, “They wanted Glamboy change, but I ain’t breakin’ no bills, ooh / Me and Ocho snipin’ your bitch, we got the same view.” Damn straight! 88Camino performs the second verse, spitting, “Send me that box, no UPS delivery” (🫢) and “Need some cocaine, I got this Gandalf in my jeans.” Unapologetic! Wise later drops the third verse where he boasts, “I’m hard-head just like my dick, there ain’t no savin’ ‘em / She wanna come in but he rockstar, there ain’t no stayin’ in.” 88Camino concludes with the fourth verse (“Okay, time to play, I’m in the bathroom gettin’ geeked”) and that memorable chorus. “Wet Dreams” in the hands of 88GLAM are quite pleasing.

10. Wet Leg, “Wet Dream”

Wet Leg // Domino Recording Co Ltd // 2022

“Beam me up (Beam me up) / Count me in (Count me in) / Three, two, one (Three, two, one) Let’s begin / Here we go (Here we go)…” Oh, wow! Grammy-winning British indie-rock duo Wet Leg (Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers) sang about nocturnal emissions on “Wet Dream.” “Wet Dream” is the fifth track on their debut album, Wet Leg.  Although brief, “Wet Dream” packs a mighty punch. It was written by Chambers, Teasdale, and Joshua Mobaraki.  Dan Carey produced it. It’s groovy from the onset.  Also, it’s exuberant, high-energy, and infectious. Teasdale delivers playful vocals, particularly in the chorus. The chorus was inspired by an Instagram account called beam_me_up_softboi per Apple Music commentary from Teasdale.

“It’s got a little bit of my own personal breakup injected into it. This particular person would message me since we’d broken up being like, ‘Oh, I had a dream about you. I dreamt we were married,’ even though it was definitely over. So, I guess that’s why I decided to set it within a dream: It was kind of making fun of this particular message that would keep coming through to me.”

The fantasy grows vivid in the first verse: “I was in your wet dream, driving in my car / Saw you at the side of the road, there’s no one else around / You’re touching yourself…” Oh, snap! In the pre-chorus, they (the nameless crush) invite them home 😮. There’s more touching in the second verse as “You climb onto the bonnet and you’re licking the windscreen / I’ve never seen anything so obscene / It’s enough to make a girl blush.”  FACTS! As for the bridge, it emphasizes “It’s enough.” Agreed! The repetition is a fabulous effect throughout, part of the charm of this incredible, engaging record.

11. CHAMELEO, “wet dreams”

ALTA TENSÃO // CHAMELEO // 2023

Na ponte, CHAMELEO canta: “Ei gatinho, sonhei com você essa noite / Eu não lembra exatamente o que era / Mas eu lembro que era molhado”.  In English, the statement in Portuguese reads as follows: In the bridge, CHAMELEO sings, “Hey baby, I dreamt about you last night / I don’t remember exactly what it was / But I remember it was wet.” Wet as in a wet dream, CHAMELEO? CHAMELEO, for context, is an indie-pop musician from Brazil. The lyrics hail from his song, “wet dreams”, the ninth track from his 2023 album, ALTA TENSÃO. “Wet dreams” was composed by CHAMELEO, Bibi, and Jenni Mosello. Lucas Vaz and Zur Parsiaty produced it.  The backdrop is colorful and ear-catching. CHAMELEO’s vocals are ear-catching too.  He sings expressively as he depicts sweet fantasies.

“Você entra na minha cama toda noite, nos meus sonhos,” CHAMELEO sings in the first verse, adding, Quanto mais ‘cê me ignora, mais eu fico fantasiando.” In English, the lyrics translate as, “You come into my bed every night, into my dreams” and, “The more you ignore me, the more I fantasize.” Ooh-la-la. That is the spirit of a wet dream, isn’t it? Other highlights include (translated in English), “My desire, my need / Wet dreaming in an empty bed” (verse two) and, “You come home, and we kiss / You put me on the table so you can control me / I start at the neck, go down, and stay there for half an hour” (pre-chorus). Oh, snap! In the chorus, the tongue is key: “Ah-ah, ah-ah / I lick everything / La-ah, la-ah / I lick you.” All told, CHAMELEO sufficiently stimulates in “wet dreams”. The music is sweet, and the theme – sexy AF!

12. J. Cole, “Wet Dreamz”

2014 Forest Hills Drive // Roc Nation // 2014

“Man, it wasn’t nothin’ like the first time / She was in my math class / Long hair, brown skin, with a fat ass.” On “Wet Dreamz”, a highlight from 2014 Forest Hills Drive, J. Cole bluntly depicts his sexual awakening. As the title suggests, his awakening includes those pubescent occurrences known as wet dreams (nocturnal emissions, if you want to be technical). Beyond those dreams, Cole raps about losing his virginity, and he does not spare details: “I’m thinkin’ how she rides on it / If she sits on it if she licks on it / Make it hard for me to stand up.” Like teen boys worldwide, Cole is horny AF. Honestly, there are few men, once they begin their sexual maturation, who at some point, do not think with their other head.  Anyways, while he pretends he is experienced to impress his crush, ultimately, he is a clueless virgin.    

“Wet dreamin’, thinkin’ that I’m smashin’, but I’m sleepin’  

I want it bad, and I ain’t never been obsessed before  

She wrote a note that said, ‘you ever had sex before?’  

Damn…  

And I ain’t never did this before, no…”   

How does an inexperienced J. Cole educate himself on sex? Pornography, fueled by sexual fantasies. There are better avenues, obviously, but you would be hard-pressed to find a teen boy who did not indulge in smut at some point – facts!  Songs about wet dreams are always intriguing. J. Cole delivers one of the best, perfectly capturing an adolescent, pubescent sexual experience.  Rap tackles sex frequently, but Cole takes a much different avenue which makes “Wet Dreamz” a truly surprising banger.

13. O-Town, “Liquid Dreams”

O-Town // J // 2001   

One of the requirements of any boy band is to sing songs about girls.  Another requirement? Be hot! O-Town had both things covered during their brief run 😍.  They earned a platinum album with O-Town (2001), and a gold single, “Liquid Dreams”. Hmm, what makes a dream liquid exactly? Think back to those adolescent days, and a certain release that takes place at night, and there’s your answer, confirmed via an interview with Cosmopolitan (“… It’s [‘Liquid Dreams’] about nocturnal emissions, to be honest… [Clive Davis] thought this was a way for us to make our mark separate: we were a lot more dirty, a lot more edgy than the others [boy bands]”). Ooh wee, childdd!!!     

“Posters of love surrounding me, lost in a world of fantasy   

Every night she comes to me and gives me all the love I need.”       

Wow! There’s a significance with the word ‘comes.’ O-Town was fantasizing about women they wanted to be with (*cough have sex with).  The innuendo doesn’t stop there as “this hot girl” is “So fine designed to blow your mind / She’s a dominatrix supermodel beauty queen.” Day-um! Of course, as “Liquid Dreams” progresses, they name drop the hottest women whom their sexy girl is patterned after.  In 2001 that included the likes of Destiny’s Child, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, and Salma Hayek – you get the gist of it! Horny guys who have gotten so worked up they are experiencing these “liquid dreams.” While the music video does NOT depict a nocturnal emission, it is captivating, nonetheless.  The big takeaway regarding “Liquid Dreams” is this is a prime example of utterly infectious, sex-driven pop music.  I mean, has a nocturnal emission ever sounded so rad?

14. Austin Burke, “Wet Dream”

“Wet Dream” // Bolo // 2021

“Sometimes it just happens, and sometimes it don’t / I never see it coming, it’s out of my control.” The keyword is coming, and perhaps, the spelling should be changed 🤭. Country musician Austin Burke had a wet moment with his satirical song, “Wet Dream”. Although quite sticky and messy, Burke’s potent load yielded millions of streams 😉. “Wet Dream,” which was written by Burke, Joe Fox, and Zack Dyer (only dudes could write this), features clever, humorous, and memorable lyrics.  While “Wet Dreams” isn’t explicit per se, you still don’t want to play this suggestive song anywhere.  There should be no shame in wet dreams but, it’s still a personal, private matter.

Anatomically, Burke is correct when he asserts in the first verse, “It’s out of my control.” There are ways to reduce nightfall per Man Matters (IYKYK). In the second verse, Austin keeps it sexy. Fishing references are thrown in, too: “The sun was settin’, I was moonlight fishin’ / My two-stroke was burning nocturnal emissions / I motor-boated through the big ol’ buoys on the bay.” Damn… what can you say to that? The chorus is truly something else:

“‘Cause I had a wet dream, just me and my dingy

As silly as “Wet Dream” is, Austin Burke shines. He ‘does the damn thing’ as they say. His voice is distinct, and he sells the satire authentically.  The backdrop is ‘country’ to the nth degree.  The only rub? Most country songs aren’t about that type of seamen or shooting. “And if she asks I’ma tell my girlfriend she was in it…”

15. Max Romeo, “Wet Dream”

A Dream // Pama // 1969

“Every night me go to sleep, me have wet dreams.” Oh, wow, Max Romeo! At least the veteran reggae musician is honest and transparent on “Wet Dream”. Maybe he’s too honest… more on that in a moment. “Wet Dream” is the opening track from his 1969 debut album, A Dream. “Wet Dream” was released in 1968, and the lyrics are… sus… CONTROVERSIAL. Among the controversial lyrics is “Lay down gal, let me push it up, push it up, lay down,” from the chorus. Hmm… I have questions, Max Romeo. The biggest is CONSENT.  In the first verse, there’s nothing to suggest he’s asked her about having sex because he’s experiencing wet dreams.  In the second verse, Max and this nameless woman are in separate corners, and he encourages her to “Throw all the punch you to, I can take them all.” Hmm… According to Sade Gardner in an article from Jamaica Star, Romeo asserts that the song “was never about promoting sexual messages.” He adds, “[‘Wet Dream’] wasn’t meant to be what it is now. It wasn’t that explicit, sexual brainwash that drives people to rape and murder. That wasn’t the thought when I did this song.”

The music is bright, set in a major key.  The vibes are sunny despite the messaging, regardless of Romeo’s intent. The third verse doesn’t make “Wet Dream” any less controversial.  “Low how you’re big and fat like a big, big shot,” he sings. Excuse me, Max? Fat shaming? Or, is he pinpointing her ASSets? In the next line, he sings, “Give the crumpet to the big foot, Joe, give your fanny to me.” Fanny is slang for (1) vulva and (2) butt.  Either way, “Wet Dream” is highly sexual.  Max Romeo dropped a song that was explicit in the 1960s.  While it’s not nearly as blunt or explicit as the sexed-up songs of the 21^st century, it still raises eyebrows. Also, it was banned in the UK, though it peaked at no. 10, nonetheless.
