15 Songs That Focus on Private Matters [Photo Credits: 88rising, Atlantic, Bad Boy, Cash Money, cupcakKe, Def Jam, EMPIRE, Fueled by Ramen, GOOD, Interscope, Pixabay, Republic, RCA, Warner Bros., Zelig Music]🎧 15 Songs That Focus on Private Matters features music courtesy of Britney Spears, Carly Rae Jepsen, Janelle Monáe, Meek Mill, and Prince.

Some things should be kept private – sound advice. This playlist is all about private matters, and more often than not, such private matters either reference or literally focus on private parts. Yep, you didn’t read wrong – this playlist features songs that encompass songs that go down south.  It’s always amazing how often musicians can find various ways to incorporate sex into their music, and private parts is among the bag of tricks, whether implicit or explicit.  Even though some of these songs are as shallow as albeit, others have a message that transcends the superficial, at least to an extent.  Musicians contributing to these private matters include Britney Spears (“Private Show”), Carly Rae Jepsen (“Party for One”), Janelle Monáe (“Pynk”), Meek Mill (“Almost Slipped”), and Prince (“Head”).

1. Janelle Monáe, “Pynk”

Ft. Grimes

Dirty Computer • Bad Boy • 2018

Janelle Monáe, Dirty Computer © Bad Boy“Pynk, like the inside of your… baby / Pynk behind all of the doors… crazy / Pynk, like the tongue that goes down… maybe / Pynk, like the paradise found.” Dirty Computer, the third album by eclectic R&B artist Janelle Monáe, is by far her boldest and most personal, with highlight “Pynk” leading the charge. On the verses, Monáe likens ‘pynk’ to female private parts (vagina), women in general, and feminism. The theme of the record – feminism and same-sex female attraction/love – earns more attention than the production and sound of the record, which is excellent in its own right.

“Yeah, somethin’ like that
Owwww! Somethin’ like that
Yeah, somethin’ like that
‘Cause boy, it’s cool if you got blue
We got the pynk.”

Dirty Computer serves as Monáe’s coming out party – she officially came out as pansexual during the album rollout. “Pynk” was selected as the third best song on the 100 Best Songs of 2018.  It also appears on a pair of LGBTQ-themed lists: 15 Notable LGBTQ Songs From 2018 and 53 LGBTQ Songs That Beam With Pride.

2. Meek Mill, “Almost Slipped”

Championships • Atlantic • 2018

Meek Mill, Championships [Photo Credit: Atlantic]“I almost feel in love with a thottie / My dawg said, ‘You got too many bodies’ / Girl, that pussy had me like a zombie…” Meek Mill has his fair share of moments throughout his fourth studio album, Championships.  While the LP isn’t the reinvention of rap, let alone the ‘second coming,’ the Philly rapper shines on the likes of “Trauma,” “Championships” and “Oodles O’ Noodles Babies”.  He actually ‘goes low’ on the sexed-up “Almost Slipped,” which has the arduous task of following up the Meek Mill/Drake reunion, “Going Bad.” As the aforementioned lyrical excerpt suggests, he ‘almost slipped’ regarding letting sex get him caught up, or confusing hooking up with a true, meaningful relationship.  Even if he’s not committing to the describe “thottie,” he also doesn’t pass up some fun either, at least judging by the way he describes matters of sex…

3. King Princess, “Pussy Is God”

Pussy is God – Single • Zelig Music • 2018

King Princess, Pussy is God [Photo Credits: Zelig / Columbia]“You know that it’s God, baby, when you’re around her / I’ve been praying for hours / You know that it’s God, baby, when you’re around her / She’s God and I’ve found her.” In 2018, 20-year old genderqueer and gay artist King Princess joined the rank of musicians speaking on behalf of the LGBTQ community. She does so in risqué fashion on the distinctly-titled “Pussy is God”. The sound can be characterized as a soulful alternative-pop sound, anchored by a rhythmic beat. On this queer celebratory record, King Princess takes things a step further incorporating spiritual references blasphemously, and of course, private parts and sexual matters.

The first verse is a perfect example, where she sings:

“Your pussy is God and I love it
Gonna kiss me real hard, make me want it...
But I know you feel right so I’m coming.”

The memorable, innuendo-laden, risqué lyrics don’t stop there. On the second verse, she sings:

“...I’ve never been good at this nice shit
But I can try if you like it
It gets hard when you give a fuck
Get knocked down from some other love.”

The message regarding sexuality is loud and clear, not to mention an opportunity to make ‘private parts’ not so private – or at least sing about them openly.

4. Rich Brian, “Kitty”

Amen • 88rising / EMPIRE • 2018

Rich Brian, Amen © 88rising/EMPIRE“Let me tell a story ‘bout a boy named Brian / This is no fairy tale, no, that’s not what I’m implyin’ / This is really not the type rhyme, writing ‘bout flexin’ / Got some bitches on the phone but I’m really not replyin’ type shit.” Rich Brian made previous appearances on playlists (11 Songs Where Musicians Were Sexually Awakened and 11 Songs to Channel Your Inner Animal) with his ‘private-driven’ record, “Kitty.”

“Ain’t no game that I play when it comes to / Gettin’ that kitty out the cage for my night.” “Kitty” is the dirtiest and perhaps most outrageous song on the teen Indonesian rapper’s full-length debut album, Amen, capturing his ‘sexual awakening.’  Even as he’s ‘getting it in,’ there’s a humorous, twist.  After getting drunk, meeting “the girl of [his] dreams,” the virgin Brian has sex with her, gets caught by her mom, has his friend Mike pick him up, and finds out his ‘first’ was Mike’s sister.

5. Christina Aguilera, “Pipe”

Ft. XNDA

Liberation • RCA • 2018

Christina Aguilera, Liberation [PHOTO CREDIT: RCA]“Bet I’ll make you splash like Geronimo / If you don’t like it fast, I could take it slow.”  Yes, she’s totally saying what you think she’s saying… It’s truly a shame that Christina Aguilera had a tepid run with her comeback album, Liberation.  Overall, it’s an enjoyable, well-rounded pop album that dips into R&B and hip-hop.  One of its most ‘excited’ moments is “Pipe,” featuring XNDA. The aforementioned lyrical excerpt definitely refers to ‘pipe’ (catch my drift yet?).

In case you haven’t been awakened by the slang, “Pipe” isn’t about weed, at least in this context. No, pipe is slang for sex. The innuendo is ripe (and goes hard): “I get loud when you put that pipe down, pipe down, pipe down.” While the song thrives on sex and lacks substance beyond the “splash” Aguilera mentioned earlier, the production is great, particularly the electric piano and drum programming. You can also find “Pipe” on the previously released playlist, 11 Songs Where It Gets Steamy II.

6. Carly Rae Jepsen, “Party for One”

Party for One [Single] • School Boy / Interscope • 2018

Carly Rae Jepsen, Party for One [Photo Credits: Schoolboy / Interscope]“You don’t want my love / If you don’t care about me / I’ll just dance for myself / Back on my beat / Party for one / If you don’t care about me / Making love to myself / Back on my beat…” Carly Rae Jepsen proved she’s not a ‘one-hit wonder’ on her 2018 single, “Party for One”. “Party for One” is a hella catchy anthem of self-love (see where the ‘private’ comes into play?). Jepsen keeps things ‘short and sweet,’ featuring bright, shimmering, driving production.  Naturally, this bubbly sounding pop suits her, recalling the brilliant sounds of her debut album, Kiss.

Even though the ‘party’ is modern, it also incorporates 80s vibes. The best moment of the record is the aforementioned catchy, powerful, and enthusiastic chorus, where the production becomes more robust, as do Jepsen’s vocals. Her vocal performance is enjoyable, and she exhibits great personality on this record. “Party for One” cracked the 100 Best Songs of 2018 earning a spot at no. 98.

7. Vince Staples, “Get the Fuck Off My Dick”

Get the Fuck Off My Dick – Single • Def Jam • 2018

Vince Staples, Get the Fuck Off My Dick © Def Jam“Get the fuck off now, get the fuck off my dick / Hard to tell which one more perfect, man, my art or my bitch / Hard to tell which one more perfect, man, my car or my crib / Avant-garde with this shit, get your jaws off my dick.” Despite the fact that “Get the Fuck Off My Dick” has an unapologetic title that seems tailor-made for a barrage of sexual wordplay, or the condom cover art, the 2018 Vince Staples single isn’t really about any private parts whatsoever.  He speaks about criticism, snubs, and essentially, a lack of respect for his art. It’s a bold, but legit message.

Essentially, he uses the profane statement metaphorically as opposed to literally. Staples has ‘got bars’ throughout the course of “Get the Fuck Off My Dick,” as exemplified below:

“Hold up, switch the flow up, I won’t roll for nothing
Rappers ho up, then they blow up, guess who do the fuckin’?
VMA and Grammy snubbin’, not walkin’ through no clubs
Homie you can keep your money, it don’t do nothing for me.”

8. Cupcakke, “Post Pic”

Ephorize • cupcakKe • 2018

cupcakKe, Ephorize © cupcakKe“Hump me, fuck me / Daddy better make me choke / Hump me, fuck me / My tunnel loves to deep throat.” WTF! Yeah, that exemplifies the unapologetic, raunchy, risqué rapper cupcakKe. The particular song those lyrics are excerpted from is “Deepthroat”, among her most well-known and controversial songs (and music videos).  Throughout the course of her 2018 album, Ephorize, cupcakKe continues to ‘push the envelope’ with a variety of sexual matters.  Sure, the album has moments with substance, but there are plenty that total eschew it, such as the non-serious “Post Pic.”

“Post Pic” finds cupcakKe in full-on objectification mode. Concerned with capturing the perfect selfie (go on and roll your eyes right now), she asserts that the dudes who see her pics will pleasure themselves… Ugh! Clearly, she’s obsessed what guys are doing with their penis, particularly regarding her. Fittingly, “Post Pic” also appears on the sexually-tinged playlist, 21 Songs That Dabble in Lust & Carnal Matters.

9. Big Sean & Metro Boomin, “So Good”

Ft. Kash Doll

Double or Nothing • GOOD / Def Jam / Republic • 2017

Big Sean & Metro Boomin, Double or Nothing © Def Jam / Republic“Head so good, pussy so good / If I could quit my job and fuck you all day, shit, I would.”  That pretty much sums up the filthiest, raunchiest song from the 2017 Big Sean/Metro Boomin collaboration, Double or Nothing.  Big Sean is no stranger to incorporating sex into his music, but “So Good” just might ‘take the cake.’ He goes into graphic detail, taunting his size on the first verse (“Got a long dick, that shit barely fit”).  If that’s not enough, on the same verse, he manages to be blasphemous regarding his performance (“Got so deep in that bitch, it felt spiritual / Flood in that pussy, it’s a miracle”).

Featured guest Kash Doll doesn’t let Big Sean have all the fun, as she focuses on how awesome the sex as well.  If Sean seemed like the boss, self-proclaimed “nasty bitch” Kash Doll makes it clear that she holds the reins: “Last time I let you fuck, it was amazing, shit / Love a nigga who ain’t scared to put his face in it.” Obviously, she’s referring to her own private parts.  And just in case it was perfectly clear, she goes on to say, “And I still remember every single place you licked / So I sucked the soul outcha just to thank that dick.” This one’s definitely NOT safe for work.

10. 3OH!3, “My Dick”

NIGHT SPORTS • Fueled by Ramen • 2016

3OH!3, Night Sports © Fueled By Ramen“Every time I look at my dick, I’m like ‘Holy shit, that’s a big dick’.”  If at all possible, possible the frat bros of 3OH!3 Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte – have only grown dumber with age.  Case in point, “My Dick,” which appears on the duo’s ‘ultra-mature,’ 2016 album, NIGHT SPORTS.  It should also be noted that in the context of NIGHT SPORTS, the sexually-charged, un-poetic “Inside Boy” follows this anthem about, well, the penis. Honestly, there are just so many questions regarding this utter display of stupidity and TMI.  First of all, who in the hell thought it would be ‘stimulating’ to name a song after their junk? Secondly, does this subject matter really leave the ‘fly,’ rather, the door open for depth? The dudes even compare their size to Disney characters, which is pretty low.

“I hang low like the trunk of Dumbo
While your dick gets small like Frodo.”

11. Britney Spears, “Private Show”

Glory • RCA • 2016

Britney Spears, Glory © RCA“Private Show” is an aggressive, sexy standout from Glory, the 2016, under-appreciated ninthe studio album by Britney Spears. After Britney Jean (2013) was a letdown overall for Spears, Glory definitely sounded like a return to form for Spears. Focusing specifically on the sensually-charged “Private Show,” the production work is slick, blending pop, hip-hop, and urban cues. Spears’ assertiveness is jaw dropping.

The chorus is utterly infectious – naughty yet irresistible as she suggestively sings about her intentions.

“Put on a private show
Pull the curtains until they close
I put on a private show
We’ll be whiling all on the low
Work it, work it, boy watch me work it
Slide down my pole, watch me spin it and twerk it
Work it, work it, boy watch me work it...”

12. Usher, “Good Kisser”

Good Kisser – Single • RCA • 2014

Usher, "Good Kisser" [📷 : RCA]“Don’t nobody kiss it like you.” On “Good Kisser,” Usher certainly doesn’t keep it PG – at best, he’s restricted.  The kisses he’s singing about don’t involve a peck on the cheek or even full-on lip action.  No, the kisses he sings about on “Good Kisser” are definitely those deep south kisses, involving his private parts – ‘little Usher’ if you will.

He gets raunchy, but certainly men can relate to the central theme…

“See, I told her, the devil is a lie
Them other girls can’t compete with mine
You do it so good, you fuck my mind
You pull it out, then you open wide
You make me wanna tap out and retire
Your pretty lips leave me so inspired.”

This satisfying yet filthy record also appears as the eighth song on 11 Songs Where It Gets Steamy, as well as the 13th song on 17 Songs Where the Kisses are Everything.

13. Nicki Minaj, “Anaconda”

The Pinkprint • Cash Money • 2014

Nicki Minaj, The Pinkprint © Cash Money“Oh my gosh, look at her butt!” Arguably, there’s really not that much privacy when it comes to the bars that Nicki Minaj spits.  Sex, and ample doses of it, are a big part of her persona. Several Nicki Minaj songs could appear on this private list, but none is more fitting than “Anaconda,” the crème de la crème of her 2014 album, The Pinkprint.

“My anaconda don’t, my anaconda don’t
My anaconda don’t want none unless you got buns, hun!”

“Anaconda,” which samples the Sir-Mix-a-Lot classic “Baby Got Back”, explores animalistic tendencies in regard to sex. “Anaconda” is chocked-full of sex (understatement) and is one of the horniest records you’ll ever hear. Minaj not only discusses her ‘assets’ and her private parts (), but she also discusses his ‘size’ and how the sex goes down:

“This dude named Michael used to ride motorcycles
Dick bigger than a tower, I ain’t talking about Eiffel’s
Real country-ass nigga, let me play with his rifle
Pussy put his ass to sleep, now he calling me Nyquil...
He can tell I ain’t missing no meals
Come through and fuck him in my automobile
Let him eat it with his grills and he tellin’ me to chill...”

“Anaconda” has graced a couple of playlists, including two ‘animalistic’ playlists, 11 Songs to Channel Your Inner Animal and 11 Totally Animalistic Songs.

14. R. Kelly, “Cookie”

Black Panties • RCA • 2013

R. Kelly, Black Panties [Photo Credit: RCA]“You wonder how I’m the best and can do all this with my mouth? /…My bed can be your stage / And I’mma make you a star / Your legs in the air and my hands all up in your cookie jar.” Perhaps it’s moments like “Cookie” where R. Kelly needs to be muted, regardless of the damning allegations against him. After hearing “Cookie,” mark my words – you’ll never think of Oreos the same. No, they will never ever be the innocent, decadent cookies because the self-proclaimed ‘sex genius’ ruined it for everybody. They’ve become a sexual, representation of the lustfulness of R. Kelly. He even goes so far that he screws up an innocent childhood character – Cookie Monster from Sesame Street: “Cookie, cookie, cookie, I’m a cookie monster.”

Take your pick of naughtiness, but it all seems to come back to those private parts, also known as genitals.

“Mmm, like an Oreo
I love to lick the middle like an Oreo
Oreo, Oreo, like an Oreo
I wanna bite it and get inside it (‘til I get you gone).”

“Cookie” appears on the 2013 album Black Panties, which features multiple instance of Kelly’s overindulgence into sex. The opening song, “Legs Shakin’” (featuring Ludacris), references cunnilingus…. ‘course, so does “Cookie,” sigh.  You can also find “Cookie” on playlists 11 Songs Where It Gets Steamy II and 12 Songs Where R. Kelly Took Innuendo Too Far.

15. Prince, “Head”

Dirty Mind • Warner Bros. • 1980

Prince, Dirty Mind [Photo Credits: Warner Bros.]“I’ll give you head till you’re burning up / Head till you get enough / Head till your love is red / Head love you till you’re dead.” Oh boy… In the 00s, the late, great Prince was much tamer musically, particularly regarding sex, compared to his 80s (into the 90s) heyday.  While references to fellatio are much more rampant in contemporary music, particularly hip-hop and R&B, back in 1980, it was really pushing it.  Imagine how Dante Alighieri would’ve viewed this groovy, lustful Prince jam.  In Dante’s eyes, would damnation to the second circle of hell be sufficient?

“You said ‘but I’m just a virgin and I’m
On my way to be wed
But you’re such a hunk
So full of spunk.’”

“Head” also appears on 13 Songs That Involve the Head in Some Capacity.
