So, without further ado, we unleash 🎧 15 Compelling Songs About WE!
1. Luke Combs, “The Kind of Love We Make”
💿 Growin’ Up • 🏷 River House Artists LLC / Sony Music Entertainment • 🗓 2022
Luke Combs doesn’t get nasty on “The Kind of Love We Make” but him and his wifey do get down. In the chorus, the tone is set with “candles burning / And some records turning / All the lights down low…” Of course, beyond setting the mood, Combs touches on the pleasure when he sings, “The way your body’s moving / Keep doing what you’re doing to me all night long /… Girl, I want it, gotta have it / Let the passion take us to a higher place / Makin’ the kind of love we make.” Ooh wee, child! Honestly, it is a self-explanatory song. Furthermore, with sex being universal, it does not require translation. What more is there to say about 🎵 “The Kind of Love We Make”? Luke Combs and his wife are having bomb-ass sex – period. Combs does not get raunchy about it, but, he does not have to. Combs doesn’t seem to have a problem with love making 😈.

3. Nicki Minaj, “Do We Have a Problem?” (Ft. Lil Baby)
💿 Queen Radio: Volume 1 • 🏷 Republic • 📅 2022
“Tell ‘em my niña, my bitch, she a rider
I got a shooter, and I got a driver
They want that heat, I’m the only provider
Little bad foreign bitch, word to Fivio
Niggas know the vibe, that’s word to Five, yo
Beef, we ‘bout to resolve, yo
Pull up on a opp, do we have a problem?”
After showing off the gift of melody on the chorus, Minaj serves up un-pitched, tough, ‘gives no fucks’ rhymes in the first verse. She shouts out Pop Smoke and Juice WRLD, brags about drip, and is willing to do whatever “to get an opp back.” Lil Baby arrives in the second verse, providing a contrast. His verse settles in a bit more. Like Minaj, Baby is nothing short of confident and dripped out. Minaj later drops the third verse, boasting more of the same. A banger, Minaj and Lil Baby bring toughness, packing some punch.
4. Miley Cyrus, “We Can’t Stop”
💿 BANGERZ • 🏷 RCA • 🗓 2013
The pre-chorus embraces one of hip-hop’s most unfortunate happenings – MOLLY RAP!
It finally died out, but during this time, molly was everywhere, and so, Miley copped molly:
“So, la-da-di-da-di, we like to party
Dancing with Molly…”
‘Course, in the chorus, “we can’t stop” is the mantra. In the second verse, it’s more of the same. Miley references twerking, cocaine (!), and “getting turned up.” Woo! Truly, Cyrus doesn’t lie when she asserts in the post-chorus, “It’s my mouth, I can say what I want to.” Interestingly, Cyrus would eventually separate herself from hip-hop. Go figure!

5. Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero & Stephanie Beatriz, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”
💿 Encanto • 🏷 Walt Disney • 📅 2021
There are six performers credited to “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”: 🎙 Carolina Gaitán, 🎙 Mauro Castillo, 🎙 Adassa, 🎙 Rhenzy Feliz, 🎙 Diane Guerrero, and 🎙 Stephanie Beatriz. All contributors play an important role in making this Academy Award snubbed song the masterpiece that it is. Also, give ample credit to the composer extraordinaire, 🎼✍ Lin-Manuel Miranda – such a gifted soul! So, the question is, why don’t we talk about Bruno exactly? Well, Bruno Madrigal is estranged from the Madrigal family because of his fortune-telling abilities, which often end up badly for the family. Famously, Pepa – assisted by Félix – is angry because:
“It was my wedding day (It was our wedding day)
We were getting ready
And there wasn’t a cloud in the sky (No clouds allowed in the sky)
Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin (Thunder)
You telling this story, or am I? (I’m sorry, mi vida, go on)
Bruno says, ‘It looks like rain’ (Why did he tell us?)
In doing so, he floods my brain (Abuela, get the umbrellas)
Married in a hurricane (What a joyous day, but anyway).”
My, my, my! Besides clever songwriting making “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” so entertaining, the music is awesome too. The spirit of Colombia is written all over this one, and I’m so happy that the United States received a slice of it!
6. John Batiste, “We Are”
💿 We Are • 🏷 Verve • 📅 2021
“We are, we are, we are the golden ones / We are, we are, we are, we are the chose ones.” Jon Batiste commences We Are grandly with “We Are.” Here, the incredibly gifted musician enlists numerous collaborators including 🎙 Gospel Soul Children’s Choir and the 🎙 St. Augustine High School Marching 100. The results are exceptional, with expressive, nuanced lead vocals by Batiste, a soulful arrangement and production, and thoughtful songwriting (“Joy / He won’t let it go / Oh no / Joy /That he doesn’t know /What he doesn’t know”). All the music touches are elite.
7. Lil Baby & 42 Dugg, “We Paid”
💿 My Turn (Deluxe) • 🏷 Quality Control• 📅 2020
Of course, My Turn arrives courtesy of 🏆 Grammy-nominated rapper 🎙 Lil Baby, who also holds his own on this totally 🎵 “unfuckwittable” joint. He rides the 🎛 Section 8-produced beat like a champ. He asserts at one point, “I put on drip, I believe I can fly / Niggas know that I’m rich, but they know not to try.” After an extraordinary year in 2020, I have no doubt that Lil Baby truly got P-A-I-D like 🎵 “Big Bank”!

8. Dua Lipa, “We’re Good”
💿 Future Nostalgia (The Moonlight Edition) • 🏷 Warner • 📅 2021
Sleekly produced by 🎛 Sly, Dua Lipa has a superb backdrop to paint those expressive pipes over. Her tone and respective vocal nuances continue to impress, particularly in the chorus.
“We’re not meant to be like sleeping and cocaine
So, let’s at least agree to go our separate ways
Not gonna judge you when you’re with somebody else
As long as you swear you won’t be pissed when I do it myself
Let’s end it like we should and say we’re good.”
She’s at her best towards the end of this brief but potent number when she ‘lets loose,’ all without ever losing composure or dare over singing.

9. Leith Ross, “We’ll Never Have Sex”
🎵 “We’ll Never Have Sex” • 🏷 Republic • 📅 2022
Leith Ross has found healing on this short but potent ballad. Their new lover is authentic, something that’s been missing in the past. “Depollute me, pretty baby / Suck the rot right out of my bloodstream,” Ross sings in the first verse. In the second, Ross addresses the lack of sex, highlighting how authentic and real this person is: “If I said you could never touch me / You’d come over and say I looked lovely.” That’s awesome! In the final verse, Ross invites them to “Come and kiss me, pretty baby / Like we’ll never have sex.” The song is incredibly sweet; thoughtful to the nth degree.

10. Tyler, The Creator, “Are we Still Friends?”
💿 IGOR • 🏷 Columbia • 📅 2019
Question(s): “Are we still friends? Can we be friends?” “Are We Still Friends?” concludes IGOR soulfully and radiantly. “Are We Still Friends?” samples the Memphis soul of Al Green (🎵 “Dream”). In the context of IGOR, “Friends” feels like a natural follow-up to 🎵 “I Don’t Love You Anymore” because it serves as a resolution. Basically, what Tyler wants to know is post-relationship, can he and his ex- remain friends (“If we can still see each other / Shake your hand, say hi…”). Interestingly, 🎙 Pharrell Williams appears as does 🎙 Jack White, who delivers an uncredited guitar solo.

11. H.E.R, “We Made It”
💿 Back of My Mind • 🏷 RCA • 📅 2021
Beyond the picturesque backdrop and sweet vocals, there’s also strong songwriting. Wilson mixes contemporary, love-motivated, reflective, and gratitude within the same song. There are several key moments, including a favorite:
“They said I won’t come up with the family and cop a couple of Grammys
All the things they said I can’t be, revenge taste just like candy.”
To reiterate, “We Made It” is an awesome way to start off Back of My Mind. Furthermore, it’s awesome standalone record.

12. Mariah Carey, “We Belong Together”
💿 The Emancipation of Mimi • 🏷 Island Def Jam • 📅 2005
“When you left, I lost a part of me / It’s still so hard to believe / Come back, baby, please / ‘Cause we belong together.” “We Belong Together” is simply an enjoyable, well-rounded R&B break-up song. Mariah Carey misses her man and begs him to come back because, in her eyes, they “belong together.” It’s well-produced (Carey, 🎛 Jermaine Dupri, and 🎛 Manuel Seal) without being incredibly flashy. The production does get a lift from two samples – 🎵 “If You Think You’re Lonely Now” (🎙 Bobby Womack) and 🎵 “Two Occasions” (🎙 The Deele featuring 🎙 Babyface). Its simplicity and straightforwardness serve it well. The biggest selling point? The voice – “marvelous darling!”

💿 The Album • 🏷 Def Jam • 🗓 2020
14-15. Queen, “We Will Rock You” / “We Are the Champions”
💿 News of the World • 🏷 Hollywood • 🗓 1977
The second WE song from Queen from 💿 News of the World is the #winning, 🎵 “We Are the Champions”! “I’ve paid my dues / Time after time / I’ve done my sentence / But committed no crime,” Mercury sings, continuing, “And bad mistakes / I’ve made a few / I’ve had my share of sand kicked in my face / But I’ve come through / (And I need to go on and on, and on, and on).” Like “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions” ranks among the all-time great songs by the iconic rock band as well as the greatest songs of all time.
“We are the champions, my friends
And we’ll keep on fighting, ‘til the end
We are the champions; we are the champions!”
Truly, there is “No time for losers,” because EVERYBODY embraces that championship-winning spirit listening to Mercury’s epic vocals on the certified masterpiece.
