Love is a topic that never grows old.  Why? After unleashing Lovesick I…5ive Songs, we jump right into 10 UTTERLY LOVESICK 😍 💘 SONGS.

The five songs that appeared on 5ive Songs naturally reappear on 10 UTTERLY LOVESICK 😍 💘 SONGS.  We add five more the mix for one big, utterly lovesick affair – being redundant, I know! 10 UTTERLY LOVESICK 😍 💘 SONGS features music courtesy of Banks, Maude Latour, Mura Masa, Trevor Daniel, and Trippie Redd among others. Without further ado, brace for the lovesickness!

1. Trevor Daniel, “Lovesick”

Nicotine • Alamo / Interscope • 2020

Trevor Daniel, Nicotine [Photo Credit: Alamo / Interscope]After “Nicotine” sets the tone of Nicotine (imagine that), “Lovesick” keeps Nicotine going strong.  Pop artist Trevor Daniel impresses with the cool nature of his vocals, singing the agile lyrics without breaking a sweat.  Nothing wrong with being “cool as a cucumber” as they say! Trevor seems like a pretty cool guy – at least following his socials!

Anyways, even with his breezy, easygoing approach, Trevor’s tone is quite colorful. He’s highly effective conveying the plight of love.  “I’m lovesick, got an illness,” he sings on the chorus, continuing, “If we don’t make it work, positive it’s gonna kill me.” Don’t die Trevor – don’t die!

2. Banks, “Lovesick”

The Altar • Harvest • 2016

Banks, The Altar © Harvest“Ooh-ah, ‘cause I’m lovesick / I ain’t even ashamed, ah-ah / And I’m hard up for some time in your sheets…” Banks wants it, and she wants it bad – period. “Lovesick” is a classic case of lusting after someone you want incredibly badly.  Admit it – you’ve been in the same position!

Clearly, Banks wants to have some sexy time in the bedroom on this gem from The Altar.

“Ooh, I knew your love before I kissed you
And now you have only made me miss you
Come get me, come love me, baby, come love me.”

Worth noting, “Lovesick” is just one of many ‘lustful experiences’ on The Altar.  It follows the explicit lead single, “Fuck with Myself”. We’ll leave that at that!

3. MAX WELLS & Foreign Forest, “LOVESiCK”

Illusional (EP) • CANTRELATE • 2018

Max Wells & Foreign Forest, Illusional (EP) [Photo Credit: CANTRELATE]“I don’t wanna fight no more / Stress no more / Really don’t care ‘bout us no more.” Clearly, for MAX WELLS, there’s lovesickness in the air.  On this lushly produced (M.L.J. Tha Beatmaker), moody, emo hip-hop cut, the melodic WELLS is clearly in his feelings.

He wants and tries everything he can to find and secure love but it’s definitely not easy on him. Foreign Forest has his own share of love problems on the third verse.  It’s a different lovesickness, involving a girl who isn’t his shawty:

“Text me say she coming over when my shawty gone
Ooh, am I wrong?
Am I wrong?”

4. Trippie Redd, “Love Sick”

A Love Letter to You 4 • 1400 Entertainment / TenThousand Projects LLC • 2019

Trippie Redd, A Love Letter to You 4 [Photo Credit: TenThousand Projects]Love sickness continues courtesy of a melodic Trippie Redd on – wait for it – “Love Sick.” “Love Sick” appears on Redd’s 2019 album, A Love Letter to You 4.  As the title suggests, matters of the heart are fully engaged.  Of course, the intro kind of sets the tone: “Shawty, don’t go runnin’ out on me”

There’s only one verse on “Love Sick” – something considering there are two ‘B’ sections.  On the verse, Trippie asserts, “Love, you can hold my hand and feel safe
You can hop in my car, bae, and we can go.” Okay! The two B sections are a refrain and a chorus.  On the refrain, he sings:

“Bae, don't worry ‘bout what I said (I said)
Get that shit out your head (Your head)
No way I meant that shit, oh
Don’t let it get to your head
Bae, just forget what I said.”

Okay Trippie, will do. On the chorus, the sentiment is similar, with the key line being, “‘Cause I’m so sick of love songs.” Fair enough.  Essentially, the melodic rapper reminisces back to high school regarding a relationship.  Love sickness is indeed in the air.

5. Maude Latour, “Lovesick”

Starsick (EP) • Maude Latour • 2019

Maude Latour, Starsick (EP) [Photo Credit: Maude Latour]“Isn’t it amazing? That people connect for a minute or two?” That’s the observation that feeling and observation that Maude Latour makes on “Lovesick.” “Lovesick” appears as the closing cut of her 2019 EP, Starsick.  It’s certainly a treat with some excellent music cues and production by Mike Adubato.  Some of the winning musical touches include harmonized vocals and warm, keyboard accompaniment (piano, pads, etc.).

“Lovesick” is an utterly reminiscent and sublime way to conclude Starsick. Latour shows off her distinct, expressive voice, which bears some similar vocal qualities to Lorde, particularly her sophomore album, Melodrama.  The chorus is the crème de la crème, perfectly capturing the lovesick vibes.

“And I said
(Chemicals) ‘I love you so much’
(Metaphysical) ‘I love you so much, babe’
(Temperature) And I said
(Intermolecular) ‘I love you so much’
‘I love you so much, babe.’”

6. Mura Masa, “Love$ick”

Ft. A$AP Rocky

Mura Masa • Anchor Point • 2017

Mura Masa, Mura Masa [Photo Credit: Anchor Point]Mura Masa – what a compelling name for a musician, right? Definitely. The electronic music producer’s real name is Alex Crossan, and he hails from Guernsey (don’t feel bad if you don’t know where it is either).  Beyond some background, Mura Masa is best known for the song “Lovesick” (Mura Masa, 2017) which features rapper A$AP Rocky.

How did this collaboration come about? Well Crossan provides some insight.  More importantly, he puts in some serious work on the production, which is groovy AF.  His backdrop is flavorful, blending hip-hop, Caribbean, and electronic cues seamlessly. Of course, it’s A$AP Rocky that crafts the ‘lovesickness,’ characterizing himself as a “lovesick fuck” multiple times.  Charming!

“Okay, she giving me love, but it fuck my energy up
Every time it’s finna be summer, only got the memories of us
And now we industry lovers, they making enemies of us
I mean, sometimes we in public, they drain the synergy from us...”

7. Kevin George, “Lovesick”

Ft. Billy

FORTINA • Young Forever Inc. • 2018

Kevin George, FORTINA [Photo Credit: Young Forever Inc.]“No heart, girl in fact, what does one do / One do, when his high school sweetheart met a sweetheart and that sweetheart isn’t you…”  Again, we have lovesickness in the air! This time, it arrives courtesy of Kevin George assisted by Billy“Lovesick” opens up George’s 2018 album (or mini album/EP), FORTINA.

“What if I said I want your love / I want your Love…” Like most of the songs that grace this LOVESICK list, well, LOVE is indeed the problem – enough to make one totally SICK.  There’s not a great amount of depth mind you, but even being surface level to a degree, we pretty much get Kevin George’s point. One of the best parts of the song is the bridge section:

“While she upstairs, getting ready to take a bubble bath
You downstairs, gun to head 'cause she hates you”
God damn, you just want the love now
God damn, you can’t put the gun down
God damn, you can't comprehend this one
Bullet in the chamber, but that’s what love is.”

That love sickness is real y’all!

8. Mason Ramsey, “Lovesick Blues”

Famous (EP) • Big Loud / Atlantic • 2018

Mason Ramsey, Famous (EP) [Photo Credit: Atlantic / Big Loud]One viral video of the ‘yodeling Wal-Mart kid,’ 11-year old Mason Ramsey, translated into a record deal with Atlantic (Big Loud). Following the release of his post-yodeling, debut country single “Famous”, Ramsey returned to his roots, delivering a studio version of the Hank Williams classic that made him famous, “Lovesick Blues”.

This sick, tongue-n-cheek classic offered a lucrative lane for the young country singer that’s worth exploring.  An extremely talented kid with a great voice, his boyish pipes ‘pop’ on this tried-and-true classic. The only thing that’s sickening about this is how awesome he sounds!  “Lovesick Blues” appeared on his Famous (EP) in 2018.

9. Johnny Polygon, “LoveSick (Super Nintendo)”

The Nothing • Johnny Polygon • 2019

Johnny Polygon, The Nothing [Photo Credit: Johnny Polygon]“Love sick, masochists if this is all we are / Super Nintendo / It’s okay, it’s alright, we gon’ get fucked up tonight.” That’s some kind of LOVESICK hook if I do say so myself.  Definitely potent enough to get you totally – SHOOK! Okay, silliness aside, “LoveSick (Super Nintendo)” appears on The Nothing, the 2019 album by rapper Johnny Polygon.

“LoveSick (Super Nintendo)” depicts a ‘complicated’ relationship.  A prime example of the high-flying emotions: “Man, I just wanna do better, but she’s the fuckin’ devil…” That speaks volumes! Johnny doesn’t stop there as both verses feature colorful lines over dramatic (or relatively dramatic) minor-key production. “You’ll tell me that your day sucked, because of my behavior / Plus our neighbors, they nosey but fuck them, they don’t know me,” Johnny asserts on the first verse, continuing, “Plus, my n***as, my n***as, all say that you’re the homie / Plus, you know me, I’m stubborn, all that fucking on the floor gave me rug burn.”  Wow. And, how about a little excerpt from verse two: “The pain is inevitable and never on your schedule / The less you know the better you are…”

10. Jacob Whitesides, “Lovesick”

Why? • Double U • 2016

Jacob Whitesides, Why? [Photo Credit: Double U / BMG Rights Management]“Lovesick” (Why?, 2016) is a groovy, incredibly soulful record with a throwback vibe throughout. Who knew that pop could successfully fuse jazz and retro soul?  Excellent production touches organ, guitar, background vocals, and drum programming.  Singer/songwriter Jacob Whitesides shows off a fine set of pipes, delivering a balanced performance in which he never over-sings.

The love-stricken, ‘lovesick chorus’ is nothing short of infectious, despite the obvious, love-induced pain the young artist is experiencing.

“Because I’m lovesick
And there ain’t no cure
‘Cause I keep on coming back for more
Oh no, no, no (oh no, no, no)
I’m lovesick
Guess I got the blues
Doctor help I don’t know what to do.”
