Zerb and The Chainsmokers, with the assist of Ink, deliver an entertaining dance-pop record with “Addicted.”
“I’ma hit the club, throw it back…” Hell yeah! Zerb and The Chainsmokers (Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall) join forces for a brief but entertaining single, “Addicted”. While Drew often sings, he leaves the vocals up to featured guest, Ink. Ink has no shortage of swagger, bringing the heat throughout this two-and-a-half-minute bop. “Addicted” was written by all involved parties – Zerb, Taggart, Pall, and Ink. The results = #WINNING!
From the production end of things, Zerb and The Chainsmokers ‘kick ass and take names.’ “Addicted” features a sick groove from the onset. The beat is lit, while the instrumental only ascends to higher heights with the arrival of the drop. Prior to that, Ink ‘does the damn thing’ in the first verse, followed by the memorable, tuneful chorus:
“I might be out my mind
Or I might be the reason you came in here tonight
It ain’t no fun if you don’t cross the line
Come and get adic-dic-dic-dic-dicted one more time
Show me how your body feels on mine.”
The drop, that follows, amplifies the ear-catching glory, with the lyrics serving as an extension of the chorus. Infectious. There’s also a refrain which lifts off the first and second verses, featuring the lyrics, “I’ma hit the club, throw it back…” Speaking of the lyrics, they aren’t poetic or the second coming. That said, there are no shortage of entertaining lines. The second verse is a treat:
“I’ma hit the club, throw it back, back, back
Drinking skinny margaritas but that ass still fat
Don’t stand on the wall, motherfucker, work that back, back
Did they tell you?”
All told, Zerb and The Chainsmokers, with the help of Ink, deliver a fun dance-pop record with “Addicted”. There is no doubt you’ll be addicted to this one, especially if dance music is yo thang!
