ZAYN, Love Like This | Track Review 🎵

ZAYN, now signed with Mercury Records, makes an enjoyable, fresh, and groovy return with single, “Love Like This.”

“Everything is on the line, but I would rather be dead / If it’s gonna mean a life without you, baby.” WOO! 🎙 ZAYN (Zayn Malik) feels some type of way about this girl! Following three albums with RCA – his platinum debut (💿 Mind of Mine), gold sophomore LP (💿 Icarus Falls), and the under-appreciated, un-RIAA certified 💿 Nobody Is Listening – the pop singer and former 1D member has signed with Mercury Records. Sometimes, a fresh start is just what the doctor ordered.  That seems to be the case with his first single on his new label, 🎵 “Love Like This”.  No, ZAYN doesn’t flip the game upside down or anything, but “Love Like This” sounds fresh and the perfect track delivering those summery vibes.

There’s plenty to heart about “Love Like This.” It begins with the awesome groove, which initiates at the top of the joint. Besides the groove, there are sweet musical cues in play (production courtesy of 🎛 The Monsters & Strangerz and Jon Bellion), led by those keys 🎹! Melodically, the lines are quick, rhythmically sung by the talented artist. As always, ZAYN brings impressive vocals to the table. He sounds strong in his middle register, with his expressiveness always yielding a win.  Furthermore, the ripeness of his falsetto is always impressive, arriving timely on this track. Besides his voice, the vocal production is alluring, with various effects in play, including reverb.  As far as the songwriting, this isn’t a deep track, nor is that the intent.  That said, the repetition brings some gimmickry, which bodes well.  The section to beat, unsurprisingly, is the chorus, which is catchy and tuneful.

Usually, I never wanna jump like this

But I think I wanna dump my chips ‘cause

I cannot go back

I guess that’s faith like this

Give you everything and you can skate like this (Woo)

But I think I gotta take that risk ‘cause

I cannot go back.”

All told, 🎵 “Love Like This” is an enjoyable, fun, and well-rounded pop single from this handsome,  talented artist. Hopefully, “Love Like This” gets ZAYN back on the good foot.
