Zara Larsson, Talk About Love | Track Review 🎵

Rising Swedish pop artist Zara Larsson returns with her first single of 2021, “Talk About Love,” assisted by idiosyncratic rapper, Young Thug. 

Swedish singer 🎙 Zara Larsson returns with her first brand-new single in 2021, 🎵 “Talk About Love.”  Can you guess what the theme of the record is by the title? If you answered ‘love,’ well you’d be correct! Larsson makes it clear, “You know I’m down to go anywhere / But I told you I don’t wanna go there…” Hmm, where doesn’t she want to go? Could be that complicated thing known as L-O-V-E, sigh.

“Talk About Love” is written by 🎼 ✍ Amy Allen, 🎼 ✍ Dewaine Whitmore, 🎼 ✍ Jeffery Lamar Williams, and 🎼 ✍ Mike Sabath.  Sabath delivers the sleek production work, which includes cool, colorful and warm synths, as well as those rhythmic, trap drums.  The instrumental intro, in particular, is quite lovely.  It all works to Larsson’s favor, who serves up beautiful, clear vocals on her verse.  She shines most on the centerpiece of the record is the chorus, which is incredibly catchy.  Here, her vocals sound particularly strong when harmonized. Additionally, her ad-libs are pretty sweet.

“I don’t wanna talk about love (Yeah)
I don’t wanna talk about love (Yeah)
I just wanna keep us right here in the momen
Why you gotta go get lost in еmotion?”

As for featured guest 🎙 Young Thug, he provides a stark contrast to Larsson on the second verse. He’s melodic, though remains an acquired taste – idiosyncratic, for better or worse (you decide).

Final Thoughts 💭

All in all, “Talk About Love” is an enjoyable pop record.  It suits the young Zara Larsson extraordinarily well, highlighting her strengths.  I’d argue that Young Thug isn’t necessary on this particular track (no offense) but that’s no deal breaker.  Game changer? No, but a nice addition to the playlist.
