Scanning the Charts – Billboard 200 & Billboard Hot 100 (9/26/20) – YoungBoy Never Broke Again debuts at no.  1 on the Billboard 200 with Top.

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.  To reiterate what I said last week (Big Sean Takes Detroit 2 to No. 1), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that 💩 moving.  This week, I picked out five notable observations from the Billboard 200, and five observations from the Billboard Hot 100, with YoungBoy Never Broke Again debuting at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Top. Check out my takeaways!

Billboard 200 

💭 YoungBoy Never Broke Again debuts at no. 1 with Top.  Top marks the rapper’s third chart topper in less than a year.

💭 Pop Smoke (Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon) and Juice WRLD (Legends Never Die) remain the models of consistency, holding serve at nos. 2 and 3 respectively.

💭 After debuting at no. 1 last week, Big Sean sees Detroit 2 slide from no. 1 to no. 7.

💭 Marilyn Manson starts in a familiar spot, no. 8, with his latest LP, WE ARE CHAOS.  Indeed Marilyn, indeed!

💭 Further down the chart, Ballerini the reworked, reimagined version of the Kelsea Ballerini album Kelsea, debuts at no. 89. It marks the final debut in the top half of the Billboard 200.

Billboard Hot 100 

💭 Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion spend their fourth nonconsecutive week atop the Hot 100 with “WAP”.  BTS spends a second consecutive week at no. 2 with its former chart topper, “Dynamite”.

💭 24kGoldn is on the rise with “Mood” featuring iann dior, holding serve at no. 6 with gains in performance.

💭 YoungBoy Never Broke Again also impacts the Billboard Hot 100 with a number of entries from Top. “My Window” (no. 35), “Drug Addiction” (no. 44), “Dead Trollz” (no. 72), “Cross Roads” (no. 76), and “The Last Backyard…” (no. 81) mark the top entries from the rapper.

💭 Marshmello and Demi Lovato bow at no. 36 with their collaboration “OK Not to Be OK”.    

💭 Country musician Andrew Jannakos sees his iTunes topper, “Gone Too Soon”, debut at no. 65 on the Hot 100.  Pretty sweet!
