With ‘Until Death Call My Name’ pushed back for a late April 2018 release, YoungBoy Never Broke Again releases a third advance single, “Right or Wrong,” featuring Future.
YoungBoy Never Broke Again bucks the trend of brief records on “Right or Wrong,” featuring Future. “Right or Wrong” serves as the third single from the young rapper’s forthcoming debut album, Until Death Call My Name. Originally due sooner than later, Until Death Call My Name was pushed back until April 27, 2018.
“Right or Wrong” checks off certain boxes for the modern-day rap record. The production work bangs hard, fueling the fire for both rappers. Safe to say, the trap is alive – at least in sound. YoungBoy Never Broke Again delivers an energetic, agile flow throughout the course of the record. He’s a bit too wordy, particularly on the hook, which lacks catchiness, but, he has his share of moments.
“Risk my life on my partna’ care if he is right or wrong
So much pain in my body I’ve been like this too long
So much tryna stop me but I keep movin’ on
I never give up I gotta keep it strong
Things ain’t been going right
Take a risk and you gambling your life
Forever thuggin’ on site
My heart cold at night
Things ain’t been going right
Take a risk and you gambling your life
Forever thuggin’ on site
My heart cold at night.”
Future, who arrives later, does his usual thing, for better or for worse. His guest verse is respectable, if a bit predictable. For example, how many more rhymes is he going to drop about the Range [Rover]?
Final Thoughts
At four minutes long, “Right or Wrong” sort of makes one hope for the brevity of “Outside Today”, which is nearly two minutes shorter. The energy is much appreciated, as well as some swagger from Future, but “Right or Wrong” feels like it’s missing that extra something.
