Rising Brooklyn rapper Young M.A returns with a new banger, “Praktice.” She remains fearless, unapologetic, and ‘tough as nails’ in her delivery.
“Y’all talkin’ ‘bout practice…/ B*tch, we active, we active / I just dump a b*tch and dump my ashes, my ashes.” Judging by the aforementioned excerpted lyrics, Young M.A doesn’t seem to be the least bit soft. After dropping her promising debut EP, Herstory, in 2017, the twentysomething Brooklyn Rapper returns with a new single, “Praktice.”
She kicks things off with an a cappella intro:
“Like we ain’t never go hard for this
They don’t let us in, we bogartin’ this shit.”
Some subtle instrumental accompaniment backs the rapper as she finishes the intro (“They talkin’ ‘bout practice, bloody…”). Beginning on the first verse, she’s backed by banging, East coast, hardcore production. Naturally, she drops unapologetic, tough-minded rhymes, rivaling many of her male counterparts. She’s profane and sexual, much like was on her breakout hit, “OOOUUU.” Furthermore, she continues to be open about her sexuality.
“No Netflix and chill, b*tch, I get checks and chill
Put that pu**y on my grills, bitch, tell me how it feels (woo)
They say that I’m rude, no I’m just that real (woo).”
The second verse continues in similar fashion. Essentially, Young M.A spits plenty of game.
Final Thoughts
All in all, “Praktice” is a respectable banger. It doesn’t supplant the untouchable “OOOUUU,” but it’s rock solid – rather, rap solid.
