Ahead of his second album of 2016, ‘White Friday (CM9), Yo Gotti drops star-studded flex-track, “Castro” featuring Kanye West, Big Sean, Quavo & 2 Chainz.

“Down in the DM” rapper Yo Gotti wastes no times dropping his second album of 2016, White Friday (CM9).  Ahead of the December 23, 2016 release, two singles were available: “Weatherman” (featuring Kodak Black) and “Castro” (featuring Kanye West, Big Sean, Quavo & 2 Chainz).  “Castro” doesn’t achieve the same heights as the rapper’s aforementioned megahit, but it gets respectable marks by all means.

Opening “Castro,” the hook is drenched in swag.  The hook is a combination of Gotti, Kanye West, and continually rising Quavo:

“Cubans on me like I’m Castro / hit your b*tch with a backstroke / Spanish b*tch, J Lo/ Dope money, Pablo / Astronaut, take off / John Travolta (Face off) / In the kitchen, have a bake off / she gon’ snort her whole damn face off…”

As to be expected, the hook is politically incorrect as albeit.  Nonetheless, it’s hard to knock the cleverness.

“Castro” is something of a dizzying track.  There’s lots of features – pieces – for a track that lasts under four minutes. Ultimately, it’s a flex, club-street track about drugs, sex, and money. Yo Gotti raps the first verse, featuring some contributions from West.  He spends the verse bragging about wanting to take-back sex, money, and etc.:

“Hit your b*tch in the A loft / hair cool but the p*ssy wack / wanna unf*ck her, get her p*ssy back…”

Quavo raps the second verse.  Among the best lines:

“So many onions in the trap, make me cry…”

Finally, 2 Chainz takes the third verse:

“I don’t know if she got a snort habit / or the b*tch got sinus / Pyrex tried to sign us / Bakin’ soda tryna sign us / Got a red stove and a gold fork / shit lookin’ like the 9ners…”

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Castro” is an enjoyable flex track.  Yo Gotti excels at such cuts, even as “Castro” falls short of the glory of say “Down in the DM.”  Big Sean and Kanye West have a minimal role, but both make this record interesting.  The three rap verses are essentially one-and-the-same, at least in message and overall vibe.
