YG, Suu Whoop © Def JamCompton, California standout YG returns with an electrifying, Blood-allegiant single, “Suu Whoop.” The rapper is turned up to the nth degree.

“Suu whoop, my coupe, suu whoop, suu whoop / Suu whoop, my b*tch, put red on her shoes / Suu whoop ‘til I die, no lie, that’s truth / Suu whoop, gang ties, bullet wounds, that’s proof.” As always, Compton, California rapper YG represents the Bloods on his latest single, “Suu Whoop.” Presumably, “Suu Whoop” will appear on the rapper’s third studio album, Stay Dangerous. He is backed up by strong production work, courtesy of J Holt and DJ Mustard.  The production features a hard beat that anchors things down, as well as dark, yet surprisingly poised synths.

Expectedly, YG is on his game.  He showcases an electrifying flow. Simply put, he’s turned up, and chocked-full of swagger.  Among his best moments is the aforementioned pre-hook, featuring the bloods gang call (“Suu whoop, my b*tch, put red on her shows”). He follows it up with the equally alluring hook.

“Suu whoop gang or don’t bang (suu whoo-suu whoop, bang) / You ain’t got a pistol, don’t hang (suu whoo-suu whoop, don’t hang) / I ain’t scared, n***a, I’m brazy (suu whoo-suu whoop, I’m brazy) / YG a rapper and he full-fledged bang (bang).”

On the verses, he continues to pledge his allegiance to the Bloods. He’s blunt about it on the first verse, asserting, “The Crips know I’m with this Blood shit.” Following each verse and preceding the pre-hook, there’s a ‘refrain.’  Naturally, YG keeps us informed of the fat that he’s ‘brazy,’ as well as idolizing rapper B Brazy.

Final Thoughts

All in all, YG delivers a rock-solid banger with “Suu Whoop.” Great production, electrifying flow and performance, and infectious hooks.
