Well, 🎙 YG and 🎙 Big Sean are collaborating once again! This time, the rappers join force with the plan to 🎵 “Go Big”, or so that’s the name of the single.  “Go Big” appears on the soundtrack for 💿 Coming 2 America, the sequel to the beloved 1988 film.  We won’t waste time giving an opinion regarding the fact that there’s actually a sequel to this classic – we’ll merely focus on the song itself.

“Go Big” features production from 🎛 BREGMA.  As to be expected with a rap record, the backdrop is successful overall.  The beat goes hard, the brassy synths malicious, and the overall aesthetic and vibe, winning.  It is more minimalist but honestly, don’t both YG and Big Sean do wonders with skeletal bangers? Of course, they do.  The chorus is minimal to the nth degree.  You can guess the key lyrics, right? “Go big, go big / Hop big? Real big, sumo, fat crib…”  It’s basic AF but catchy enough.

Beyond the chorus, YG keeps things drippy on the first verse.  He doesn’t serve up much depth but when the name of your record is called “Go Big,” it’s not surprising cliches and the normal platitudes are what results.  It’s a similar story for Big Sean, who is focused on bank and sex. I quote, “Buyin’ a foreign with Pesos, I’m too real can’t play roles / Just payrolls, Jeff Bezos, and my bitch co-CEO.” Deep stuff…says no one, EVER.

Final Thoughts 💭

So, how does “Go Big” stack up? It’s mediocre at best.  The production works though lives certainly won’t be changed after hearing it (no disrespect).  When it comes to the bars, well, they’re pretty empty – shallow.  Honestly, neither YG nor Big Sean say anything truly notable.  “Go Big” is just al’ight.
