XXXTENTACION, Changes © Bad Vibes ForeverXXXTENTACION drops a brief single “Changes,” a minimal, but beautiful record that finds him reflectively singing.

20-year-old rapper Jahseh Onfroy, better known as XXXTENTACION, is back! The unapologetic rapper, once known for “Look at Me!”, returns with two much tamer singles, “SAD!” and “Changes.” “Changes” clocks in at just over two minutes.

The record opens with moody, minimal piano. Like “SAD!”, “Changes” serves up more reflective singing from XXXTENTACION.  He sings the chorus, which is the major section of this particular record.

“Mmm, baby, I don’t understand this / You’re changing, I can’t stand it / My heart can’t take this damage / And the way I feel, can’t stand it…”

A bridge follows, performed by PnB Rock.  It’s even simpler than the chorus

“Girl, you’re making it hard for me…”

Other notable elements of “Changes” are the addition of vocal harmony, as well as strings. In a minimal record such as this one, a few additional vocals and instruments go a long way.

Final Thoughts

As an interlude, “Changes” is a very beautiful record.  The main rub is that it’s not fully developed. It would be nice to hear XXXTENTACION take this to the next level and make it something even more special.
