On the brief single “Real Rich,” Wiz Khalifa, assisted by Gucci Mane, recycle the same old rap clichés without transcending beyond them in the least.
Keeping things short and sweet, Wiz Khalifa returns with a brief new single, “Real Rich.” Prolific title, right? While “Real Rich” clocks in at just north of two minutes, Wiz invites a friend along for the ride, Gucci Mane. Star power. With two skilled rappers on the track, the only result is ‘fire’ right? WRONG.
“Real Rich” isn’t a big miss by any means. In some folks’ eyes, calling it a ‘miss’ at all may sound harsh. For the most part, this track checks off boxes in regards to production, a catchy hook (performed by Wiz), and a respectable flow from both rappers. The content, however is so-so at best. Wiz Khalifa flexes on the first verse, as well as dismisses the possibility for a girlfriend: “Ain’t got time for a girlfriend, telling that bitch that I ain’t got no feelings.” Gucci Mane proclaims himself to be “A country-ass, Beverly hill-billy” on the second verse, bragging about the perks of being a “Superstar, Ed Sheeran.” Oh brother.
Final Thoughts
So, how does “Real Rich” stack up? Ultimately, it’s a good thing that both rappers are already ‘real rich’ because this little joint won’t be the source of much income. At best, it’s okay, but both rappers have done better. Again, it’s not horrible, but honestly, neither are serving up anything brand new or the least bit transcendent.
