Following the successful “Bammer,” rapper Wiz Khalifa, assisted by Tyga, returns with another banger, “Contact.”
Wiz Khalifa tickled my fancy once already with “Bammer”, where the rapper asserts, “Don’t give me no bammer weed / We don’t smoke that shit, it’s TGOD.” He’s back once more with “Contact,” though I might argue that the high is less potent. On “Contact,” Wiz keeps things short, well under three minutes, and invites a colleague along for the ride, Tyga. While clearly less potent than “Bammer,” “Contact” is still a vibe.
Cubeatz and Ronny J give Wiz Khalifa and Tyga a winning backdrop to spit their agile rhymes against. Both rappers split duties on the chorus, the centerpiece of “Contact”:
“I’m a big dog, baby, I’m a bark back Got a badass bitch with her own racks They don’t like it, they don’t like it, tell ‘em ‘fuck that’ Woah, kush strong, catch a contact Bitches wanna talk to me, can’t contact Hit my nigga for the plug, he the contact And we only do big contracts Woah, kush strong, catch a contact.”
The chorus lacks depth, but it’s definitely catchy, and features the things both rappers enjoy: drugs (weed), drip, and sex. Wiz raps the first verse, continuing to focus on the aforementioned things. Examples include “Remindin’ me of my Impala when she makin’ it bounce,” “I be smookin’ on some gas, yeah give the cash,” and “A hundred milli in the bank, I just made it last year.” As for Tyga, sex is the modus operandi, as always. Examples: “She threw me the pussy, you tried to intercept,” “I deal with your body, open your legs, put the dick,” and “I’m too busy to fuck her, I’m a settle for some head.”
Final Thoughts
If the goal is to merely drop an enjoyable banger, well, Wiz Khalifa does that once more with “Contact.” Neither he nor Tyga change the world with their bars – there is no transcendence whatsoever – but “Contact” is successful. Lives won’t be changed, but, if you are in need of a temporary high, just make contact with “Contact” I suppose…
