“It’s raining men! Hallelujah! / It’s raining men! Amen!” HALLELUJAH !!!  Maybe it’s blasphemous – pretty sure it is – but “Picture it…” Sophia Petrillo!!! F**k that rain! Imagine that chiseled, hunky men are falling from the skies – a gift from heaven – just ready to be “Boo’d Up” with various “Prospects”? Oh, the joystick action! Now that you’ve been properly stimulated and titillated, you can see why The Weather Girls’ “It’s Raining Men” is considered an iconic, joyful gay anthem – a surefire LGBTQ Bop !

The Weather Girls ( Izora Armstead and Martha Wash) gave us that legendary forecast in 1982. A Success? Surprisingly, “It’s Raining Men” was only moderately successful, peaking at no. 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 – SHAMEFUL!  Nonetheless, this Paul Jabara / Paul Shaffer penned record has become a staple of pop culture.

“God bless Mother Nature, she’s a single woman too
She took off to heaven and she did what she had to do
She taught every angel
She rearranged the sky
So that each and every woman could find her perfect guy.”

Is Mother Nature is a single woman?  Maybe, but considering how beloved the song is within the gay community, I’m not so sure Mother Nature isn’t a member of the LGBTQ+ community! A single gay man, perhaps? Regardless, “For the first time in history / It’s gonna start raining men!”  Hasn’t happened yet, but we’ll all hold out hope!

Music Video

Honestly, a song about “raining men” requires a music video – it’s a non-negotiable people!  Expectedly, the video is outlandish, with Izora and Martha taking their meteorology roles serious, dammit!  Yes, there are raining men in various outfits, with the most important part being their revealed skin! Yes, there’s chest and abs FTW! Also, if you’re into it, there’s thigh action and how about those bums in those undies? Like totally Delish, right ?  Honestly, you must see this cringy yet enticing video for yourself – words don’t do it justice!

Final Thoughts

What more can one say about “It’s Raining Men”? It’s silly AF but also irresistible AF.  Outlandish, novel songs make life better, wouldn’t you agree.  And let’s be honest with ourselves.  Wouldn’t things be easier if men – or women for that matter – just rained down and we had our pick of who we’d like without being complicated? I’m just saying!
