Prepare to beam with P-R-I-D-E! Beaming with Pride celebrates, embraces, and spotlights songs by LGBTQ musicians or allies.  Here, we provide background and insight into musicians, analyze, plus go gaga over the decadent bops served up.  When songs dictate deeper and more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is fully articulated.  All styles of music are welcome, whether the songs are classics or brand-new. So, without further ado, in the fourth edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Basic Instinct” performed by Walter Miller.

“I got another side of me / That’s been buried for a long while.”
Oh, you do, Walter Miller? Please, sir, tell me more! “Something tells me you’re an animal / Do you wanna help me get wild?” If you’re asking me personally, Walter, it’s a resounding hell yeah! My guy, you are incredibly easy on the eyes (that’s an undisputable fact).  But, even more impressive than the physique is the fact that you can S-I-N-G, SING! Better yet, you can S-A-N-G, SANG! Our Bayou-born and bred, out and proud rockin’ singer-songwriter sings his cute little ass off (🤫 🤭) on his liberating pop/rock single, “Basic Instinct”. From the jump, Walter came to play – kick ass and taking names, baby! Miller penned “Basic Instinct” and produced it with Collin Hanley and Zack Page.

From the jump, “Basic Instinct” slaps! Glam rock vibes from the get-go, carried by the ripe ‘80s guitars. This is self-described ‘gay guy rock and roll’ at its finest.  “Basic Instinct” features epic production work, leaning into an arena rock sound.  Beyond those sickening guitars and pummeling live drums, Walter Miller is the star of the show. He comes out guns blazing, oozing with confidence, swagger, and unapologetically himself.  He wows with his exuberant, youthful vocals by Miller. I adore his tone! The melodies are tuneful AF – verses, pre-chorus, chorus, etc.! His voice grows even more powerful during the pre-chorus, where he literally ‘steps on the gas.’ His voice soars on the even more powerful chorus, so much so that this fella  “Got me on my knees.” Woo! Beyond his core vocals, his ad-libs and riffs are incredibly impressive. Our southern boy, now based in New York, has some serious vocal chops.  A few more notes about this gay rock and roll song. It features a guitar solo that cooks.  That is very ‘80s 🤘! Also, very ‘80s is the modulation (key change) that occurs near the end 🤘. “Basic Instinct” is nothing short of epic. Walter Miller proves to us that glam rock is alive and well, with a heaping dose of the glam 💅🤘!
