ublin’s Von Venn have just released their new single “You Can Talk To Me“. The track serves as the first glimpse into their highly anticipated full-length album Forgetting the Fall, showcasing the band’s evolution following the critical acclaim of their previous release “Jeanie Is Out.”Led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gary Cox, Von Venn built significant momentum with their last album, which featured tracks “Ghost” and “Constant Girl.” Now the indie band return with a bold new collection that speaks about life’s complex emotional terrain, journeying from youthful innocence through complicated motivations toward eventual redemption.
Written throughout 2024 and recorded at Soundcaster Studios in Dublin, Forgetting the Fall highlights the band’s signature melodic hooks. It also shines a light on Gary’s introspective storytelling. Also, the new material demonstrates Von Venn’s continued growth as both musicians and storytellers and it continues to maintain the grit that has defined their sound over the last decade.
“You Can Talk To Me” encapsulates the album’s spirit. Moreover, it features memorable guitar riffs, driving basslines, and infectious drum grooves which will get your feet moving. The song unfolds as a late-night dialogue between two wandering souls, each trapped in their own confusion and quiet temptation. The narrative expertly blurs reality and pretense as the characters hold onto false innocence, repeatedly claiming “we’re just killing time” while ignoring deeper currents stirring beneath the surface.
Von Venn represents the creative vision of Gary Cox, who contributes vocals, guitars, bass, and synths. The lineup includes Terry Doyle on keyboards, synths, and vocals, Ciara Henry on vocals, and Mark Wogan on drums. Together, they create a sound that honors indie and alternative music traditions while establishing a distinctly contemporary voice.
