Vince Staples, Get the Fuck Off My Dick © Def JamEmploying the art of shock value, Cali rapper Vince Staples returns in explicit, ‘sexual’ fashion with “Get the F*ck Off My Dick.”

California rapper Vince Staples makes a statement with both song title and cover art of “Get the F*ck Off My Dick.” Fittingly, the cover art sports a prophylactic – a yellow condom.  Charming.

Following a somewhat enigmatic intro, Vince Staples unleashes the explicit, unapologetic hook:

“Get the f*ck off now, get the f*ck off my dick
Hard to tell which one more perfect, man, my art or my b*tch
Hard to tell which one more perfect, man, my car or my crib
Avant-garde with this shit, get your jaws off my dick.”

As raunchy as it may be – and it is – it’s also memorable.  A strong flow continues throughout the course of the verses.  Staples doesn’t rely on repetition, offering some variety in regards to the lyrics.  In other words, he’s got bars.

“Hold up, switch the flow up, I won’t roll for nothing
Rappers ho up, then they blow up, guess who do the f*ckin’?
VMA and Grammy snubbin’, not walkin’ through no clubs
Homie you can keep your money, it don’t do nothing for me.”

That variety is a direct contrast to the backdrop, which is a constant loop with a few frills.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Vince Staples shines on “Get the F*ck Off My Dick.” He isn’t being sexual, despite the condom artwork.  He speaks about criticism, snubs, and essentially, a lack of respect for his art. It’s a bold, but legit message.  Obviously, Staples doesn’t expect nor intend for “GTFOMD” to be a commercial hit.  It’s not a hit in that regard, but the theme and how he ties it with shock-value lyricism makes it appealing.
