Brighton-based, English/Italian pop singer/songwriter Vic Richardson proves he’s ‘one to watch’ on his alluring, debut single, “Oh I Love You.”
What’s amazing is that there is a world filled with talent. Even better is the fact that there is a world chocked-full of fresh, rising talent. One of those up-and-comers is English/Italian singer/songwriter Vic Richardson, who is based in Brighton, England. Richardson began his music career in his late twenties and has a wide range of influences ranging from The Beatles to James Bay. Listening to his single “Oh I Love You,” it’s clear that Richardson loves to “explore and create interesting pop sounds.” It’s also clear that he has a love for the acoustic, the classic, and the throwback.
Richardson’s distinct, expressive vocals stand out on “Oh I Love You.” He has a truly gorgeous and compelling instrument on his hands that stands out the first time you hear it. While he may have a few pitch imperfections here and there, generally his inviting, unique tone makes even the flawed sound truly alluring and charming. That’s a gift that speaks to his distinctiveness and artistry early-on in his career. Beyond the focal point, “Oh I Love You” exhibits a simplicity that’s truly refreshing. As enticing as Vic’s voice, the record also has a hypnotic, lilting quality. Further amplifying the appeal is sincere, thoughtful songwriting, and lovely production work. Regarding the production, it’s the guitar and use of strings, particularly cello, that stands out the most.
Final Thoughts
Vic Richardson – remember that name. He shows he has ample potential on “Oh I Love You.” His authenticity and sincerity go a long way to say the least. And, as aforementioned, strong songwriting and production don’t hurt his cause either. This is a solid start, and Richardson should only grow more and more mature as an artist.
