Give me a G! G! Give me an A! A! Give me a Y! Y! What’s that spell? GAY! Merriam-Webster describes gay, an adjective, as of, relating to, or characterized by sexual or romantic attraction to people of one’s same sex, and adds that it is often used to refer to men only.  There you have it! The musical compendium at hand is very, very gay 🌈. If that offends you, well, too bad, so sad! Kick rocks!  Honestly, you can just leave, or check out something else, I guess…  but it may still be gay because The Musical Hype has, and always will be, an inclusive space, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community. We amplify queer voices, not silence them!  Silencing them would not be very gay, and that would not be very good!

Utterly Thrilling Gay Songs, Vol. 3 is intentionally published near National Coming Out Day 2025. Most of the songs feature the word gay in their song title. But there are a few exceptions, all of which relate to being gay. Given that this is volume three, we’ve delivered gay songs twice before: 15 Utterly Thrilling, GAY Songs (2021), and 13 More Utterly Thrilling, GAY Songs (2025). Keeping it gay, Utterly Thrilling Gay Songs, Vol. 3 features songs by Ash Gordon & Alaska Thunderfuck, Donavan Burt, Eli, Juno Lev, Samuel Saint, and Super Cassette. So, without further ado, let your pride heart burst as you explore these 20 utterly thrilling gay songs…  It’s volume three, y’all! #SLAYYY 💅!!!

“It’s Miss Vivalicious!”
Indeed, Ve’ondre (Ve’ondre Mitchell)! The transgender Gen-Z internet celebrity, singer, and activist kicks things off gayly 🌈 with “Gay.” “Gay” clocks in under two minutes in duration, but Ve’ondre makes the most out of that brief runtime.  “Gay” is set in a minor key.  Electronic-tinged hip-hop production (Matias Mora) with a banging beat fuels Ve’ondre’s fire.  She brings plenty of attitude. “Now he fantasize about unwrapping my tape /‘Vivalish’ delicious, right? Does that make me fucking gay?’” she raps in the first verse, responding, “And if it did, is that so bizarre? / If you think I make you gay, you prolly are.” Word. Vivalicious confirms in the second verse, “Yeah nigga, you prolly are [🌈],” adding, “But I never understood why anybody would care.” Say, that, say that! Fiercely, Ve’ondre flexes, “My titties sittin’, My tuck is tight Nobody clockin’ this bitch, I’m lookin’ mother-tuckin’ right (Right).” Ooh-wee! “Gay” is fierce as fuucckk!

2. Joe Daccache, “F.A.G.”

F.A.G.” » Joe Daccache » 2021

Joe Daccache F.A.G. [📷: Joe Daccache]During Pride 🏳️‍🌈 Month in 2021, Lebanese singer/songwriter Joe Daccache released the empowering “F.A.G.”. He DOES NOT utter the f-slur but rather uses the short slang as an acronym worth supporting: “Fabulous and Gay.” The handsome Daccache is onto something with “F.A.G.” His voice sounds utterly fantastic, particularly when he ascends into his upper register. “F.A.G.” features picturesque production and rhythmic, tuneful melodies.  There’s sweetness even though it is clear that he has experienced his share of homophobia. “Hey, don’t you know when you call me by that name / I don’t let it throw me,  ‘Let the bullets rain,” he sings in the first verse, adding, “I’ve been through all this pain, but this is just how I was made.” In the brief second verse, he asserts, “Unashamed of my creation / Turn it up, now go on to say it.” So many times, there is ample shame associated with being a member of the LGBTQ+ population, regardless of which letter characterizes you. Rather than cry and suffer, Daccache encourages us to be true to self: “I’m loving all this energy / I never felt so fucking free / I know that I’m fabulous and gay.” Don’t let anybody break you with their words, let alone their narrow-minded view of a world that is big enough for everybody! “F.A.G.” speaks volumes.

3. Biscuit Beats, “I Ain’t Gay”

“I Ain’t Gay” » Crusty » 2025

Biscuit Beats, I Ain’t Gay [📷: Crusty]

“I ain’t gay but I do gay stuff / Like fucking dudes in the back of my truck.”
Say what, now?! If you have to say that you’re not gay, or no homo, doesn’t that sound like you are denying being gay, or even an itty bitty bit gay? Also, if you are a man who has sex with other men, there is a label, right? You fit somewhere in the LGBTQ+ community, right? Call it what you want, Biscuit Beats, but asserting non-gayness and proceeding to list the gay sexual acts you partake in makes the argument seem flimsy.   No judgement, though! The memorably risqué, NSFW lyrics of “I Ain’t Gay”, an AI country song, continue: “A little ass slap don’t mean I’m queer / I just suck some dick when I drink my beer.” Well, I’ll give you pass with the ass slapping – it happens in sports all the time! But oral sex with the same sex, and denying the gayness of it? Hmm… “I Ain’t Gay” seems hung up on feminine stereotypes and views on homosexuality, hence why the AI singer is anti-gay while partaking in gay acts that he shouldn’t be ashamed of.  This un-gay guy is more evidence of how the gay community is not a monolith.  He denies a label, yet, ultimately, he is a masculine gay (or bi, pan, etc.) man.  The AI singer confirms his masculinity not only by drinking beer but also, loving stereotypical country things: “I love my guns, and I have my rights.” I think this bro is a proud republican! Still, despite loving guns and football, he seems to enjoy balls, if you catch my drift.  “I fuck dudes on Friday nights,” he asserts, adding, “And stroke my buddy in the bathroom stall.” To be fair, there is an argument about a mutual masturbation experience not being gay, but still… does it matter regardless? No, it shouldn’t.  What’s wrong with being gay? Own it, my guy!  Other ear-catching moments include “He grabs my waste, I slap his ass / We’re just two men who like to smash,” and “I suck a dick, but just us two.” “I Ain’t Gay” is, well, very gay – in a masculine way. “I ain’t gay now hear me out / I just like men, and I say it proud!” Word.

4. Wheeler Walker Jr., “I Sucked Another Dick Last Night”

WW III » Pepperhill Music » 2018

Wheeler Walker Jr., WW III [📷: Pepperhill Music]

“I sucked another dick last night / Not sayin’ that’s wrong or right / First few that I blew / I could blame on the booze.”
😬 😳 Being inebriated can make you do a lot of stuff, including giving guys a blow job, according to comedic country musician Wheeler Walker Jr. (Ben Hoffman). If you have followed Walker’s music, sex is prevalent. “I Sucked Another Dick Last Night”, the fifth track from his 2018 album, WW III, is not the first time this straight man has engaged in oral sex with other men. In 2016, he was on the receiving end in “Which One O’ You Queers Gonna Suck My Dick” from Redneck Shit. But, he’s the giver these last few times. In the chorus, he continues, “But now it’s just something I do / We didn’t fuck, so don’t get uptight / But I sucked another dick last night.” At least he admitted it…

The only problem is, Wheeler is a married man with a son.  He tells his wife she’d be the recipient of the dick sucking, “if you had a dong.” Word. He also tells her not to tell his son. Describing himself as a “cock-gobblin’, cum-swallerin’, crazy old man 🥴,” he sings, “Please accept me for the guy that I am /And not what I’d do in the back of the van.”  WE LISTEN, AND WE DON’T JUDGE… Yeah, that’s bullshit, we DO judge! But, honestly, doesn’t Wheeler makes us judge him, with lines like “Didn’t kiss neither of you [wife and son] until I brushed my teeth / So, I need you to stop all this judging of me.” Hmm. So, how does he identify sexually? It is hard to tell, but, he enjoys bananas, once a month at the most, or so he tells it. Walker Jr. gives us a comedic, gay country song we won’t forget anytime soon. “I Sucked Another Dick Last Night” is something else to say the least! Fun fact: Hoffman is the older brother of Babydaddy (Scott Huffman), a member of the iconic LGBTQ band, Scissor Sisters.

5. Ash Gordon & Alaska Thunderfuck, “Everyone Is A Little Bit Gay”

“Everyone Is a Little Bit Gay” » Ash Gordon » 2022

Ash Gordon & Alaska Thunderfuck, Everyone Is A Little Bit Gay [📷: Ash Gordon]

“If your mind is in the gutter / Studies show you’re a little bit funner.”
Ash Gordon (Ashley Gordon, she/her), truer words have never been spoken! #SLAY 💅! Ash collaborates with the one and only Alaska Thunderfuck (Justin Honard) on the gayyyyy “Everyone Is A Little Bit Gay”. Just a little bit gay? That’s all? Puh-leeeze! Anyways, Gordon, Honard, Paul Coulthrup, and Tomas Costanza wrote this little bit gay joint. Costanza produced it. “Everyone Is A Little Bit Gay” features danceable vibes from the get-go. There’s no sitting down on this one!

Ash and Alaska serve up playful, tongue-in-cheek vocals. I ❤️ it when they sing simultaneously. The contrasting vocal timbre blends fabulously, and we stan for fabulousness.  A prime example: “Everyone is a little bit gay / A little bit gay / A little bit gay.” Separately, the slaying power is top-notch, too.  Beyond her excerpted dirty-minded lyrics, Ash asserts, “People say they swing one way / But gravity needs room to sway / Therefore the law of physics say / Everyone is a little bit gay.” Ooh-wee, it’s scientific! It should come as no shock that Alaska has plenty to say! “The world is one big ball of clay / It’s up to us to find the shape,” she sings, continuing, “We’re made of stars we come from apes / And everyone is a little gay.”  Among her most iconic lines comes later:  “Set your own intention / Be your own invention / Defying all convention / Did I forget to mention / I’m gay.” Again, I say, #SLAY 💅! “Everyone Is A Little Bit Gay” is a bop and a half, PERIODTTT!

6. Lizzo, “Everybody’s Gay”

Special » Nice Life / Atlantic Recording Corporation » 2022

Lizzo, Special [📷: Nice Life / Atlantic]Biscuit Beats stated, “I ain’t gay but I do gay stuff.” Contradiction? Anyways, Ash Gordon & Alaska Thunderfuck asserted, “Everyone is a little bit gay / A little bit gay / A little bit gay.” Not far-fetched, according to a study.  In the eyes of Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lizzo (Melissa Jefferson), apparently, “Everybody’s Gay.” “Dance the night away / (Keep it pussy poppin’, pop those percolates) / Everybody’s gay 🌈, yeah / (It’s a happy place in here, baby, you’re safe).” Ooh-wee!” You can be true to yourself because, on this neo-disco gem, per the memorable chorus, “We can take our mask off / We can ball and parlay.” Damn right we can, Lizzo! Is this record really about sexuality? It speaks to being who you are and not hiding or pretending to be someone else.  “Everybody’s Gay” encourages self-love without fear or reservation.  It’s fun, and Lizzo is unapologetic.  The orchestration (Lemar Guillary) and production (Nate Mercereau, Pop Wansel, Ian Kirkpatrick, and Ricky Reed) are reason enough to put this one on repeat! As Lizzo encourages in the bridge, “Purr, bitch / Freaky nights / Crazy times / Let’s play dress up, baby / (Play that shit, my boy).”

7. boyinbrown, “Gay Butt Sex”

“Gay Butt Sex” » boyinbrownrecords » 2024

boyinbrown, Gay Butt Sex [📷: boyinbrownrecords]

“I like gay sex, but I love the feelin’ of masturbatin’, yeah…”
Okay… That’s a choice, boyinbrown, but, you can partake of both. “That gay butt sex that you said was yours / But I’m in the butthole, yeah…” He’s a top, I think… It should go without saying, butt, “Gay Butt Sex” by boyinbrown should be taken with a grain of salt.  This is a comedic, NSFW, TMI track about gay sex, or something like that… Boyinbrown says all kinds of outlandish shit. It shouldn’t cum as a shock that he is “riding on top of two black men.” Also, “Fat dick, I’m creaming, an asshole blend” – anal sex coffee, and all 😏…

Anyways, “Gay Butt Sex” gets worse. “Make ‘em cum and poo / My hole stunk,” he asserts, continuing, “And I fuck ‘em harder / But I missed his hole / And then he shitted on my dick.” Gurlll… Well, the color of the paint 🎨  was brown, we assume 😳. So… was there douching beforehand? Also, Pure For Men could help with that… just saying! Boyinbrown continues to shock, and, quite possibly, ruin gay sex simultaneously. I mean, wasn’t it Perfume Genius that honorably sang, “Put your back into it / There is still grace in this”? In boyinbrown’s hole – I mean, hands – “Gay Butt Sex” is rough! “Yeah, we made a mess / And that big fat dick got me squirting / The fast her fuck me / The louder I’m screaming / And now he shits on me.” Perhaps he’s vers and not exclusively a top… Make what you will of this wild song!

8. Samuel Saint, “Pray the Gay Away”

“Pray the Gay Away” » Samuel Saint » 2023

Samuel Saint, Pray the Gay Away [📷: Samuel Saint]

“You got to get down on your knees, now boy / And pray the gay away.”
Homophobia and the sin of homosexuality are real, folks. Country singer-songwriter Samuel Saint captures it perfectly in his 2023 song, “Pray the Gay Away”.  After his daddy found out he kissed another boy (🫢), he advised him to pray the gay away. Bad, narrow-minded advice, mind you, but, depending on where you live, and what church/religion you are a member of, it’s sadly, not far-fetched. Despite this useless advice, Saint makes the most of it with a memorable chorus for the ages:

“He said, you got to pray the gay away

Now, each and every day

You go to, let the Lord come inside you

Now God’s the only way

You got to give your life to Jesus

And stop dreaming about penis

You got to pray gay away

You got to pray gay away.”

Ooh-wee! Not stop dreaming about penis 😜!  After his gay awakening, Samuel Saint still finds himself… gay.  After joining his high school football team (football is such a masculine, man’s sport), he is enamored by “the quarterback,” who is “Tall and black.” But, suppressing those feelings and his teenage hormones, Saint instead sings his daddy’s anti-gay song.  If football couldn’t un-gay him, surely the military in the third verse could! Ha! When referencing his bunk mate, he admits, “I could barely keep it in my pants / When he was wearing his beret / But I knew I had to fight it / Because Jesus wouldn’t like it.” Bummer! In the fourth and final verse, Sam is, unfortunately, a sad and lonely man, but he’s got Jesus…  Samuel Saint delivers a fantastic satirical gay country song with “Pray the Gay Away”.  His voice sounds superb, the melodies are tuneful, and the musical backdrop is countrified with southern gospel vibes (it’s that piano and those gospelized background vocals).  The big takeaway is, live your truth – be who you are meant to be.  Don’t become a sad, lonely man or woman who regrets not being true to oneself.  The gay can’t be prayed away, nor should it be. Let that rainbow shine fearlessly and proudly 🌈 💅!

9. Eli, “GAY MAN”

“GAY MAN” » Zelig Music / RCA » 2023

Eli, GAY MAN [📷: Zelig Music / RCA]

“This is some freaky shit and that’s for sure / Guess I gotta tuck my shit and cover up,”
ELI (she pronouns, per Instagram) sings in the first verse of “GAY MAN”. Are you confused yet? It’s worth noting that the queer pop artist was formerly known as Jeffrey Eli, which provides additional context to this 2023 R&B-infused track. In an interview with Galore, Eli (referred to as Jeffrey Eli) asserts, “… when [my friend and producer Brandon Shoop] started the beat, the idea to make a tune about falling in love with a woman popped into my head.” In the first verse, Eli continues singing, “Why (is it) mini-me is kicking down the door? / But why it would be my wood, I’m not sure.” In the press release for “GAY MAN,” it’s described as ‘an ode to pansexuality and finding love in usual places, stretching beyond the labels placed on individuals regarding who they love or are attracted to.’

Eli brilliantly plays around with gender and explores sexuality on “GAY MAN.” With some confusion from a listening perspective, there is also confusion from the parties involved.  “My baby, I am so confused,” they assert in the pre-chorus, continuing, “I never met a boy like you / You got me freakin’ about the shit I’m about to spew, girl.” In the second verse, which is more rhythmic than the first, Eli provides more deets.  “She like my top, she like my skirt, she like accessibility / I guess that opposites attract in many different means.” Of course, of course.  Getting more X-rated, “She like my sass, she like my ass, she like my sexuality / I licked her cat, I make her scream, my new pronouns are they/eat.” Woo! The two premier sections of “GAY MAN” are the chorus and the refrain.  In the chorus, Eli delivers classic lines like, “I bet you want to rub your pussy on my dick print 😳,” and, “And all these other boys be up inside your business / To be honest with you, you’re not unusual.” But, maybe the most important lyric of “GAY MAN” hails from the refrain: “You make a gay man go straight, you make a gay man behave.” Word.  Eli kills it on “GAY MAN”, singing sublimely whether its falsetto, lower-mid register, or the buttery smooth runs.  Beyond a great performance and engaging songwriting worthy of discussion, the accompanying instrumental is stupendous – the warm, robust keys and the beat! #SLAYYY 💅!

10. GOT BEEF & Average Joanna, “The Thrill of Gay Sex”

“The Thrill of Gay Sex” » GOT BEEF » 2025

GOT BEEF & Average Joanna, The Thrill of Gay Sex [📷: GOT BEEF]

“Back when I had a full head of hair and a fantastic body / And a libido to match, I discovered gay sex.”
That is a statement, right there.  No, not just any statement, but a gay, gay, gay one! And once you discover it, there’s no going back 😮‍💨 🤫!  Queer DJ and producer GOT BEEF (Dov Eagel) and Average Joanna join forces to convey “The Thrill of Gay Sex”! “Between his legs I leaned in and opened his robe / And oh my god, the biggest cock I’ve ever seen.” Not holy shit, but instead, holy dick 🍆 🤭! Chinwe Obichere and GOT BEEF wrote this gay sex-driven dance cut. GOT BEEF produced it.  From the musical accompaniment perspective, the instrumental is rad! It begins with a thudding, four-on-the-floor dance beat, initially.  The backdrop is electronic-tinged with distinct synths and a kick-ass beat.  The club vibes are pronounced to the nth degree. Average Joanna plays a sizable role in that department… and size does matter! The vocals are bold, chanted, and unapologetic.  There are plenty of repeated moments, which are part of the charm of this sub-three-minute record. Sex-positive to the nth degree, Average Joanna informs us, “Hoping to turn him on, I went into details / I loved being fucked / Face to face doggy style, sideways.” What more is there to say? It is, indeed, “The Thrill of Gay Sex!”

11. Juno Lev, “I had gay sex with god (it could’ve gone better)”

when they find your body » Milkboy » 2021

Juno Lev, when they find your body (EP)[📷: Milkboy]

“I spent all of last night in god’s bed / Mom, please don’t get upset / ‘Cause now I’ll be immortalized / I’ll be immortalized.”
Ooh-wee, Juno Lev (Jack Braun, who formerly performed as Jackfruit), I’m speechless 😶! Anytime spirituality is woven into music, it creates a compelling, thought-provoking listen.  “I had gay sex with god (it could’ve gone better)” is a prime example of a song with spiritual elements that easily catches the ears. The open-minded and progressive souls will eat this up, while those who are the most god-fearing will cry foul.  “I saw god in a Trader Joe’s / Buying organic blueberries / Prettiest man I’d ever seen.” Noted, Juno Lev. “I had gay sex with god (it could’ve gone better)” is the fourth track from their 2021 EP, when they find your body. Juno Lev produced this LGBTQ gem with the talented Zach Benson.

Juno Lev, I had gay sex with god (it could've gone better)[📷: Milkboy]After god kissed Juno Lev, with dried apricots in one hand, they assert, “I think my teeth are gonna rot.” The other experiences with god (Lev uses ‘god’ lowercased throughout) are questionable too, including “Lips sliding open in a prayer” (a blowjob), and stating that sex with him was “As close to heaven as I’ll get”.  Arguably the best line: “Second coming in a bathroom stall / But now god won’t return my calls, wrote him a love letter.” Holy shit! Beyond mixing queer sex and god, the music is heavenly on “I had gay sex with god (it could’ve gone better).” The electronic sound palette (keys and pads) shine.  The drum programming and snaps that arrive during the second verse are sweet.  The snare drumming is a superb touch. Of course, Lev is the star, singing expressively and gorgeously.  They are authentic to the nth degree, even as the lyrics are playful… and blasphemous 🤭. Adding to the allure are tuneful melodies from the get-go.  Oh, and how about one final lyrical shout-out?  At the end, can I get an “Amen, ah men?” Perhaps the sex could’ve gone better on “I had gay sex with god (it could’ve gone better)”, but the song remains a surefire, queer-to-the-nth-degree bop! We Stan!

12. Bryce Quartz, “Sodomite” (Ft. Big Daddy Karsten)

The Sextape » AVO Entertainment » 2024

Bryce Quartz, The Sextape [📷: AVO Entertainment]

“Sucking dick like a sodomite / Fucking on these bottoms like / Lick up on my cock tonight / My dick up in his spot it’s tight.”
Gay sex, it ‘hits’ different 😈, particularly with Bryce Quartz. The pleasure runs rampant on “Sodomite”, where Quartz collaborates with Big Daddy Karsten. “Sodomite” is the opener from his NSFW, spicy AF, sex-positive project, The Sextape, released in 2024. A sodomite, deemed offensive, is defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary as someone who practices sodomy (anal or oral copulation with a member of the same sex). It’s used as a term of abuse and disparagement for a gay person. Quartz, openly gay, reclaims this offensive term with a sense of pride.

Quartz gets first blood on “Sodomite,” rapping the first verse. He owns his sodomite status: “Might just go ahead and fuck your dad tonight / Bet he’s tight / Gonna make him scream until he sees the light.”  He remains blunt, describing himself as a “verse cub pig / Kinky with a big dick / Bears are my first pick / I like my men thick.” Quartz has contributed to Bear World Magazine. The verse pig cub keeps it trill! Bonus point for the spiritual references, albeit it blasphemous (“I suck dick like a saint”). Quartz also performs the NSFW centerpiece, the chorus, excerpted earlier, adding, “Leave off your condom / I need cum inside ‘em / I fuck like a sodomite / Get sucked like a sodomite / And if you love to cum / Then you must love Sodom, right?” Holy shit! Big Daddy Karsten brings unapologetic vibes to the second verse, matching Bryce’s freak.

“My dick is big, my hole is tight (My hole is tight)

Yeah, I’m loving life

Doing faggot shit

Make your dad suck my dick

Til he got an overbite overnight

Yeah, do it in the butt

Do it on the dick

Do it ‘til it spits, yeah.”

Perhaps Big Daddy’s best line comes at the end of the verse: “That rush in his head / Drinking my cum like it’s a slushy.” Fucc dude! Rapping against an aggressive, hard-nosed musical backdrop, and giving zero fucks, B.Q. and B.D.K. are proud sodomites on the bold, entertaining, and ultra-gay “Sodomite”.

13. Ezra Williams, “A Shitty Gay Song About You”

“A Shitty Gay Song About You” » Smoothboi » 2018

Ezra Williams, A Shitty Gay Song About You [📷: Smoothboi]

“Watching my fish swim in my room / Floating around, I think of you.”
Noted, Ezra Williams (they/them). The Irish singer-songwriter continues, “No rhyme or reason, you’re just in my head / And I’m alone in my bed.” That loneliness is a bear… I know from experience. Williams keeps things succinct in their 2018 single, “A Shitty Gay Song About You”. How succinct? Well, the shitty gay song, which isn’t shitty at all, clocks in under two minutes in duration.  Throughout, Williams expresses their feelings about someone they like. In the second verse, they listen to songs that their love interest is into, even if they don’t like them.

In the third verse, they assert, “I know that I can make [your shitty life] better,” adding, “And I’m not saying I’d be the best boyfriend / But I’d always lend you my sweatshirt / When you’re cold.” Unfortunately for Ezra, her love is an unrequited one.  In the chorus, she reveals, “When I’m not around you don’t care / And when I make a sound you don’t know that I’m there.” This is confirmed in the fourth and final verse, where Williams sings, “You’re oblivious to my feelings and that’s fine,” hoping they’ll add “A Shitty Gay Song About You” to “a playlist of your favorite songs of all times.” Williams’ unrequited experience is universally experienced. It sucks, but, they turn it into a compelling song. A little ukulele, glockenspiel, and vocals go a long way.

14. Donavan Burt, “GAY”

“GAY” » Tre Squad Family » 2022

Donavan Burt, GAY [📷: Tre Squad Family]

“This for all my girls with a taste for eating pussy / If I told the world, then they’ll probably overlook me,”
Donavan Burt sings on his 2022 song, “GAY”. He adds the variation, “This for all my girls with a taste for eating cookie.” In this particular section of his alternative song, Donavan focuses on lesbian (or bi) women.  However, he doesn’t exclude himself or gay/bi men.  “Cause I paint my nail / I grow my hair, so, yeah / They call me a faggot / But I’m good with the hands / I’ll tell you again that bitch / I’m down to get active.” Long hair and painted nails on men are gay stereotypes and considered non-heteronormative, but that doesn’t mean another man likes another man.  Painted nails are becoming more common among heterosexual males, including NBA player Jared McCain.

Beyond the hair and those nails on fleek 💅, Burt addresses gayness. “This for all my niggas with a taste for tasting dick / You was closeted they hating on the way you throwing fits,” he sings, adding, “Fuck the norm it just don’t fit / It just don’t feel at home like this.” Being queer can be challenging for all races. But, being a black queer male can yield a much different experience than a white queer male.  While there are shared experiences, one must keep in mind that no community is a monolith.  Burt goes on to speak about his parents’ homophobia. Homophobia is still a prevalent issue within the black community. It’s an area where more progress is necessary.  One of his best lines follows: “Niggas on my back why don’t you take your gun and load it / Take my dick and blow it / Empty out the whole clip / You get yo shit smacked if you come try me on some hoe shit.” Woo! In another significant section, Burt seems to be questioning: “But, I live my life so reckless / Some nights I sit up restless / Thoughts queer, I’m asking questions / Thoughts queer, I’m asking what.” Burt sings authentically, beautifully, and honestly throughout “GAY”.  He produced it alongside Sundiata, Winzgotbeats, Alvie, and Mekhi Fayson. The accompanying music is fantastic, providing the perfect soundtrack to this reflective, socially conscious gem.

“Gay porn gay porn / Yeah I’m watching gay porn / Two guys with two big dicks / Sucking each other…”
👀 👀 👀 😳 😳 😳… It doesn’t require critical thinking to figure out what “Gay Porn” by Lil jeffy is about. It is the eight track from his 2023 album, Big Booty Dick GangWhat an elegant album title 😏! In the chorus, excerpted above, the rapper continues, “I said, suck ‘em fast / I said, fuck ‘em fast.” If we’re being honest, he recorded a song about activities and actions that some of us partake in – watching gay adult entertainment and participating actively 🤫 🤭.  The difference is, we just don’t record a song about it, and perhaps, we’re less transparent about matters of the bedroom. In the verses, jeffy gets nasty, making “Gay Porn” fittingly NSFW, raunchy, and TMI.  Some of the highlights from the first verse of this X-rated cut include “Bust a nut, let’s just fuck / Sucky, sucky, let me hit it,” and, “I’m in your pipes like Mario / Dicks out let’s just party, yo / Gayness all around me, yo / Let me cum inside you, yo.” Not Mario! Similarly, the second verse is filthy: “Gay porn is what I like / My booty hole is getting tight / All inside me through the night.” There is nothing more to say 🦗 🦗 🦗.

16. Trisha Paytas, “GAY”

Postpartum Popstar » Trisha Paytas » 2025

Trisha Paytas, Postpartum Popstar (EP)[📷: Trisha Paytas]According to Trisha Paytas (she/her/they/them), “we’re all a little gay.” In the chorus of “GAY”, the fourth and final track from their 2025 EP, Postpartum Popstar, they add, “You wanna eat like a buffet? (Uh) / Then you gotta make it gay.” Gay, yeah! Arguably, “GAY” lacks profundity, but makes it loud and clear that G-A-Y is the W-A-Y.  Paytas co-wrote this dance-pop joint with Jeremy Thurber. Connor Musarra produced it.

In the first verse, Trisha informs us that rainbows, Birkins, streamers, and speedwalking are all gay.  Speedwalking is a gay stereotype. Not a bad one, in my eyes. Moving on to verse two! Trisha, what else is gay? Iced coffee, smoothies, Crop tops, platforms. Men in crop tops = 😮‍💨 😍. Paytas also throws in sashay 💅, West Hollywood (very gay 🏳️‍🌈), etc.  On the bridge, we get variation, though it is still very… wait for it… gay.  “Queer is the reason for the season / Pride is more than just a feeling,” they assert, continuing, “So tell me if you’re with me / And throw your fans high /… We’re all, we-we-we’re all a little gay.” Ultimately, “GAY” in the hands of Trisha Paytas is fun. This is a novel, tongue-in-cheek song made for the gays and allies who don’t mind being fab and sashaying alongside 💅! You betta werk!

17. Leftöver Crack, “Gay Rude Boys Unite”

Mediocre Generica » Hellcat » 2001

Leftöver Crack, Mediocre Generica [📷: Hellcat]

“Unity? Ha! You’re such a saint today / You may be antiracist / But then you’re antigay.”
Facts, Leftöver Crack! The punk/ska/crust punk band never shies away from socially and politically charged topics.  Homophobia was the choice for “Gay Rude Boys Unite”, the fifth track from their 2001 album, Mediocre Generica. Infuriated by the double standard, frontman Stza (Scott Sturgeon), asserts in the second verse, “You know I’m not PC: / I’ll shoot your kid at school / ‘Cause he’s gonna grow up to be / A fuckin’ asshole just like you.” Oh, snap! Ara Babajian (drums), Alec Baillie (bass, d. 2020), and Stza (vocals) wrote “Gay Rude Boys Unite.” Ezra Kire played guitar in Leftöver Crack at the time (Sturgeon is the only original member still in the band).  With a brief duration running well under three minutes, Leftöver Crack has plenty to say, sing, and play!

“You can celebrate your unity / Till every gay is dead / But why don’t you stop your fronting / With real unity instead?” Preach, Stza, preach! He is assertive and at times, aggressive with his vocal performance. Sometimes he shouts, while at other times, he’s more melodic. Punk to the nth degree, the energy is a constant on “Gay Rude Boys Unite.” Notably, the verses have a cleaner, lighter instrumental sound – more ska-like. The chorus, however, is heavier and more in your face. Rich, distorted, driving guitars and bass bring the heat. Those drums pummel something fierce, too.  Stza keeps the same energy, crying foul to these hypocritical homophobes!

“Intolerant society rears its ugly face

You’re turning the hardcore music

Into a homophobic disgrace

The gay one, the straight one

The white, tan, yellow, and black

The gay rude boys and girls (Yeah-yeah)

Are gonna take the dance hall back!”

Ooh-wee, right the fuck on, Leftöver Crack! In the third and final verse, Stza continues to promote authentic unity, stating, “racist, sexist homophobes / And piggies gotta pay,” and urging everybody to “Get out of your fuckin’ seat / And jam out to the faggot rhythm / Crack-rocksteady beat.” In the context of “Gay Rude Boys Unite”, the f-slur appears to be reclaimed. This song is rad 🤘, and the message endures!

18. Super Cassette, “Be Gay, Do Drugs, Hail Satan”

“Be Gay, Do Drugs, Hail Satan” » Dad Shirt » 2020

Super Cassette, Be Gay, Do Drugs, Hail Satan [📷: Dad Shirt]

“I showed up to school with my soul in my pocket / The teacher was wearing a cross and a locket / And a grimace that told me I’d never be welcome / That Dungeons and Dragons would send me to hell.”
Oh, snap! Feeling out of place, particularly when you know you are different, can feel like hell.  Furthermore, those who sniff out those differences are ready to damn you to hell, particularly if you also identify as queer. But, Oakland indie-rock/power-pop act Super Cassette, fronted by Max Gerlach, has found the recipe for happiness in “Be Gay, Do Drugs, Hail Satan”.  The chorus of this sub-three-minute, 2020 bop says it best:

“Be gay

Do drugs

Hail Satan

Be gay

Do drugs

Hail Satan.”

Some variations of the catchy and infectious chorus add that “Beelzebub is full of love.” Now that’s a reverse if I ever heard one!

Musically, “Be Gay, Do Drugs, Hail Satan” is a surefire vibe.  The guitars sound sweet, while the keys provide colorful touches. Particularly, the detuned synth that appears at the end is genius. “Be Gay” also features a fabulous harmonic progression with enough contrast to keep things engaging.  The vocal performance is rock solid. They’re chill and easygoing but potent to the nth degree. The melodies are tuneful from the get-go, while the songwriting is sensational. In the epic second verse, when asked by the principal how he turned things around academically, Gerlach’s response is:

“I told him that I found God in my own way

In tablets, and horns, and the boys in the hallway

The head of the class, and I’m writing a speech

It’ll be the best one that you ever did read and it’s

Six simple words.”

You already know what those words are (“Be Gay, Do Drugs, Hail Satan”). The bridge is a welcome contrast.  Speaking from his future self, as a 95-year-old grandfather advising his grandson, he gives the same advice he received from some kid in the bathroom and relayed in his speech.  Sure, co-signing drug use and embracing Satan are questionable 😬, but being gay 🌈– being true to who you are – is spot on. “Be Gay, Do Drugs, Hail Satan” kicks ass and takes names, PERIOD!

19. Mindless Self Indulgence, “Last Gay Song”

MSI B-SIDES vol. 1 » UCR, LLC » 2024

Mindless Self Indulgence, MSI B-SIDES vol. 1 [📷: UCR, LLC]

“I’m not / That gay / B-b-but you are!”
Noted, Jimmy Urine (James Euringer) and, of course, Mindless Self Indulgence. “Last Gay Song” is the ninth track on the band’s 2024 compilation, MSI B-SIDES vol. 1.  Notably, the song appeared in digital versions of their 2013 album, How I Learned To Stop Giving A Shit And Love Mindless Self Indulgence. After clearing the air about his non-gayness but pointing the finger at us, he sings in the first verse, “S-s-s-s-s-s-s-suck my dick / N-n-n-n-n-never gettin’ tired of it / M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-make me come / I n-, I n-, I never wanna be done.” Ooh-wee, MSI!

Mindless Self Indulgence keeps things brief.  Even so, “Last Gay Song” is jam-packed. It’s gay, but it’s also instrumentally striking.  Those electro-punk vibes are turned up to the nth degree, and who would have it any other way? There are wacky, ultra colorful synths and programming, and pummeling drum programming that hits you right in the chest.  Perhaps the best description is that this gayness feels and sounds like an adrenaline rush. And we’re here for it. “This is the last gay song that I will ever write / So it’s a shame that it’s almost over.” It truly is Jimmy, but what a pre-chorus. Of course, his vocals are as wacky as everything else in this record.

“S-s-s-s-s-s-slip me your tongue

B-b-b-b-b-batter up

F-f-f-f-f-f-finger this

L-l-l-l-l-l-like I give a shit.”

What a gay second verse! Other striking moments include the chorus, where, when it kicks in, Jimmy asserts, “You know, you know, you know, you know I’m gonna fuck it up.” Woo! F-f-f-f-f-f-fuck yeah! There is also the bridge, where, “Motherfuckers, what you want, what you need? / Oh my God / Damn, damn, hit the ropes / Flip the door, raise ‘em up.” Sigh, this “Last Gay Song” by Mindless Self Indulgence is a d-d-d-d-d-damn g-g-g-g-g-good o-o-o-o-o-one!

20. The Miracles, “Ain’t Nobody Straight in L.A.”

City Of Angels » UMG Recordings, Inc. » 1975

The Miracles, City of Angels [📷: Motown]

“Ain’t nobody straight in L.A. (No hay nadie en L.A. cuerdo) / It seems that everybody is gay (No hay nadie cuerdo).”
That is a bold statement, The Miracles.  Even more bold is the fact that “Ain’t Nobody Straight in L.A.” appeared on a mid-1970s album 😮!  Yes, this LGBTQ+-referencing record is the fourth track from City of Angels, released in 1975 album. For more context, this is the “Love Machine” album. By this time, Smokey Robinson was pursuing a solo career, meaning this was the Billy Griffin (1950 – ) era of the iconic Motown collective. Griffin and Warren “Pete” Moore wrote the progressive record while Freddie Perren produced it.

With 1970s records that address the LGBTQ+ community and themes, context is important. This was a different, far less gay era. If “Ain’t Nobody Straight in L.A.” had been recorded in the 21st century, specifically the 2020s, we would cry foul, at least to some extent. There are more nuanced approaches to singing about same-sex relationships, etc. But, examining it in an era where there were far fewer songs about being gay, this is progressive – ahead of its time. Early on, Billy Griffin gives us facts and observations, singing with that celestial, buttery smooth tenor. “Homosexuality is a part of society,” he sings in the refrain, “I guess that they need some more variety / Freedom of expression is really the thing.” The verse is in Spanglish. It corresponds with the Latin vibes of the instrumental – that percussive groove is everything.  In the second half, The Miracles assert, “Most everyone is AC/DC (Man with man, woman with woman is the trend) / Bisexuals on a loving spree (Holding hands, they’re no longer discreet).” No, not the heavy-hitting rock band, but gay, bisexual, etc. By the end of the song, in the outro, The Miracles show support for the community:

“‘Hey, but wait a minute, man, that’s a gay bar’

‘Hey, man, ain’t nothing but gay bars in Los Angeles’

‘Yeah, Bill, that might be true though, but, uh … you know some of the finest women are in the gay bar’

‘Hey, but dig, Bob, how do you know they women?’

‘… Gay people are nice people too, man.’

‘Yeah, let’s go, man. Let’s go, man.’”

It isn’t the most nuanced conversation, but the band arrives at the right place, you might say. Beyond superb vocals, tuneful melodies, and the intriguing theme and lyrics, the music itself is delightful.  The orchestral arrangement is lush, gorgeous. Perren’s production is superb. If you somehow missed out on “Ain’t Nobody Straight in L.A.” in The Miracles’ illustrious catalog, you must check it out!
