After releasing many singles, Usher drops the slick “No Limit” (Ft. Young Thug) as his promotional single for his album, Hard II Love.
After a four-year hiatus, Usher is releasing a new album. After dropping numerous singles – many of which fail to make Hard II Love – the R&B standout makes his proper return to the game. Single “No Limit,” featuring Young Thug, ends up being worthwhile.
“No Limit” is exceptionally well produced by modern R&B standards. Vocally, Usher remains a force – his tone is as great as ever. He uses his masterful instrument to deliver a hella catchy chorus.
“Make you say uh, no limit Got that Master P, no limit baby Give you that black card, no limit Just know when you roll with a nigga like me There’s no limit baby…Give you that ghetto D girl, no limit…”
Depth isn’t the M.O. of this song, but still, it’s highly enjoyable contemporary R&B.
Young Thug’s verse is predictable but provides a change of pace. That change of pace isn’t dissimilar from past Usher records. All in all, “No Limit” is something of a return to form for Usher. It should appease hip-hop, R&B, and pop fans of the veteran.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, “No Limit” is a fine rebound from Usher, who has struggled to find his footing in recent times. It’s nothing new, but a sound update on the sound that made him a superstar. One thing’s for sure, “No Limit” is drenched in swagger.
