Troye Sivan returns fabulously with the sexy, unapologetically G-A-Y pop/club joint, “Rush,” the promo single from his third LP, Something To Give Each Other.
“Ifeel the rush / Addicted to your touch / Oh, I feel the rush / It’s so good, it’s so good.” Indeed, 🎙 Troye Sivan, indeed. Interestingly, in 2019, the openly gay pop star suggested he might be more successful if he weren’t gay. Thankfully, rather than walk back his sexuality, he decided to embrace and double down on it, something he does marvelously on the club-infused single, 🎵 “Rush”. “Rush” serves as the opener of his long-awaited, highly anticipated, third studio album, 💿 Something To Give Each Other. “Rush” is both fabulous and gay AF.
To be fair, the music video seals the gay deal of “Rush”. Still, even if Troye Sivan had denied us a visual of appetizing shirtless men and sexual liberation, the sound of the record is giving gay club, PERIOD. This slick joint was produced by 🎛 Styalz Fuego, NOVODOR, and Zhone. To some extent, this sound is a change of pace for Sivan – a prudent move, particularly with such a gap between products (his 💿 In A Dream (EP) arrived in 2020). Lyrically and thematically, sex is written all over this record. Sure, there’s dancing, but it’s giving dirty dancing 😈 🕺 🪩! “Trust the stimulation, don’t you let it break / Every stimulation, promise I can take,” Sivan sings in the first verse adding, “What you wanna give? Boy, you better show me what / You’ve been schemin’ up.” WOO 🥵 🥵 🥵! The heat continues in the second verse, where Troye asserts, “Pass your boy the heatwave,” adding, “Kiss it when you’re done, man, this shit is so much fun / Pocket rocket gun.” Clearly, while listening to the heat and surefire bop that is 🎵 “Rush”, you should be some place where it’s okay if you get a little, um, turned on!
