ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isnโ€™t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out SIX notable observations from the Billboard 200 ๐Ÿ“‰,  and SEVEN observations from the Billboard Hot 100 ๐Ÿ“‰, with ๐ŸŽ™ Trippie Redd launching at no. 2 on the Billboard 200, while ๐ŸŽ™ Shawn Mendes and ๐ŸŽ™ Tainy earn the hot shot debut on the Hot 100 at no. 48.

Billboard 200 ๐Ÿ“‰

Trippie Redd, Trip at Knight [๐Ÿ“ท: TenThousand Projects]๐Ÿ’ญ Although unable to beat ๐ŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo, who returns to no. 1 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Sour, ๐ŸŽ™ Trippie Redd debuts at no. 2 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Trip at Knight

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Lorde earns another top-five debut.  ๐Ÿ’ฟ Solar Power debuts respectably at no. 5, but the fact that she didnโ€™t land in the top-three is disappointing.  Her previous album, ๐Ÿ’ฟ Melodrama (2017), debuted at no. 1 with more robust numbers.

๐Ÿ’ญ Late R&B singer ๐ŸŽ™ Aaliyah re-enters the Billboard 200 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ One in a Million, which earns a new peak position at no. 10.

๐Ÿ’ญ Country musician ๐ŸŽ™ Sturgill Simpson debuts quietly at no. 23 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ The Ballad of Dood & Juanita

๐Ÿ’ญ American Idol alum/Christian music artist ๐ŸŽ™ Danny Gokey brings the spirit on the Billboard 200 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Jesus People, which barely secures a spot in the top 100 (no. 99).

๐Ÿ’ญ Unfortunately, ๐ŸŽ™ dvsn and ๐ŸŽ™ Ty Dolla $ign didnโ€™t make much buzz with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Cheers to the Best Memories, which bows at an unimpressive no. 139.

The Kid LAROI, F*CK LOVE 3: OVER YOU [๐Ÿ“ท: Columbia]๐Ÿ’ญ Nothingโ€™s changed atop the Billboard Hot 100 during the week of September 4, 2021. ๐ŸŽ™ The Kid LAROI and ๐ŸŽ™ Justin Bieber hold down no. 1 with ๐ŸŽต โ€œStayโ€ for a fourth week.

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Shawn Mendes and ๐ŸŽ™ Tainy earn the โ€˜hot shot debutโ€™ on the Hot 100 as ๐ŸŽต โ€œSummer of Loveโ€ launches at no. 48.

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Trippie Redd launches at no. 49 on the Hot 100 with ๐ŸŽต โ€œMatt Hardy 999โ€ assisted by the late ๐ŸŽ™ Juice WRLD.

๐Ÿ’ญ Apparently, ๐ŸŽ™ Rod Wave has ๐ŸŽต โ€œAlready Won.โ€  He hasnโ€™t quite won the Hot 100 with his ๐ŸŽ™ Lil Durk assisted joint, which debuts at no. 60.

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Skrillex, ๐ŸŽ™ Justin Bieber, and ๐ŸŽ™ Don Toliver debut at no. 69 with ๐ŸŽต โ€œDonโ€™t Goโ€.

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Kane Brown launches at no. 73 with single, ๐ŸŽต โ€œOne Mississippi.โ€

๐Ÿ’ญ Surprisingly, ๐ŸŽ™ Ed Sheeran sees a modest start for his second single of 2021, ๐ŸŽต โ€œVisiting Hoursโ€, which bows at no. 75.
