Rapper Trippie Redd drops “Sleepy Hollow,” the incredibly brief, third single from his third studio album, Pegasus.
“Sleepy Hallow” is a single from, Pegasus, the third studio album by Trippie Redd. Redd keeps things incredibly short, to the tune of 1:41. A brief, but bright, enthusiastic intro seems to signal as if the king is about to enter the fold. Before you know it, the initial backdrop transforms with hard-hitting drums and moody synths, shifting to a minor-key.
Trippie Redd is melodic more often than not on “Sleepy Hallow,” but definitely brings toughness. Post-intro, he drops the centerpiece, the chorus:
“Feel like Ichigo, n***a, I’m a hollow (Yeah) Talk down on the gang, you can get some hollows (Yeah, ha) Leave a n***a headless, Sleepy Hollow (Bah, phew) Pull up in a Dark Knight Murciélago (Skrrt) And I’m duckin’, dodging 12 and the potholes (Fuck 12, yeah) I was raised by the motherfuckin’ Glock, woah Chopper hit him, make a n***a Diddy Bop, woah Chopper hit him, make a n***a Milly Rock, woah (Woo, woo).”
Following the chorus, there is a sole verse. Redd honestly doesn’t say anything substantial, for the record. He closes things out with the chorus, the best part of the record.
Final Thoughts
So, is there much to “Sleepy Hollow” when it’s all said and done? No, but it does have its redeeming qualities – worthwhile moments. The production is a plus, while the chorus is definitely a win. That said, when it comes down to it, I’m not sold that “Sleepy Hallow” transcends being a temporary vibe.
