Travis Scott, 4X4 [📷: Cactus Jack / Epic]Grammy-nominated rapper Travis Scott delivers another surefire vibe with his single “4X4,” which samples the Tennessee State Marching Band.

“Four-by-four, I tint my windows up, yeah /… Damn, lil’ bro, he did it, one-and-done / Out my closet, that shit none-of-none.” Travis Scott flexes hard on his single, “4X4”, evident by the chorus.  He memorably adds, “Girl, fuck the sun, find the moon, find some fun.” Ooh-la-la! “4X4” features multiple songwriters.  Interestingly, it samples “Say Sum” by Migos as performed by the Tennessee State Marching Band. The marching band is one of the selling points. Tay Keith and FNZ produced it.

“4X4” commences with enigmatic vibes. The musical accompaniment is ear-catching – the expectation from a Travis Scott track. Scott brings his signature melodic performance to the table.  He references Xanax use in the first verse: “I relax, take control.”  In the second verse, it’s smoking Zaza (“Highest one (It’s lit) / Talkin’ that smoke, nigga, might dirty your lungs”), window tints (“Four-by-four- I swerve, five percent, tint windows”), and sex (“Gotta be tens at least, I one V. three these hoes”). Is “4X4” by Travis Scott earth-shattering or game-changing? No, but it is enjoyable – a surefire vibe.
