Up-and-coming rapper Post Malone drops one final single, “Leave” ahead of his highly anticipated debut album, ‘Stoney.’

21-year old “White Iverson” rapper Post Malone drops his highly anticipated debut album, Stoney (December 9, 2016).  Ahead of Stoney, Malone dropped seven singles, including final pre-release joint “Leave.” “Leave” precedes Stoney with a bang.

The joint features a hard-hitting groove from the jump. This is instantly a catalyst for head-nodding (piano + hard beat). Post Malone provides excellent singing as opposed to rapping. His singing voice is perfectly suited for this particularly production.  A number of memorable lyrics appear throughout, including:

“But this b*tch is gonna drive me mad / I said this b*tch is gonna drive me mad.”

The aforementioned lyric closes both of the verses.  The second verse yields another gem:

“I worship since I met you / I fell down to my knees / and when no one would accept ya / throw myself up on a cross and bleed.”

Finally, the hook is catchy and dramatic to the nth degree:

“You got just what I been looking for / but you can’t bring yourself to say no / and I ain’t never gonna let you got / I kept wishing I would die ooh / the whole plane ride home / and I wish I could / I know I should leave you alone.”

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Leave” is a captivating listen from the jump.  Post Malone does a great job of singing here as opposed to rapping. Superb underlying production supports him, only strengthening the song.  Stoney should be a captivating LP.
