Justin Moore, Kinda Don't Care © Valory

4 out of 5 stars

Justin Moore builds a compelling case for his forthcoming album ‘I Kinda Don’t Care’ with exceptional pre-release single, “Somebody Else Will.”

August 2016 seems loaded with new country albums.  Justin Moore isn’t missing his shot.  Based upon pre-release single “Somebody Else Will,” forthcoming album I Kinda Don’t Care is looking kinda special.

“Somebody Else Will” is set in a minor key, giving it a darker feel. Opting for crossover appeal, it features a pop-soul oriented groove that’s not your standard country groove.  Sometimes for the country purist, this is a turn-off. In this case, it’s a musical blessing.

Moore’s voice is clear and he consistently retains its country sensibilities. Given his remembrance of his roots, Moore creates a superb oxymoronic effect.  Country-tinged vocals coupled with a pop-soul groove.

Country music earns a nod beyond Moore’s pipes. On the chorus, the sound is overtly country.  Expectedly, the chorus is bombastic, chocked full of energy. Moore lives up to the big moments, truly stretches his pipes. His vocal bag of tricks comprises of cracks, grit, and the full complement of nuances.  Clearly, J.M. outdoes himself.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “all things are working” on “Somebody Else Will.” It features catchy chorus and is well written. There is excellent contrast between the verse and chorus. Vocally, Moore delivers an authentic, magnificent performance. “Somebody Else Will” successful blends pop and country without compromising his artistic lane. “Somebody Else Will” is engaging through and through.
