YouTube Sensation Dan Howell roasted himself via rapping on channel danisnotonfire, and it became a hilarious single for purchase on iTunes.
Dan Howell is a character. Most YouTube personalities are. Don’t they have to be in order to sustain their fan base and more importantly expand upon it? How many times have you heard various YouTube personalities gush over reaching a new subscription milestone? It’s part of the game. British YouTuber Howell, known by his channel name danisnotonfire, has certainly done well for himself.
Howell roasted himself on his channel on his July 25th video, Dan’s Diss Track – ROAST YOURSELF CHALLENGE. Apparently unbeknownst to Dan, his roast became iTunes single “Dan Is Actually On Fire.” We frown on illegal activity BUT “Dan Is Actually On Fire” is worth the risk, for lack of a better word.
Besides Howell’s electrifying personality, what makes “Dan is Actually on Fire” successful? While the production is a bit on the light side, it’s perfectly suited for this comical hip-hop track.
Like the catchiest hip-hop songs, Howell incorporates ad-libs. Think ad-libs in the style of Yo Gotti hit “Down in the DM,” with Dan using words like “ouch,” “cringe,” and “fringe.” In addition to the ad-libs, Howell incorporates hilarious lyrics, such as:
“First things first you’re freakishly tall it’s weird you look like a noodle – tru”
“You’re what would happen if Winnie the Pooh f*cked slender man”
“Your jokes are shit-posts and memes with no originality”
“So your celebrity crush was J-Law but now it’s Evan P – mhmm / wtf even is your sexuality”
“I’m gonna go and masturbate, then cry into a slice of pizza – feelings”
Final Thoughts
All in all, “Dan Is Actually on Fire” is clever. While Dan may not be the next big-time rapper, he’ll continue to thrill audiences with his quirks and sense of humor. Dan, dude, you’re actually on fire!
