Tory Lanez, "Temperature Rising" [Photo Credit: One Umbrella]Canadian rapper/singer Tory Lanez gets steamy AF on “Temperature Rising,” his short but sweet debut single post-Interscope.

Tory Lanez is quite prolific – understatement.  While the Canadian rapper and singer has had his share of criticism, the amount of material he releases is quite astonishing.  Furthermore, he’s had plenty of success on the charts.

After releasing The New Toronto 3, he returns with a new single, “Temperature Rising.” Interestingly, “Temperature Rising” arrives via One Umbrella Records – he’s fulfilled his deal with Interscope.

“Temperature Rising” finds Lanez doing what he does best in my opinion – sing.  Here, backed by lush, sleek production by Super Miles and DopeBoyzMusic, he delivers a truly sensual performance.  That’s not uncharacteristic of the musician by any means, but or whatever reason, this brief, two-and-a-quarter-minute joint lands harder than some of his music.  It’s certainly nothing deep – sex is the modus operandi – but hey, he does pretty well for himself singing about sex.  The chorus is the crowning achievement:

“Temperature’s risin’ (Temperature’s risin’)
Makin’ love slow (We’re makin’ it slowly)
Your body’s callin’ (It’s callin’ me, yeah)
Rubbin’ on me slow (Slow)
Got my attention (You got my attention)
Undivided (And it’s undivided)
I wanna love ya
This time, this time, I wanna love ya
Tonight, it’s a love makin’ affair.”

It’s very much ‘been there, done that,’ but does sex ever fail to stimulate – okay, don’t answer that! Other than the sexy chorus, the end of the second verse is a strong moment for Tory Lanez, who adds some additional expression and inspiration into what’s about to go down:

“I’m tellin’ you to lock the door
If we ain’t sexin’, what we in her for?”

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Temperature Rising” is a short but sweet sexually driven joint by Tory Lanez.  No, the wheel is not reinvented, but, it’s a successful moment for Lanez, who I’m not always ‘high on’ artistically.  Need something to get you hot while you’re ‘making it do’ with your boo/bae, etc.? Check out “Temperature Rising.”
